does she have ADHD? i have ADHD and one thing i experience is that because my short term memory is impaired, i leave things out in visible locations so i remember they exist in the first place. to people without ADHD, we look insane and messy, but i promise it has a purpose. if she’s your daughter, then it’s worth considering

My husband is always hiding my snacks or, as he puts it, putting them on the snacks shelf in the pantry

Husband wonders why we have 5 of everything.

It’s because if I can’t see it, it doesn’t exist.

Bins and drawers and cupboards might as well be the Bermuda Triangle. I have no recollection of putting things there, much less which one I put it in, but it made sense when I did it.

So I buy another.

I’m always frustrated because my important drawer and my junk drawer are way too full and I can’t see easily. I have 6 other kitchen drawers, albeit smaller. They have nothing in them. Well maybe something but I couldn’t tell you. Probably spatulas I forgot existed in the back of a corner.

I need the drawers to be “really important look here” or “I don’t neeed this it’s junk” and I can’t categorize beyond that or it falls apart.

My BIL has 30 big black bins full of shit. All carefully labeled.

They STAY full of shit that never gets looked at or touched. But at least it’s up in bins, I guess.

The alternative is my husband, who has nothing. His spaces are tidy and he hates “gadgets” and clutter.

BUT he’s always like “do WE have a… ?” And the And the answer is always “yes, I have that…let me go find it.”

My partner drives me nuts with this. He says the same thing, if he can't see it, it isn't there. I hate clutter so this is a recurring issue.

Have you considered that you could work on the distaste of clutter.

My wife cant use the kitchen without first cleaning it. I imagine it must be quite a drain. Whereas I just move through the mess and live my life.

Im more about hygiene. For example I use iso to clean with paper towel and my wife drags a wet rag over all surfaces.

I've tried. I can live with it awhile but my anxiety can't live with it full time.

We at one point had 5 large hand soap refills. He was like, please, no more hand soap!

I have 30 pairs of socks because if my cats steal them from the laundry basket, I'm going to forget they were even there to begin with

Yeah. I have to open the cupboards every couple of days to remind myself everything we have. Basically any time I cook.

I'm always putting my snacks in the pantry and then my husband is like "you ever gonna finish this" like yes I just forgot about it 😭😭

Well once they go in the pantry they cease to exist in this universe, so.
