Bird ID Request I captured a sweet photo of some sort of raptor maybe? Can you help me ID it?

The photo was taken at Yellowstone national park

I think it’s a red tailed hawk? But ChatGPT says Golden Eagle and Grok says Harris’s Hawk?

Unfortunately all I had was my phone, hope maybe it’s clear enough to surmise one way or another.

I was focusing on the one in the centre toward the front of the group at the time but honestly some of the ones around it look similarly suspect to me.

We move on to the spectacular Manu Birds Sanctuary, in the Rocotal sector of Manu Road. Here in August, the Chestnut-breasted Coronet rules the roost! As its eBird description points out, this hummingbird is quite belligerent, chasing away the many other hummingbird species found here whenever it gets the chance.

The second photo really caught my attention. I was trying to capture the rain, but ended up with something that looks more like a watercolor painting than a photograph!

Discussion Hawk Ridge, Deluth MN

I just wanted to share an unexpected experience i had recently in Deluth.

I’ve been birding for almost a year now and have just over 150 lifers. Fortunately, I get to travel somewhat frequently, which has led to a lot of fun experiences and some pretty cool birds.

Visiting Hawk Ridge during migration might be one of my favorite experiences so far. I was in the area this past week and found a flyer for hawk ridge in a rest stop. Didn't know that was a thing but had to go.

Soooo many raptors, Bald Eagles, Sharp-shinned, Red-tailed, and Cooper’s Hawks galore. I didn’t get to stay very long, I was hoping to see a Goshawk but no dice this time.

However, I did get to hold and relase a sharp-shinned hawk that was caught and banded.

Anyways I simply wanted to share this experience. 10 for 10 for me and I will be going back. Is there any other places out there like this that I should add to my list?

Discussion Merlin flagged my Eastern Meadowlark as "unlikely" but the range map covers all of Alabama year round?

Hey y'all! I'm in Marshall County, North Alabama and just got an Eastern Meadowlark on a Merlin recording ID today. Super excited because it's a new one for me! 🤩

Merlin flagged it as unlikely for my area, which confused me since the year round range map shows the entire state of Alabama as covered habitat. I'm in a more wooded/suburban area near the Tennessee River valley. The maps on Merlin can be confusing to me for some reason. Has anyone in North Alabama had Eastern Meadowlark sightings recently to confirm? Would love to hear your thoughts! I added my recording, although I do apologize for the terrible audio quality! 😭💛

Woah, people didn't like this one... I'm sorry! I'll be more educated next time. :'(

Advice How do I see my Merlin life list? It’s just doing this all of the sudden and I’ve tried everything.
