Finally got a good working dreamcast!

There was something that bothered me for a while. Every console, except the Dreamcast, had a Dragon Ball game on it. Even the OG Xbox got one. It's probably because Dragon Ball was in that weird limbo period where GT just ended and in like 2000, 2001 DBZ was getting popular on Toonami. Plus Sega's financial situation didn't help either.

So here's the question: what would it be like if Atari/Bandai and DIMPS made a Dragon Ball Z for the Dreamcast? Here are visuals of a SUPER SUPER EARLY decomp of Dragon Ball Z: Budokai from the PlayStation 2. I used Opus 5.5 to convert all the assets to be usable and am gradually trying to convert the game's code to be near 1: 1 to the original game. And my godness, the decompiled C code is a mess lol. Currently in Flycast, the game is running at around 30FPS so optimizations will end up coming later. Right now, this is just a personal project I wanted to do while I was working on another software.

Was able to grab the Retrofighters blue controller. While not the exact color as my blue shelled DC, I love to have this all blue setup including the VMU.

One thing that always bothered me was never finding a working ROM for San Francisco Rush 2049, Pal version.

If this was also your case, worry no more my friend. I removed the error from the Echelon version that was stopping the game from working on an european console.

I know “Retro.Cool” & “Muramasa“ sells high quality replacement shells, along with the super talented artist who makes customized Dreamcast shells as well.

But the white, cream coloured shells of the original Dreamcast is just unbeatable. There’s an eBay seller from Australia that sells shells with the SEGA logo on them. But they still lack the “Powered by Windows CE” logo which looks so good and is a huge part of the Dreamcast.

Anywhere I can buy White Shells?

I got this in a pile of parts and not sure if it's a paint job or third party reshell. The reddish logo on the lid throws me off. Sega logo looks ok at the front, not sure if the reshells usually have that

I don’t even own a Dreamcast! I just really like the cartoon and wanted the game.

I recently found an old sega Dreamcast VMU in my grandparents basement. It uses CR2032 batteries but I just want to use it as a cool little gadget because it has a custom date and time screen. The problem is, it has no off button. Instead of turning off, it goes into sleep mode, slowly draining the battery. Im trying to find one big battery that I can put in that has a longer battery life. I dont want to modify it or get a new one like the VMU pro. If you have any ideas, feel free to comment!

I checked on Ebay and haven't been able to find one of these RetroTink versions. I have the RetroTink 5X Pro and looking for a RGB SCART Cable I can get in the US. How much difference is there between some of the other brands that dont list the "Improved sync combiner circuit designed by RetroTink, which resolves sync issues with Interlaced signals." ??

Gameplay from my Dreamcast via the RetroTink4k. This is one of my favorite games from my childhood despite never beating it. Excited to finally see this through to the end this month 💙 I remember it being a charming horror game I could actually play at 13 years old.

I've also scanned the Japanese manual today and chucked both on Vimm's Lair and the Internet Archive. I'd really like to find someone to do a retranslation of the Japanese manual as some of the mechanics (particularly around the SOM/neural network, which takes up basically an entire VMU's storage) are obtuse enough without the bad translations making it worse. Such a fun game and such amazingly 1999-core visuals!
