Hi everyone!
With Bank closing, I wanted to get a shiny Celebi with my own OT while I still could.
I tried PokeReader, but just couldn't get a shiny. I followed the steps, reached the target advance and still kept missing. After a lot of attempts, I decided to try making something for this encounter.
It's based on PokeReader's algorithm. I put the calculation and search into the tool and kept the encounter's timing conditions fixed (before each search, it sets up the game’s clock and a few timers the same way). This cuts down on timing variation and makes it easier to hit the predicted target (it won't change the DVs to make it shiny). That finally worked for me.
The target shows up in game. You pause, advance and press A yourself. If you miss, it finds another target.
I've only tested it on my New 3DS so far. If you're interested in trying it, could you let me know how it works on your 3DS? I'd appreciate any feedback or suggestions.

Update:
v1.3.0 seems to be working on other people’s New 3DS now! If you run into any more bugs, please let me know :)
v1.4.0 is out! I’ve fixed a few bugs to make things run more smoothly. If the target jumps too far ahead, you can now use Restart in the bottom-screen VC menu to start over. If you run into any more bugs, please let me know :)
Looks like my replies keep getting removed :( so I’ll leave this here:
- If RNG won’t work, could you try the test ZIP in GitHub issue #1 and post a photo of the whole startup message in a new issue? Thanks for trying it :)
- If you’re missing the
0004000000172800 folder, you can just make it yourself inside luma/plugins :) It’s the folder for English Crystal VC. You can also put the plugin directly in luma/plugins and rename it to default.3gx to use it as the global default.
I’ll keep improving it and fixing any issues that come up. If you find it helpful, a star on GitHub would mean a lot :)
