Question Why tf do I have politics on my Spotify?
I swear I saw the president on my home page before I saw Vance pop up on my search feed.
US (Boston) based, what is this? And why do I have politics on my music listening app?
Anyone know when these features were rolled out?

Because the owners of Spotify are the bad guys and are trying to influence you into consuming distraction politics.

The recommendations are based on your listening history—podcasts you previously listened to. Long press on them and click not interested.

Thanks for the response! Never listened to a single podcast on Spotify… disappointing that Spotify is resorting to gimmicks like this.

... what? They show podcasts that they believe that people will listen to. Spotify has had an algorithmic content recommendation feed for a long time now.

if you’ve never listened to a podcast it likely will show you random things that might interest you because there is no algorithm set yet

Sure. What i’m confused about is why they think it’s strange to be served political content. Politics are one of the primary concerns of life in democratic countries.

genuinely the least surprising thing to be served if i’m honest. i don’t get it either. maybe they’re non-american and receiving american content?

OP says they're Boston-based. To be honest, they come across as the "apolitical" type, which annoys me, hence my comment. 🙃

That's not entirely true because mine keeps trying to push fitness videos which I have zero interest in

that's not entirely true though because ive listened to max 5 minutes of a single meditation podcast (it didnt work for me lol) and its shown me political suggestions on my podcast feed too . my reddit is very political which leads me to assume they do cross-app personalization . i don't know for sure but i do know other apps do it like etsy and Pinterest unless you manually turn it off in your settings

You've mentioned you don't listen to anything political. Spotify generally defaults you to what's popular, and politics are popular for podcasts.
