should i study biomedical engineering

hi all! i am a student from the UK applying to biomedical engineering for my bachelors, but i am quite worried now that i see many people discouraging me from taking this course since it is not very flexible.

The problem lies in the fact that my 3 subjects that i’ve taken are not exactly aligned towards general engineering. I took biology, maths and computer science, therefore i’m already less likely to be considered for a mechanical or electrical engineering course.

Even for the universities i could apply to, it is too late for me to find extracurriculars that would help me make a competitive candidate and honestly i don’t have much interest in these courses and it would take a lot of effort for me to try and write about it enthusiastically

i am just worried about my future and wonder if any of you have experience with the biomedical field and whether you would say it is hard to succeed in it, and whether you think i should still try and aim for the more classical types of engineering

I am a high school student in my final year and tbh I'm honestly not sure what I wanna study

I initially started with medicine moved to computer science and eventually fell ok bioengineering

And I thought can I study bioengineering with a computer degree then I later move on to get a PhD in bioengineering well at least ai made that idea a little visible but I still I'm not sure so plz if I can get anyone's opinion it will help especially with things like salaries and stability of work.

How would you validate an early EEG-based brain-computer interface?

Hey everyone!

We're a small team building AXLMINDS, a brain-computer interface startup.

Our long-term goal is to change how humans interact with computers by making it possible to control them using thoughts rather than traditional input devices.

We've developed an early EEG-based prototype that demonstrates basic yes/no interaction.

We're still at a very early stage, and there's obviously a long way to go before something like this could become a practical way to control a computer.

One thing we're particularly interested in is how to properly evaluate an early system like ours.

From a bioengineering perspective, what kind of testing or validation would you consider essential before trying to expand its capabilities?

Would love to hear from anyone with experience in biosignal processing, biomedical devices, or BCI development.

Critical feedback is more than welcome!
