ive seen this mentioned in past threads but whoever moderates FF reddit closes them fast and ive not seen an answer as to why these sponsored links are here. unless they dont like people speaking about it, but i dont know. i dont use AP, or wikipedia & its interesting that reddit is in that list. im seeking a solution to remove them, and also an answer as to why theyre there. it also seems FF wipes my history , becasue when i launch even seconds after using FF for hours , my history is empty

There is an extension called Unbiased for reddit but it does not work anymore. Do you know any extension that can do the same?

you pick sites (youtube, reddit etc), and when you open one it asks for a goal and a time limit. goal stays on screen, tabs close when time's
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/why-am-i-here-focus-timer/
https://github.com/hlophlopgaming/Why-am-I-here-Focus-Timer
haven't tested it on android yet, so if someone tries it there let me knowyou pick sites (youtube, reddit etc), and when you open one it asks for a goal and a time limit. goal stays on screen, tabs close when time's up.

That's it. I received a survey while using Firefox. The survey was asking about the language used for content, since I live in Germany but has setup my install in English. Then they were interested if I preferred the news and ads in English or in the local language.
I hope this is opt-out, I am not really interested on this and brings some questions about privacy

I want to bind a combination of hotkeys to open context menu of the current tab. The current way involves too many steps or require right-click the tab on the tab bar.
Any addon or macro would be fine.

First, thank you in advance if you choose to read this long asinine post and contribute. It's a simple call for personal input derived from your particular experiences with Firefox.
Since many in this group acclimated to Firefox after using other browsers - I'm hoping you might suggest some tips, extensions, wizardly keyboard shortcuts... Basically anything you have found to improve its performance for your needs. I'll watch YouTubes (yeah yeah yeah, they're Google, but through DuckDuckGo, I don't need the app), read blogs, follow *trustworthy* reg edits, try emulators - I don't know what the options are, hence this post.
My online existence began with Telnet, when 4k was the price tag on a decent 386. Windows 3.1, AOL, Netscape - all game changers. When IE was introduced, I used it well into the Windows 2000 era until Firefox became a powerful rival. When Android smart phones became affordable and Chrome was the native browser, it supplanted Firefox as my go-to - and its searches were superior for an infovore. That was a long damn time ago.
I decided to start de-Googling. I've had plenty of Opera, Safari, and DuckDuckGo experience. Apple was out of the question, and Opera seemed to be strong but not as widely accepted by pages, and had fewer add-ons for efficiency. I opted for Firefox as my primary browser once again, with DDG as a secondary search tool and browser. Data was exported and then the Chrome program scraped, as best as possible, from my devices. I migrated back to Mozilla Firefox for both Android and PC. I know that Google Analytics is pervasive, but it's a process.
ANYWAY, tldr: I'm finding it to be a bit challenging to adapt to the current Firefox in different ways and input would be welcome.
Some of the nit-picky things I miss about Chrome and would love to find solutions for:
- Image searches. Right-clicking for Google image search or Lens to give direction to my searches was invaluable. It made work easier, research broader - and it spoiled me.
- The shopping function. It plain sucks in comparison. Is there an extension to improve price searches?
- Suspending tabs without manually "unloading" each. Chrome had its issues with running an abundance of processes, but it was easy to set it up to put those tabs to sleep.
- Keyboard shortcuts as simple as CTL+B, for instance. In nearly every program except Firefox, formatting text as bold is what it does. I don't need my bookmarks bar to open with that 2-key command. Getting into the mapping is over my head. I just know that for me it's better-suited for formatting text fields like this.
- Google Sheets and Docs. Indispensable alternatives to Office are crucial tools for me.
Thank you again. Cheers.

Does anyone know whether there's a timeline? I'm particularly interested in a timeline for Firefox for Mac, because I imagine support for various platforms might not necessarily arrive at the same time.

I tried searching for a website I know that I visited a few months ago, and it was completely missing from my history. I took a closer look, and it seems like only ~10 entries are available for any given day. I visit way more pages than that. What happened to the rest?

I just noticed it was gone. Was it moved somewhere else, or is it gone entirely now?
PC version of the browser, not mobile, in the United States.

Is there a way to disable on a per site basis this gesture? My issue is reading pdfs on kami scrolling left on my trackpad seems to be enough to trigger the back binding and its getting really annoying.

Hi,
I am on windows 10.
I have a lot of tabs open constantly. And it seems like about every 3 to 5 days, my firefox crashes.
When ever I restart my session, it only restores my tabs from months ago.
recovery.jsonlz4 is dated october 4th
upgrade.jsonlz4 is dated sept 17th
sessionstore.jsonlz4 is dated may 14th
I have a lot of sessionrestore errors in sessionstore-logs
SessionStore WARN SessionWriter.write, Caught exception:: InternalError: allocation size overflow(moz-src:///browser/components/sessionstore/SessionWriter.sys.mjs:227:23) JS Stack trace: [write@SessionWriter.sys.mjs](mailto:write@SessionWriter.sys.mjs):227:23 [write@SessionWriter.sys.mjs](mailto:write@SessionWriter.sys.mjs):72:42
I set firefox to save my tabs about every 15 minutes
I have 48GB of ram
Can anyone help?
PS:backup file size seems to be caped at a maximum of 360Mb

I have experienced an out of memory error twice in the last two days. Yesterday was on my personal laptop with 16gb of ram on Ubuntu.
Today I saw it on a MacBook with 48gb of ram.
I keep countable tabs in the range of a dozen or two at max, generally email, jira and yt music.

I have been using Firefox frequently enough on my phone (for a year now) that I have amassed an extraordinarily prolific history of visited pages and open tabs on a guest profile. I would like to register an account to make some mobility / a migration capacity possible. How certainly can someone assure me I will not lose my year of history (and preferably the few tens of tabs I have actively open) upon creating an account from the same app on my device?

As it said in the title. Unpausing just causes the videos to play for a frame at most, before aggressively pausing back. The problem seemingly persists when any video is played, and is not just limited to Youtube. Twitter, Tiktok, and hell, even videos on Wikipedia all seem to face the same issue.
I've already turned off all my extensions including Ublock, I've already deleted my cache and browsing data, and I've reinstalled only for none of it to work.

Hi all,
Not a visual complained about the update, but something that got broken and I can't get fixed.
I use two Firefox accounts with different email addresses for personal and work use. My work pc has both. This seems to function the same as separate profiles but with an extra degree of separation.
I have always used two icons in the taskbar to keep these separate.
After the update, I can't manage to make them open as an instance of the shortcut. They open as new instances with the standard icon. They do bundle correctly though!
I followed this guide, which explicitly says to pin the profile shortcuts from the start menu: Pin a specific Firefox profile to the Windows taskbar and always launch the correct profile. ยท GitHub
Any ideas? Thanks!

I'm trying to download some PDFs, but whenever I do, Firefox opens them in another tab and I can't actually download it until it's done loading, with no indicator of how long that will be. Sometimes the "download link" option works, and from my experience when it does, the PDF downloads noticably faster than it takes for the sams PDF to load in the viewer.
Every post I've seen discussing this issue only seems to give solutions for the desktop version rather than Android.

hi, so i was watching some random bullshit anime on some website that probably won't exist in 5 years. it's a nice site actually but every time the subtitles pop up or go away the video stretches verically slightly (weird I know) like it's making room on the video for the subtitle, so I changed it from the site's player to Firefox's native player and it works as normal, but Firefox's native player kinda sucks? I can't find any subtitle options at all, is there some kind of extension I can download or did I miss something? thanks
