A couple people from AA reached out to me today
One of them was my ex sponsor. Nothing AA-related, just asked me how things were going and if I was close to driving again (I lost my license in 2022 and get it back in a couple days). He was surprisingly accepting of me leaving the program, and I'm cool staying in contact as long as he doesn't try to recommend re-joining AA.
Now, the other one... He's also aware that I've been out of the program for a few weeks now. He said something along the lines of, "Hey man missed ya at the meeting! Ya gotta come back sometime!" Uhhh, HELL NO. I've made a very firm commitment to never go back. I came back and recommended that we grab a bite sometime, or hit a pool hall in the area soon.
I didn't burn any bridges when I left. My conscience is clean, I made a smooth break, and I'm totally down to stay in contact with this small handful of people as long as AA isn't involved. We don't need to " hit a meetin' " to hang out or catch up.
Just thought I'd share that here lol
