Shitpost I’m really glad the city invested all that tax money into making beautiful bike lanes in my neighborhood just for 40 spandex clad dorks to completely ignore them and block vehicle traffic.
As someone who’s been building and riding bikes for 30 years I hate being associated with you people in any way.
Edit: Just because you’re not technically breaking any laws doesn’t mean you’re acting in a courteous or conscientious manner. It’s not illegal to kiss your brother’s wife. Doesn’t mean you should do it.

Shitpost It’s so fucking hot I’m going insane
I know that it’s not as hot as it will get or whatever I’ve lived here my entire life but Jesus fucking Christ I’m gonna lose it. First off my cars AC is shit, it barely works and my car gets steaming hot when it sits in the sun for an X amount of time. Even when my ac does get going I’m still sweating my ass off when I’m driving, like I can’t get away from it and I want to explode, I get so frustrated. I hate the heat I hate it I hate it I hate it

Shitpost I need Austin drivers of gigantic vehicles to explain something to me.
Why did you buy a vehicle the size of a studio apartment if you cannot keep it inside the little white lines specifically designed to tell you where your vehicle goes?
Every time I venture out into the wild that is the streets of Austin, I inevitably encounter a multitude of people driving enormous vehicles who seemingly cannot keep them in their own lane.
And somehow, they’re also some of the angriest and most impatient people on the road. Like friend, YOU are drifting into MY lane. Why are you mad at me?? Where would you like me to go? Into the median? Should I simply evaporate??? I’m trying to get home too… 😭
And the parking???? You have a massive truck or suv and out of the entire parking lot you decide you absolutely need one of the tight spots directly in front of H-E-B. So now the entire back half of your vehicle is sticking out into the driving path and we’re all taking turns squeezing around it like this is just a normal part of the H-E-B experience.
Meanwhile there are perfectly good spaces a little farther back where your beautiful land yacht could fit without becoming a traffic feature. Why do you need to be up here with us??? 😭
I know someone is already typing “welcome to Texas”. I know. I live here. I understand trucks are part of the ecosystem.
I genuinely do not care if you drive a truck. I don’t care if your truck can tow a house. I don’t even care if you’ve never towed anything heavier than a Yeti cooler. Live your truth.
I am simply asking, lovingly, that if we choose a vehicle with the dimensions of a small guest bedroom, we learn where its edges are. 🥹💕

Shitpost Alamo Drafthouse Fail is no Suprise
While I don’t think the current management of the Alamo would actually improve anything enough to make me want to go there, I was thinking when I got this email it would be satisfying to tell them all of the ways they now suck. Why am I not surprised the survey link didn’t work?
Was anyone else in Austin when they had Truckasaurus Rex smash cars in the parking lot for the Transformers opening? Or remember the old movie gong show where someone would always bring a VHS of porn?
One of the best meals of my life was prepared outdoors for a screening of “Udon”. They used to hire a real chef who would curate the regular menu and these special events.
RIP old days of the Alamo.

Shitpost It’s going to be a lonely day…come keep me company?
Every time I post about my museum I get flamed. I don’t care. It’s going to be a slow day and I need the company.
Texas Military Forces Museum on Camp Mabry, 10-4. Admission is FREE.
don’t follow Google. It takes you to 45th. You need to go through the 35th street gate. Bring ID. Every one is welcome.
Anyways. It’s a fun place and worth it. Come say Hi.
ETA: Y’all are awesome :-)

Shitpost Is now a good time to bring up the abuse of cellular alerts by Texas DPS causing citizens to disable the alerts entirely?
How many of you turned them off after getting warned about a minor police incident hundreds of miles away?

Shitpost Austin rental market
What the actual fuck is up with these companies. They are genuinely farming the fuck out of everyone's data I've applied to a ton of apartments and have lived in 3 since moving to austin.
All of a sudden now they need to login to ur bank and see all of ur transactions. surely these shitty fintech companies arent farming your data and furnishing that data to credit monitoring companies or random. they are definitely doing it just to make apartment hunting soo much easier and safer!
On top of that, a lot of them want ID verification + biometric scans just to APPPLY. Not to sign a lease. Not to move in. Just to apply. surely that data is going to good use right?? its being deleted right after scan is done right?? this is actually fucking insane how about check my ID in person when im about to move in or before approving the lease by just asking to see it in person? it's not like i can move in without you seeing me anyway. How about do they fucking job they're paid to do and stop being incompetent and passing everything off to 3rd party because we all know once you move in they are barely responsive or helpful anyway.
Why is everything so invasive. $200–$350 in application/admin fees per apartment, non-refundable, even if they deny you. There’s basically zero risk on their side... They probably make more money off that than the actual fucking rent.
