Termux is compatible with Android 17. This message is only a warning that means that there will not have auto updates of the Termux app from F-Droid, you will have to press the update button each time ; don't worry the Termux app have almost 1 update / year. The reasons why it cannot be updated is that the app target Android 9, but Android requires that an app targets Android 12+ to allow automatic updates.

Will I get notification that there is new version?

Yes, don't worry about that. It's just you will have to open F-Droid, click on Termux, press on update, then press update on the popup.

I don't think it's new:). I think I've used it for at least a decade. Might be two. But that makes me old :(

Yes, you still should get a notification. What you lose is unattended updates. Termux app will need manual intervention for installing new version.

Termux works fine on Android 17 for standard builds. The main things to watch are PhantomProcess limits and battery optimization killing long compile jobs — same as A15/A16. My AAB build pipeline (clang + Gradle on-device) targets the standard Termux environment and doesn't rely on anything version-specific.

If you hit process-death during builds, termux-wake-lock plus disabling battery optimization for Termux usually fixes it.

Thanks, but that's fare from my use case. I will use it as emergency ssh client
