I used to. Now I've got acid reflux.
6
u/24bics 3d ago
Same. Then I was prescribed pantoprozole. Fixed me right away. Happily eating my hot peppers again.
7
u/BigBananaBerries 3d ago
I've got omeprazole there & they do help but I've heard long term use can be damaging so I only take them when it's really bad. I've gave away my hot sauce collection to my Bro as it just gets ridiculous when you go hardcore with those. I'll stick with more milder stuff & less often then try suffer the consequences. If I don't eat too late I can usually deal with it but late spicey snacks omg. I almost wake up dead, choking on acid. Not fun times.

Is that actually something people experience? I eat very spicy meals regularly and never had that problem in my life. Not even in Thailand where my mouth very much disagreed with my decisions.

When I was younger it never happened. Now at age 31 a single hot sauce packet is enough to make sitting uncomfortable for a while after taking a dump.

A normal thing in kitchens, too, as steam from a dish will cause caking on the shaker and can cause mold growth from humidity entering the shaker.

There is what appears to be glass on the left side of the pizza so I would not be eating that at all.

Oh my. True story time. I went to lunch with a friend from work one time at a pizza place. Just the two of us and as he went to shake red pepper flakes on the top came off and it looked just like this. We were still "new" friends and he was an awkward guy. We both had a laugh and instead of confronting the waitress, or buying another one, or even trying to dump all the pepper onto the table... he removed the cap and then proceeded to "smooth out" all of the red pepper across the whole surface of his pizza to coat it evenly. While he was doing this I just sat there kind of staring and at one point the waitress walked up, saw what was happening, looked up at me, and then noped out and veered away from checking on our table. He then proceeded to painfully eat that whole pizza while crunching through mounds of red pepper flakes while I mutely looked on in astonishment.
He was a good friend for years. Still is a friend. Been a little awkward the whole time. Lol that shit still cracks me up and I'd forgotten about it. This picture triggered the memory so hard.

I get weird looks but i usually just open the shaker, pour it on the side, then sprinkle what I want by hand. I do this for 2 reasons
- This exact thing that happened to you
- A lot of shakers at pizza places use the lid with holes instead of slotted one with like 3 or 4 slits.
- Bigger flakes and seeds can't get through the holes like they can through the long slits so you're just stuck there shaking like crazy to fit the flakes through both the small holes AND the compacted flakes.
edit: i just noticed the whole shaker broke. but my point still stands

Man. Grew up in a place that had a quarter of a pizza and a drink for 2.50 back in the day. Huge slice of pizza. Broke me ate that for days
This dude I randomly ate with layered his pizza with a row of Parmesan. Then a row of flaky peppers. He had at least three layers of each covering the whole pizza. It was so bizarre. Like truly. It took like 15 minutes to finish. Had to go ask for extras.
I sat and watched it. By the middle of my journey, I realized he could just unscrew the tops. why didnāt he ever notice or realize that himself?
One of lifeās mysteries.
Dudes: an award. For that? Itās a nice thing to see this. May the random moments never leave us.

This happened to me the other day, but with the cheese. It spread all over the pizza and then I accidentally hit the paddle and the pozza went face down on the floor. I was already having a bad fay, but somehow all of that just made me laugh. It was just thr cherry on top.

Ugh, thatās gonna burn both ends of your digestive tract if you eat it. /s
Using a tabletop condiment container in a public restaurant is like Russian roulette, you have no idea what the people before you may have done to it. Loosening the lid was always a prank weād try to pull on each other growing up, but we made sure to tighten the lid before we left. Iāve also seen flies crawling in and out of the lids, you know theyāve left something behind.

Oof. I hate when condiment shakers break open like that. Hopefully the shaker itself was easy to remove from the pizza, b/c this looks delicious. Here in Southwest G'zourkiland we love our pepper flakes. G'zourki-style pizza actually has more pepperflakes than cheese most of the time. There's a common misconception here that we started baking the flakes directly into the pizza to avoid incidents just like this from happening.
