Hi! Okay so I'll try and keep this quick! Someone ordered a custom blanket from me(my first crochet commission!) Its of a fancy door/arch with the words "speak friend and enter" on it from lord of the rings(forgive me I don't know the exa.
I only charged him for the yarn which came out a little over $200.(It's fairly large) Its turning out super good, so I was thinking of either making another one to sell after it's completed or maybe just selling the pattern for it. I'm wary about trying to sell the full blanket because $200 is a lot! Id probably price the pattern at $5? I'm not sure. But I'm also worried for a few other reasons. Copyright issues concern me, but also would anyone else really be interested in that? I'm happy to hear your opinions!
Thank you in advance for any and all responses! ❤️

Hi! This is my most popular crochet pattern available on my Etsy, but it's been super slow, any tips on increasing sales?

Not sure if I used the right flare, but I’m trying to decide how to price everything individually. The woman that is running the fair said I should. I do have a sign with all the prices. I thought maybe stickers but I feel like that will ruin the yarn or leave a weird residue. What have you done?

Hello all! I’ve been crocheting and making things for years and just recently decided I wanna sell at a stall/fair. But I was wondering what selling others’ IP would look like. Is it a clear dry no, you can’t do that? Cuz I know Disney is very touchy about their property. But I’ve seen crochet stalls selling amigurumi from animes or Sanrio and those kinds of things. I was wondering if it depends on the IP or since it’s a small stall at a market it’s not much a big deal

Hi guys! I’m a newly single mom of a 10 mo old and I’m wondering what your thoughts are on crochet selling? Do we think this is an already saturated market that isn’t good to be starting right now or do we think it’s still possible to build?
TIA.

Flowers are beautiful, but there's one tiny problem with them…
They don't stay forever. 🥹
So I took some yarn, a crochet hook, and a little too much patience… and made a rose that doesn't need water, won't lose its petals, and can actually go out with me. 🌹👜
Somewhere between making every little petal and putting it all together, a simple ball of yarn became this tiny pink rose bag.
It's a little bag I made entirely around the idea of carrying a rose without picking one. 🧶💗

I have just finished creating my newest pattern, and it is now in testing (except for the pdf version, which I am still editing and hope to have up tomorrow). The only issue is, this is the largest, most complex pattern I have ever made, and I don't know how much to charge for it.
Oleander the Trick-or-Treating Dragon is 10 inches tall when made with worsted weight yarn. He has 13 pieces that are sewn on, and a few more that are crocheted on, plus lots of surface crocheting.
To my fellow crocheters - if you designed this pattern, what would you charge? If you were buying this pattern, what would you consider a fair price?

Posting for a friend! Right now she is just mainly focused on crochet/knitting though.
Hey y'all, I am Aubry trying to do some marketing research for crochet businesses. The goal is to eventually create my own business working for yall but at the moment this is for school and I am doing some research on what crochet sellers like and dislike about marketing if you have the time and you are new to selling crochet items or have been selling crochet items for a while I would love your feedback in the form below.

I make pendents and necklaces made with pebbles i find on the street, work them with a hanging shaft rotary tool to give them shape and polish them. Then i make a hole and place a previously foraged ammonite inside it. It takes me apprx 2/3 hours to make a full necklaces (not considering the Time it takes to find the stone and the ammonite in the first place).
Theyre pretty basic jewelry in the end but the fact that i can tell a little story about the places i found the stones and fossils makes it interesting kinda

I am thinking of starting a crochet business soon. Currently in the process of making a few pieces that would be the first drop
Do you guys have any advice, what you did wrong and what you did right? If you were to start your business today what would you do differently?
(Also, how profitable are crochet businesses? I'm msotly doing it because I love crochet but wouldn't mind a successful business)
P.S: I'm from Pakistan but any general advice would be great too

Before making another batch, count what is actually left. A fictional crochet-market example: start with 20 finished items, sell 8, and 12 remain. If your target for the next market is 30, that leaves 18 to make. Keeping the remaining count and your next target separate gives you a concrete restocking plan. Disclosure: I sell MarketMakerDesk's Handmade Inventory spreadsheet. It is a paid digital download, created with AI assistance. Price: CA$16.50, in Canadian dollars. The workbook has capacity for 100 items, 500 manually entered stock movements and 50 suppliers, with quantities supported to six decimal places. Sales and stock changes need manual entries; there is no automatic Etsy sync. Importing the XLSX into Google Sheets has been tested. The updated file has not been tested in desktop Excel or LibreOffice. If that fits how you track your handmade stock, the screenshots and full details are here: https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/4588621093/handmade-inventory-spreadsheet-stock-and

Good evening Reddit,
I've been crocheting for a while now like 5+ years and I've been recently completing a lot of projects so much so that I feel empty when I've finished one.
I've always wanted to start a crochet business, focusing on bags and wearables. I'm coming to you all for advice on what I would need to start; pricing and how to structure the business and the like.
Any advice is appreciated💕

I am just starting to try sell my wooden art online.
Sadly, with all the work and the fees, I don't think I can go below 23.90€ per bookmark.
They are made by hand from many different type of wood veneer, sanded and oiled.
What do you think? Is it reasonable?
There's more items and pics in the shop:

Hi everyone! I'm a crochet artist who has a small business while managing my masters in UX Design. I recently started my business and have been facing a lot of difficulties to manage it solely alongside my studies and that made me realise i might not be the only one facing such problem.
Many of us have full time roles as students, employees or parents while managing our business, you know be it orders, inventory, sales, materials, revenue, etc. Handling all these roles especially while creating products is a hassle. This made me realise that this is something that I can try and solve using my skills as an UX Designer!
I want to survey some of you about your process and how you manage your business, the difficulties you face. If you guys are willing to help me out, let me know and I'll dm you the survey form! Thank you 🫶

I’m by no means an expert, I just crochet for fun but I made this for my daughter’s preschool class and a teacher wants to pay me for one for a family member. I wouldn’t normally charge since I like making things for people but she insists. Should I just say anything would work, or maybe just materials?
EDIT: just editing to add that I’m surprised how much this blew up. Thank you for all the advice and kind words! I have several other projects on my plate for a friend (and for the first time ever, I am starting a project for myself.) I’ve already let her know that my timeline is pretty unpredictable because I don’t like to have too many projects going on at once. I definitely appreciate everyone’s perspective, I’m glad I posted because you all gave amazing advice.

These were my first ever stuffies for a friend's twins who hired me to do them. She was incredibly happy with them, I charged her $50 total. She said that was way less than what she was quoted by others. I know theyre not perfect but did I over or under charge?

I've been running my handmade jewelry business for several years, and a large portion of my revenue comes from in-person vendor markets and festivals.
While vending has been successful for me, I'm getting to the point where I want to scale back on events and focus more on growing my online sales.
I currently sell on Etsy and have my own website, but my online sales aren't nearly as consistent as my in-person sales. I also work full-time, so spending entire weekends vending isn't something I want to continue doing long-term.
I'd love to hear from small business owners who have successfully made this transition, especially those selling handmade products, jewelry, accessories, or other physical goods.
A few questions:
What made the biggest difference in growing your online sales?
Which marketing channel actually converts into purchases for you? Instagram, Pinterest, email marketing, Etsy SEO, paid ads, etc.?
Did you build your online customer base from your existing vendor customers, or did you attract an entirely new audience?
4.Did you build an email list at events? How (sign-up sheet, QR code, discount)?
How long did it take before your online sales became consistent enough to reduce vending?
If you could start over, what would you focus on first, and what would you stop wasting time on?
7.Which platforms did you use: Etsy, Shopify, both, etc?
I'm not necessarily looking to become a huge brand. I would just love to build a sustainable online business that doesn't require me to physically show up somewhere every weekend to generate revenue.
I'd really appreciate hearing what actually worked for you, including what didn't!

I made my first little crochet collection 🧶🌷 — would love your honest opinion!
I’ve been making crochet products by hand for a while, and I’m finally trying to share my work with people outside my own circle. 🥹
These are some of the things I’ve been making recently — crochet flower pots, cute keychains, small gifts and customised pieces.
What I love most about crochet is that I can make something specifically for a person instead of giving them the same mass-produced gift everyone else has. ❤️
I’m curious:
Which one would you actually buy as a gift? 🌷 Crochet flower baskets and pots
🔑 Customised keychain
👜 Crochet bags
🎁 Small personalised gift set
And if you have any suggestions about colours, designs or products you'd actually want to see, I'd genuinely love to hear them.
I have just started my handmade business, so honest feedback would mean a lot. 🫶
