Performative doesn't mean it's not used, it just means they want you to see it and draw conclusions about the kind of person they are for having it. If they didn't want you to see it they'd have taken it off and stashed it behind the seat when they parked the trailer.
You seriously think people don't go through the trouble of removing their trailer hitch and reinstalling it because they want you to think they are a person that uses a trailer hitch????
Maybe it's because it's a pain in the ass to remove, store and reinstall, lol, and they don't give a fuck about your opinion of whether they use their trailer hitch.
I mean personally, I think it's weird that their car is blocking the sidewalk. If you can't park your vehicle legally you shouldn't be driving it. Seems they need to be in a sedan because they lack the spacial awareness for driving a truck.
It's not a pain in the ass. It's just pulling a pin. Leaving it on means you're constantly having to make sure you're not accidentally backing into shit because you've got a foot long stinger. It's earlier if you take it off.
It's a pain in the ass. I've got a million things to do in a day and that one is not getting done, and my not doing it isn't performative, it's just not necessary.
No. But imagining only your specific scenario to defend being inconsiderate of strollers, people walking side by side, wheelchairs or any other legitimate use of of a sidewalk absolutely is. You're weird.
Leaving it on means you're constantly having to make sure you're not accidentally backing into shit because you've got a foot long stinger.
Which is not really a big deal, if you have any clue what you are doing. Especially with modern pickups that have a backup camera that shows the hitch in the video.

Performative trailer hitches on performative pickups performatively parked.
And they complain about trans people needing their gender affirmed.
