Question WaveBlaster allocation experiences?

Post image

Talked to a dealer about about allocating a WaveBlaster, originally told me it’s a typical $500 deposit then when I was ready to sign up their manager changed it to $1000 non refundable claiming my ski order will pull from the amount of Yamahas they are allowed to order and it’s to ensure I’m serious.

This isn’t a huge deal but obviously it’s 2026 I could be wrong but it doesn’t seem like anyone has gotten one yet, they have not ETA and no confirmation when they will get one. They did say in the circumstance the production is limited and they don’t receive one I will get a refund just not if I change my mind.

Let me know your opinions or experience if you’ve tried to allocate yet.

Production on this doesn't even start until next year. If that factory in Japan can make 2,000 units for next year, it will be a miracle.

Rumor I keep hearing is 400 units, unclear if that’s total or for the first year. Also to be taken with a grain of salt I don’t believe Yamaha ever announced that.

Based on dealers it seems legit. First year Superjet was also super hard to get. They’re made in Japan and apparently that facility just doesn’t make a lot of skis.

Yeah, 2,000 is an ambitious total global production possibility for 2027 model year. US usually gets about 60-70% of that output. This thing is made in the same factory/line as the SJ. Very, very "hand made" as compared to the couches in McDonough GA. It's going to be pretty rare, and may be 2-3 years before you just see one just sitting in a showroom with a tag hanging from the grip. Some dealers here may get 6-10 units (Riva North, etc) and some dealers won't even order them. Some will order one and not get it. Some will order 3 and get 1. It's the way it is

Call their bluff, just tell them no thanks and leave it as is. Ski sales are way down, its just a hard market for a lot of people to justify an expensive toy that tanks in value immediately and is not good on gas.

I bet the dealer will be calling you back within a couple days or weeks.

This is the only driveable dealer I’ve found that even advertises the WaveBlaster, I guess that’s the cons of living rural im just getting fomo if I don’t lock something in it’ll be a run of 400 and I won’t find one.

Even though this is going to be a nostalgic option for a lot of people, I promise you the demand isn't going to be as high as dealers are "hoping". $12,000 for a single seater, non stable, non cruiser, no features, no luxury items and a tiny 5 gallon fuel tank means this is really is just a 90's ski. The most fuel efficient ski on the planet, which is a SeaDoo Spark with its Rotax 900 has a 7.9 gallon tank, so almost 3 gallons more.

People will buy it, but this overhyped expectation from dealerships is far from reality, don't let them take advantage of you.

I will agree and disagree a bit, the superjet also has a 5 gallon tank although much more demanding than the WaveBlaster, you don’t get on a WaveBlaster and cruise around for hours on end honestly my WB1 beats me up by hour 3 they were nostalgic because they’re not stable and have no features, they didn’t overcomplicate a retro design with screens and buttons.

The TR-1 gets significantly better fuel efficiency than my 2-stoke WB1 and the reliability of a modern 4-stroke I think if Yamaha keeps production low and profitable for themselves I could see this as a limited run to make people happy and build some brand hype.

The $12,000 price point is steep in today’s market but nothing is getting cheaper and as people have pointed out before the original wave blasters adjusted for inflation did cost more

Man the 62t in the wb1 is about as reliable as motors get and half the weight of a tr1. Not to mention it can be run upside down and injest some water without issues. That said if the new WB was 8-9k id be buying one asap. 12k just seems too much and id rather just get another wb1.

Bro they sold the superjet stand up for $10,000 and it was impossible to get first AND second year lol.

No way less people want a small sit down than those that ride stand up.

Talked to a big dealer in PA and they said only 300 are coming to the US. I agree that ski sales are down… but if you want the first year colorway I’d scoop one up quick

For context. Last week I put down a $500 REFUNDABLE deposit at 3 different dealers in Southern California.

Call another dealer.

The thing that kills me is that one of the dealers has a $3500 markup. I would NEVER pay that, but I’m sure some fools do.

What dealers? I'm in San Diego and want a new Waveblaster to go with my B1.

The standard is a $500 refundable deposit, I put a deposit on a 2027 superjet ($500 refundable) about 2 months ago and once it arrived at the dealer last week they asked for payment or to pull out. From what my dealer told me, they don’t get to just order skis when someone wants a specific model. Each dealer gets allocations and they get a set number of units to sell. Given the limited run of the wave blaster it might be different, I would call around to a few dealers and see what the others say. Good luck finding one!

I’m very limited on powersports dealers where I live, the other dealer I called said I could do a $500 deposit and seemed all good until I realized they thought I was talking about a 2027 jetblaster, when I corrected them and informed them of the WaveBlaster they honestly sounded confused and didn’t know anything about it. Not that it’s a huge deal breaker but definitely a red flag I’d hate to wait 4 months with a deposit for the wrong ski.
They do however have a leftover 2026 GP1800 SVHO for $17000 OTD with a trailer, I have a multi ski trailer so I could sell that or keep it but I really want the new WaveBlaster to compliment my WB1.

I called Riva day of announcement after Vegas and Phoenix couldn’t or wouldn’t let me preorder. He said they got four and I was third in line. I put $1000 down right there.

He called later and said they only got two and both were sold. Said I could keep my deposit down and he’d try to get another one.

He texted again on September 9th he was able to get me one.

$14,499 OTD but I have to ship it to Arizona so it’s gonna be a bit of an ordeal lol.

Worth it though. WB2 my fave ski of all time and I loved the WB1 before I got old (50 in December).

A four stroke one person small ski is end game for me.

I'm curious, non refundable? If they fail to deliver can you move the deposit to another unit? I'm not a fan of this script

2

u/MeatRepresentative73 20h ago

The non refundable got me a bit but they are claiming it’s refundable up until the unit is guaranteed from Yamaha once Yamaha allocates the dealer the unit I can’t get a deposit back

Yamaha doesn’t make a Ski which sells second it hits the floors (earlier this year my dealer had brand new 2023).

It might be like the Crosswave where they don’t actually make any, but odds are your dealer isn’t ordering any unless they have the money up front.

Dealer salesman here... We ordered 6 Waveblasters and Yamaha at first said they'd try to get us more as we already sold all of them. Then they said we might not get all 6. According to them, nobody will see one until March at the earliest.

For the deposit, we typically ask for $500, but with this one being popular (as well as the RXP-X 350 Senna) we are only taking $1,000 non refundable deposits.

2

u/MeatRepresentative73 23h ago

Can I ask how the non refundable works if you don’t get all 6? That’s what the dealer seemed iffy on answering, if I put a deposit on a 2027 at what point in 2027 will I get a refund if they can’t fulfill it? It’s so questionable with the low production speculation I’m sure the non refundable just scares me

1

u/gaige23 20h ago

My assumption is they won’t trickle down throughout the year so the dealer will know pretty fast if they get enough and should refund pretty quickly after.

1

u/MeatRepresentative73 20h ago

Called the dealer for a few more questions and now they want a credit app before placing the order with Yamaha said none are currently on order through then and it’s a newer dealer……. Might have to pass on this attempt just seems like a lot and they don’t even know when or if they’ll get one

1

u/gaige23 20h ago

Ya I wouldn’t do that either.

If they didn't order any back in August, they're prolly SOL for this year. For the deposit, we would refund it if we couldn't get one. Or sometimes, customers are ok with us holding the deposit and applying it to a 2028 model. Just depends.
