Boulder Ridge Contract Analysis

I’d appreciate any feedback or missing parts when evaluating different contracts for Boulder Ridge. My use case is only needing DVC for the next 15 years hence why I’m looking at shorter length contracts. Due to family size I will be in need of a 2 bedroom for most stays. Trips will generally occurred in late May to early June or mid December. Trying to average between 7-9 days per trip per year.

Thanks in advance!

Polynesian Resort

Hi! Long time DVC member. Home reports are Animal Kingdom and HHI. 90% of the time we stay at Saratoga because we enjoy it. We have a lot of points and need to get rid of some, so booked 7 nights at Poly in April. We booked Deluxe Studio Preferred view. I just want to make sure if anyone knows that is NOT the new tower. We do not want to stay in there. Thank you!

Nuts and bolts

I have researched so much and just need someone to tell me what to do or what to look for on DVC resale listings:

  1. We are definitely going DVC resale
  2. We are not picky about resorts
  3. We want to go to DW at least twice a year (live out of state but within driving distance)
  4. I think my priority is to get as many points as possible, right, when looking to buy? This is my question I suppose, when looking at listings, what should I be looking for, and what would you consider “a good buy” for us?

Boulder Ridge Contract Thoughts on resale December use year.

So I placed an offer on a boulder ridge contract that has 26 points banked from 2025 and 202 points for 2026 remaining then it returns to the normal 350 points per December use year. I offered 100 per point and the seller countered at 105, which I accepted they originally were offering the contract at 108. The seller is paying maintenance for 2025 & 2026, then I take over in 2027.

What do you think of the deal terms was 105 a good cost per point? Also what do you think the chance are that this passes ROFR?

Too many points is never enough

I am a DVC first-timer, and we just bought 160 points at Animal Kingdom Villas. Our plan was to do three Sun-Thur stays in early May, late September, and early December each year.

The resale contract we purchased came loaded with 150 banked points over our 2026 allocation, so we started looking at how we could spend our first year. As we explored “splurge” options, we realized we really valued the extra space that one bedrooms offered. One thing led to another and we decided to purchase a second contract at Saratoga Springs, this time for 250 points.

We are now sitting on a 410-point annual allocation. For those who have been DVC members for a while, is that enough to truly enjoy the program? Trying to avoid succumbing to addonitis again.

For context, we are a married couple in our late 30s with no kids (yet). We typically travel on our own, but will occasionally invite family or friends to join us. Our goal is to sleep around at various resorts and are flexible on where we stay. We want to stay at AKV during the holidays, but otherwise prefer MK or Epcot area properties. We are open to the occasional studio (especially at Poly), but mostly want 1 br villas

Riviera Sold Out? Add-on Special?

Just got an email offering discounts on 75-99 add-on points at Riviera now that it's 95% sold. Anyone investigate the pricing yet?

UPDATE 1: I was looking back at my old contracts - we bought for $180/point in Spring, 2021. $217/point in Spring 2023. Should have stocked up in 2021!

Member services resale experience

Hi all, I had what I think was a weird/negative experience with calling member services. I’m not entirely sure if it was normal or not. First and foremost, I’m relatively new to DVC as I inherited mom’s resale contract when she passed away earlier this year. I’ve already sent an email to member services about this experience, and wanted to post here to gauge if this is normal or not.

Last week was my first time using any points since she passed and we had a nice (although very rainy) stay at Boulder Ridge. Our flight got cancelled on our checkout day, so I called member services around 10:30 am to see if there were any options for booking a one night stay. In total I think we had to call twice and collectively wait on hold for 40 minutes as the first call just went silent after a while, but when we did get through (this is the part I thought was weird/unexpected), the first thing the representative said was that because we had a resale contract, they could only help but so much. This notion was repeated several times as well as by a supervisor, and we ended up being on the phone for over an hour. What was happening on the DVC side was a pattern of finding a room, beginning to reserve it, and then immediately losing the reservation. The resale contract difference was reiterated, and I kind of felt like I was being admonished for not owning direct—a choice I didn’t make and stated at one point on the call because it was starting to get to me. I just thought it was kind of weird and not like Disney, but maybe that’s normal now, idk tell me if I’m wrong.

We ended up giving up on DVC and having to refresh the WDW site over and over to find a room at All Star Movies, about $300 out of pocket which was not ideal but at least we had a place. Like I said, I reached out to provide feedback already, but the whole thing just left me feeling a bit off. It would be one thing if they just outright said no rooms were available, but the correlation with my contract type is what I found to be confusing and off putting.

EDIT: Thanks for the replies, everyone. Like a lot of you, I'm hoping/assuming this was just a poorly handled one-time thing rather than a policy. It seems most likely that the subtext was there were restricted rooms that could have been available to me if I had a direct contract, but they didn't word it very well. I will share any sort of reply that comes from DVC here.

Better to waitlist resort views or special views?

I'm currently wanting to waitlist something in Jan and wondering, based on peoples experiences, whether it would be more likely for a wait-list to pop on a resort view or lets say, a Savannah view. If there is any difference

First day of DVC membership!

Bought resale as we are from the UK, but just got access to our account and instantly added on a couple of nights for our already booked trip next year!!!!

It’s only a very small contract, as we tend to book a package with the excellent deals the UK already gets, then add a couple or so nights at a deluxe. But having the “DVC Member” added onto MDE, the updated pass….

Just wanted to share as I feel like nobody around me gets it, but I guess it is a niche club for something 4000 miles away for us. Anyway I’ve waited until this moment to hit “Join” on the sub!!!

Which resort studio (Copper Creek or Polynesian) is best for when you use an ECV? I have MS and it can be quite progressive. Good advice is very welcome!

DISNEYLAND Direct opportunities?

Hello. Is it possible to still buy direct at Grand California? is any direct at Disneyland available or is a new DVC opportunity coming there with the expansion? Also, visiting WDW in two weeks, is there a DVC setup yet to view the new Lakeshore Lodge?

ROFR at Saratoga

I have a resale contract pending for SSR. 150 pts/$96 per points, full points available from 2026 use year with seller paying dues on those points. I’ve seen some interesting trends with Disney grabbing more SSR contracts but I can’t find anything that shows what any of those contracts were valued at. Anyone have any insight into what makes these contracts more attractive to Disney?

Connecting DVC to WDW account?

Hi, recent DVC resale purchaser here. I am curious if we have to connect our DVC membership account number to our WDW account and in the app? I have already used our points to book trips, and have linked those reservations to our WDW accounts, but now I’m wondering if there is a way to have my DVC membership linked to my WDW account and if so how do I do it? Can it be done in the app or has to be on a computer?

Thank you all!

Vero Beach DVC - Can you use points to stay at WDW?

Hello, I'm sure this has been asked before, but I couldn't find it anywhere so apologies in advance if this is a repeat question.

We currently own at Poly and are thinking about buying a second property, but considering resale this time. We've noticed there are some Vero Beach and Hilton Head contracts with a good amount of points for less money. We know about the dues and that the deed expires in 2042, but honestly, we're mainly focused on how many points we'd get for the price.

So here's my question: Can I use those resale points to book at Poly or Copper Creek? Basically, can I use points from those off-site properties to stay at WDW?

TYIA !

Renter Reservation Changes

I’m renting points and am not a DVC member. We’re adding a member to our party. I messaged the seller and she said she would add her back in July. She hasn’t. I’ve messaged a couple more times and she will either not respond at all or “thumbs up” my request. Is it possible to do this myself if I’m not a DVC member? I want them to be on the reservation so we can book lightening lanes together.

Golf Carts at The Cabins

Curious what everyone does in regards to golf carts at The Cabins: do you buy and bring your own or do you rent one? Buying a golf cart is much more expensive than I thought it would be, and then have to either get a trailer to bring it with me, or find somewhere to store it. Renting is probably easier, but that $75-$100/day price is gonna start adding up. So I’m curious what everyone else is doing!

Has anyone bought AP with points and not activated in a year?

I realize this is a small subset of people. I bought an annual pass with points. It’s supposed to be activated within a year but plans changed and we won’t be able to activate it. Normal annual pass the value is retained and you’d just pay the difference when you want to active. When I asked DVC customer service they said they don’t know what happens and it would likely be lost since it was bought with points. Super helpful response. Just curious if anyone has been in this situation. Thanks.

I noticed that the SSR add-on promo has ended and BLT now has the little special offer logo.

Has anyone in this Sub reached out to a CM Salesperson to see what the discount is?

Resort only Christmas trip

I have points that will be expiring in the next couple months and was thinking about doing a resort only Christmas trip. We’d be checking in Christmas Eve or the day prior if I can snag Jollywood tickets. Have any of you done anything like this and care to share your experience? I’d also want to have a Christmas Day dinner somewhere in the resorts, heavy theming a must! Ive never been during the Christmas season so I’m interested to hear if Jollywood is worth it with younger kids! Thanks for any tips :)

Home resort

I am doubting between Copper Creek, Polynesian Resort and Grand Floridian. How difficult is it to book a studio at the 11 month mark for somewhere between september and februari/march? I love the look of the Wilderness lodge, but I have read that they only have 78 studios which isn't much.
