“Mess” in the first picture just being 3 small bottles, a small pack of wipes and a candle 🙄

I honestly hate this mentality. That’s not “mess”. It’s called living in a house. A friend of ours has his house like a fucking furniture show room. Literally nothing on any surface anywhere. The kitchen looks like it’s never used (not even a kettle or anything out) and even the toilet roll in the bathroom lives in a cupboard. Genuinely makes me feel sad that someone can be so anal.

Makes me feel like OP doesn't like evidence of their partner existing there.

Right? This is some crazy power tripping. If I were the partner in this scenario I'd think OP was trying to help create more room for me in the bathroom. Not that it's a long term strategy of reducing my toiletries and belongings.

Yep. I stayed in a house once where the dad went off on his daughter for the state of her room. There were two things visible on her nightstand. I can't imagine living like that.

Homes are for living in, not display.
