Looks good for Solitary Sandpiper, funny to see him floating down the river. But certainly no Dippers in Virginia.

Tough one but the angle at 0:54 makes me want to say Spotted Sandpiper

Neat. Is that Algonkian park?

Probably a waterthrush. I couldn’t say if it’s a Northern or a Louisiana.

Aren't they 99% gone by now? Likely flagged byearly October, but I don't use eBird in the region

I just checked ebird for Loudoun County. Louisiana's are long gone, but it's only just the tail end of the season for Northern's. https://ebird.org/species/norwat/US-VA-107

Nice!

Edit: yeah shows a .02% frequency so likely entirely gone

Anything is possible, this is my photo of a crested caracara in cape cod this summer

Crested Caracaras are raptors prone to wandering. Dippers are habitat specialists that have a very specific range.

Wasn’t even on the Merlin list at all

Are you new to birding? This isnt to be inflammatory or insulting I promise. You can study the trends of irruptive and common vagrant species and their behaviors. Go look at range maps and sightings maps on eBird

No not at all, I also saw a juvenile yellow billed cuckoo there that I have pics of too, I just knew it was a vagrant species that had been spotted in province town in march but other than that I don’t think there were any spotting of it for this year there yet

It’s an American Dipper alright! 💜

Look at the map. This was in Virginia? It wasn't an American Dipper
