I’m learning this is a common prank :(

That's gonna feel great in about 4 hours

Haha this was a few months ago. I was fine! Thankfully I’ve got an iron stomach

I used to. Now I've got acid reflux.

u/24bics 3d ago

Same. Then I was prescribed pantoprozole. Fixed me right away. Happily eating my hot peppers again.

u/BigBananaBerries 3d ago

I've got omeprazole there & they do help but I've heard long term use can be damaging so I only take them when it's really bad. I've gave away my hot sauce collection to my Bro as it just gets ridiculous when you go hardcore with those. I'll stick with more milder stuff & less often then try suffer the consequences. If I don't eat too late I can usually deal with it but late spicey snacks omg. I almost wake up dead, choking on acid. Not fun times.

No long term use here. I took it for about a month and never had the issue again. Gastro doc told me to just take Prilosec OTC if I ever had a flare up. That was almost 2 years ago already. Fortunately, still good. 🤞

Is that actually something people experience? I eat very spicy meals regularly and never had that problem in my life. Not even in Thailand where my mouth very much disagreed with my decisions.

They are weak and their bloodlines will be forgotten.

u/muffinscrub 3d ago

My mouth can tolerate a lot of spice, my insides? Not so much

u/Nik6ixx 3d ago

I’m just finding a lot of people have IBS because I never understood how Taco Bell fucks everyone’s stomach up and there’s me “you wanna go to Taco Bell?!” 😂

When I was younger it never happened. Now at age 31 a single hot sauce packet is enough to make sitting uncomfortable for a while after taking a dump.

u/chokidokido 3d ago

I'm 41, so hopefully I dodged this development.

u/levian_durai 3d ago

Absolutely. I enjoy spicy food but past a certain point it upsets my stomach and I'll have spicy shits.

You are luckier than you may ever know in that regard.. my dad and I love spicy stuff. Buffalo hot wings as often as we could afford growing up. As soon as we were done, straight to the closest store to get each of us a personal bottle of Pepto for the night, sometimes that didn’t quite cover it.. thanks to all that punishment I can handle most spicy things without an issue or Pepto assistance but boy was it a painful journey..

Seems like I'm lucky reading all those replies. I do get some heartburn from weird foods like oatmeal though but that's easier to not eat than my lovely spicy things.

You are quite lucky and I’m quite envious lol. I’m sure the envy will increase when I inevitably get stomach and gi tract issues later in life but honestly, worth it. Life would be much emptier without all the wonderful and delicious spicy foods the world has to offer

What's goes in hot comes out hot

Dude, I can't eat a goddamn jalapeno slice, I ate them from 20 years or so, then want to baseball game got some nachos w some on it. From that point in my life anytime I have them I feels like something is cutting my intestines, I can feel where it's at down there from the radiating pain. Been 20+ years still haven't learned my lesson though, Indian food is the devil at least thai people know how to remove the peppers when asked lol.

u/Fog_Juice 3d ago

For me it's about 11 hours later. My body rushes it out so it doesn't have time form a solid and it burns just as bad coming out as it did going in, but no milk to wash it down.

1

u/Mikeymcmoose 3d ago

Yes, it burns on the way out like it goes in. Thais definitely are not immune to stomach problems, lol.

The uncooked flakes can be eaten without really registering the heat if they're just added at the end. I believe they may even skip proper digestion so the capsaicin doesn't really leave the flakes until it's too late to absorb it.

I've had deadly hot sauces, never really an issue despite it being so hot I had a spiritual awakening, but dry chili flakes have gotten me the next day for sure.

u/GildDigger 3d ago

Same! I’ve never gotten a stomach ache from spice except with extract (which doesn’t really count imo)

2

u/CKRatKing 3d ago

They are talking about it burning on the way out.

2

u/sfaviator 3d ago

I envy you my body would suffer much longer

1

u/xxhighlanderxx 3d ago

As would I. That looks delicious

1

u/Kaozz4718 3d ago

Shit, that's how I eat mine too.

1

u/souson321 3d ago

You are my hero of today’s. I just wanted to let you know

1

u/JVXCIX 3d ago

Are you a bird? Birds love seeds and don’t experience spicy the way humans do

1

u/rexallia 3d ago

This is how I prefer my pizza

1

u/Commercial_Let_1422 3d ago

Just the right amount!

1

u/Paranoma 2d ago

I mean that’s the establishments problem if you don’t want to eat it. They owe you another slice.

2

u/GildDigger 2d ago

I did report it and got another slice! So I downed both lol

u/DuckCleaning 3d ago

Your shaker broke into shards though, not just a lid issue

30

u/BigBullCaptLongDong 3d ago

That's what I thought at first too but then I noticed the piece of glass on the pizza too. Did you squeeze the jar so hard it exploded?

3

u/grandpaswear55 3d ago

Got too excited lol

1

u/IDownvotedYouToday 3d ago

Is it glass or plastic? It's been a while since I've been to a Blaze pizza but most shakers are plastic.

2

u/No-Pollution2425 1d ago

Plastic, op said

73

u/edfitz83 3d ago

That’s why you always shake salt, pepper, whatever into your palm to control the amount

37

u/rada-rada_rada-rada 3d ago

16

u/HPTM2008 3d ago

A normal thing in kitchens, too, as steam from a dish will cause caking on the shaker and can cause mold growth from humidity entering the shaker.

2

u/rada-rada_rada-rada 3d ago

In a restaurant kitchen where you're constantly washing your hands, that makes sense.

4

u/HPTM2008 3d ago

It's taught in cooking classes, too, that you should be doing this at home as well. It's also a way to control how much seasoning you're putting in your dish. If you're just shaking it in, you don't know exactly how much you just put in. You can also use measuring spoons (or a scale, which would be preferable in any scenario because then it's the exact same every time), but just raw doging that shaker into your food is generally not a good idea.

2

u/AlternativeFilm8886 3d ago

Beautiful amalgameme

2

u/Tough_Pollution 3d ago

Salt to hand, hand to pan. Charles Boyle taught me that

3

u/edfitz83 3d ago

It’s Boyle’s law

1

u/nyancatya_ 3d ago

I always do this, that and checking how tight the lid is (it sounds overkill but it takes like less than a couple seconds more of your time really)

1

u/ZachYeamans 3d ago

Oh yeah, growing up we'd always loosen the lid on the pepper flakes and the parmessan shakers.

1

u/PhilsTinyToes 3d ago

Old sugar pouring things were perfect.. you’d take lid off, napkin on the hole, turn upside down and slide the napkin out. Wipe away the evidence, place the lid on the top (bottom), and some sucker is going to lift it up and rhe whole thing falls out 👀

1

u/AngelLK16 3d ago

Prank? They deserve to pay.

1

u/Acceptable_Weight344 2d ago

Always tighten the lid on the red pepper and the cheese before shaking. Always.
