Rant 2024 Spotify Wrapped was awful

No interesting stats, no genres, nothing. It felt super anti climatic tbh. Even the theme felt meh. Anyone else?

Rant Spotify is now creating fake bios and pictures to hide Ai artist and further confuse users

*** EDIT: Since people are immature and condescending I thought I’d clarify some things. Spotify might not (they could be creating their own Ai artists for all we know) be actually creating these bios themselves but they are 100% responsible for the artists that make use of their platform. It’s 100% their responsibility to vet new accounts, to enforce proper labeling and categorization of Ai music. $17 billion in revenue. They absolutely have the means for it. So if they are not enforcing the disclosure of Ai profiles they might as well be blamed for creating them. Spotify owns about 30-35% of the streaming world. Is it not in their best interest to deal with less human artists complaining about being underpaid and dealing with more Ai artists that don’t care as much about their royalties? Is it that crazy for it to be in the realm of “conspiracy” and “big music syndicate” as some Redditors are joking about? Is it not crazy that every single Ai artists that has had a profile for less than a year has more than 100k listeners while decade-old human artists struggle with 50k listeners? Worry more about your fellow musicians that are hurting and worry less about how accurate my information is ***

This app has reached a new low and I'm reaching a boiling point. Earlier I was listening to a song by Sade.
The song finished and Spotify started paying Rizzers, an Ai artist I already reported. I mean the audacity to follow up Sade with an Ai artist. That's like finishing eating caviar and being served McDonalds. So I blocked them. As soon as I did, the song skipped and a song by Faye Meana (human artist) started playing.
Her song finished and Spotify started playing Selah Stone, another Ai artist. And this went on for a few songs. Literally 50% of recommended songs are Ai.

The crazy thing is that Selah Stone has a bio, an email, a profile pic and 300,000 listeners and her profile was created in 2026!!!!!! I am a paid user yet I'm being lied to or at least misled to believe I'm listening to human artists.

l've been a paid user since 2015 and for the past 8 months Spotify has quietly introduced me to Ai artists. At first it was one once in a while but in the last month i have been bombarded with what seems like 1 out of 2 Ai artists. At first I couldn't tell. I made another post last month how l've been unknowingly listening to some Ai songs that I added thinking they were human. Well, during the last month I've developed a ear for Ai songs. They all sound the same now. I can now tell within 10 seconds of hearing vocals. It’s very stale.

What app alternative do you recommend and is there a way to transfer playlists to a different app? I have 100 playlists with thousands of songs in total. How do I even begin to transfer to a new app?

Rant New Spotify feature is doxxing

2.1k Upvotes

I checked Spotify today and noticed a new feature that lets you DM people. I tried it and saw a list of “suggested friends”, most I recognized, but a few I couldn’t place. Based on the music shared (it shows every single link you’ve ever sent that someone has opened, as long as they have a Spotify account), I realized some of these were people I know from Discord.

I don’t reveal my real identity on Discord, but occasionally share music in servers or while gaming. I’ve always kept Discord anonymous, and Spotify has never been a “social” app for me. But now it seems that anyone I’ve sent a Spotify link to, if they also have an account, can potentially find me, which means they could discover my full name and other account info.

It’s a little alarming. Just something to keep in mind if you share music in servers or subreddits and want to maintain your privacy

Rant I just got lossless and it's exactly what I expected

1.0k Upvotes

Grab the best pair of headphones I own (Marshall Major IV).

Connect them with Bluetooth cable and usb-c to jack adapter to my phone.

Play a song.

Switch back and fort between lossless and very high quality.

Can't hear the difference.

Do the same thing on my PC.

Can't hear the difference either.

Guys. I'm glad for those few who have use for lossless that it finally came to Spotify. But let's stop lying to ourselves. Even on this subreddit, most of us won't hear the difference. Most of us don't even own a speaker or headphones good enough for lossless. And even if I had it, I doubt my hearing is good enough to tell the difference.

What I'm trying to say is, don't get all riled up for something you can't even hear. It's dumb and pretentious.

Edit:

I think most people are missing the point. I know I won't hear the difference on Marshalls. That's not the point.

The point is, if you have good enough gear to hear it, you don't need to get riled up about this post. If you don't have good enough gear, you don't need to get riled up about lossless.

Rant Is it just me or has Spotify gotten extremely slow and incompetent

For the last couple of months I’ve felt like Spotify has gotten extremely incompetent, songs even if downloaded won’t play, songs are hard to search and add to playlists, and a bunch of other problems involving the UI being laggy. Weird thing is that it has happened to me in other devices not just my phone, but my laptop as well. Maybe it’s time to switch to Apple Music

Rant Videos? This is not YouTube

Post image

I really don't like that my kid can bypass that I uninstalled YouTube, and just watch the same brain rotting videos on Spotify. I like Spotify for music. Why are these crappy videos available on here now, and why can't I disable or block it? I think they're listed as "podcasts" and I do not see an ability to hide a podcast, the way I can hide things like Cocomelon and Little Angel.

Rant I canceled my Spotify subscription of 6 years.

1.2k Upvotes

No one cares, but this is after all a rant.

I feel like I am listening to the same music over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over.

Wanna listen to 90s? Here is LUNCH by Billie Eillish 🤩✨️

Wanna listen to soft rock? Here is LUNCH by Billie Eillish 🤩✨️

Wanna listen to rap/hip hop? Here is LUNCH by Billie Eillish 🤩✨️

Made for you killed Spotify for me. Spotify makes me hate my music because it keeps on playing it over and over again, everywhere. All my playlists are just the same songs over and over again. I have over 4000 liked songs and every playlist is the same.

+

The algorithm feels way to advertisy. I notice that when artists are about to drop albums, suddenly I get an influx of music by that artists in my shuffles or playlists because Spotify thinks I actually want to listen to my liked songs when I search for public playlists.

+

Price hike, duh. And for those who care, a price hike with a CEO who said music costs nothing to make as a way of justifying not paying artists.

I will be honest too tho. If Spotify ever fixes their poop, I would come back, but until Made For You dies or is optional, I am not coming back.

BTW, I like the LUNCH song, it's just overplayed on my Spotify playlists, that's all. I am a Billie Eilish fan lol

Rant Is it just me or does wrapped kinda suck this year??

1.6k Upvotes

The visuals are awesome but its extremely bare bones. No top genres?? No stat for how many genres listened to? No listening Location thing? No cute listening profiles or anything new like it?

I get that not everything can come back each year but we didn’t have anything new this year aside from the weird 2 months that looked like a clusterfuck of genre names like an Amazon listing or something.

Not being able to download the top songs playlist is probably just because we’re early tho.

Rant Price increase again!

Post image
322 Upvotes

Am I the only one who feels frustrated that the price is increased yet again and the services have remained the same and nothing has changed. This is also the most basic account I have and it’s $14 plus tax.

Are there any other music apps that people use that they highly recommend? I do like when Spotify gives you your top music that you’ve heard all year but IMO it’s not worth paying $14 every month for it.
