Trim/tilt noise when raising?

Got myself a boat with a Honda BF100A (2024). Engine is only on 60hrs and has been stood a while, although serviced in June.

Tis a bit noisy/slow when raising. Am I right to assume there's some air in there and topping off with fluid should see me right? Potentially drop the fluid to check for any presence of water? Something more sinister? Cheers!

You need to bleed the trim system and top off the fluid. That noise is air / cavitation of the pump. I bet after you trim up and down a few times and pop the resivor cap, itll be super foamy.

Slow is for in water-precise trim. Fast is for ‘raising the motor’ for transport. I don’t think anything is wrong.

Slow in the bottom is normal as others have mentioned. I do hear the air. May need to add a bit of fluid

I'm no expert, but it's usually a deeper hum. Not sure if problem or not.

For clarity I am aware trim is slow, tilt is fast. The tilt/trim appears all good when lowering but when raising the trim particularly is very noisy and noticeably slower than on the way down. There is still a good amount of noise when tilting upwards too.

Just check the level of fluid in the pump. She sounds good

Sounds like you might need to fill your tilt trim reservoir also doesn't hurt to put some marine grease on the little polls that push the engine up

I'm not hearing any air. The transition between slow and fast is solid. I'll bet it's quieter in the water.

Air. Bleed it.

How can people afford these things without having any common sense in the first place? Like how ? It’s a simple ass google, and this is like step 1 of using a boat with an outboard

I gather you were conceived on an outboard then. I tried googling waaaaahgrrrrsshhhweee and it didn't come up with anything so I thought I'd ask the lovely people of Reddit like yourself for their advice.
