Opinion Lumen Field/Downtown Seattle Appreciation Post (from a lifelong Niners fan)
Visited Lumen field for the first time this past weekend, and I'm only here to talk about the field, your city, and the overall gameday experience. Y'all don't need me to tell you, but what you have is special.
Took the bus to the waterfront in the morning, and spent the morning walking around the waterfront, checking out the free view of the aquarium, and looking for food to bring to the game over by Pike's place. The vibe on the streets was awesome. Lots of friendly jabs (I was sporting a Niners jersey from back in the day), and lots of good rivalry smack talk, but nothing beyond that. Even the bus driver said, "I think you're on the wrong bus, Sir." Respect.
I hadn't been back to Seattle since you got rid of that freeway and built that waterfront park, and it is gorgeous. Such a lovely view and vibe.
Walked to the stadium about an hour before game time. I grew up in the era when every stadium was out of town and had to come with a shit-ton of parking. The Candlestick and Oakland Coliseum of my youth were surrounded by a sea of asphalt. I wish the Niners had the vision and guts your team did to build something in the heart of town with little to no parking, but easily accessible by public transportation. Walking through the streets of downtown Seattle, with all of the different options for food, drinks and socializing pre-game was so cool. The sound of the stadium getting louder as you turn corners and get closer. The long-ass line for a Seattle Dog (didn't wait in it, next time?).
And then the stadium itself. Anyone who complains about Lumen field is just jealous. The volume level in there is phenomenal. Even with noise-cancelling earbuds in the entire time, the volume level was insanely loud. I love the pride y'all have in that, and the not-so-subtle digs: Record Number of False Starts in a Single Game = 11 is amazing.
The screens could be larger and your replay team made some interesting choices, but the in-stadium experience was amazing. Sign Guy over by the visiting tunnel is hilarious. Fanbase knowledge was solid in my section. And overall, my experience as a Niner fan never felt unsafe. Sure, I took some mild verbal abuse, and were those extra elbows in the back in the thick of the crowds on the way out of the game, (hardest was from a salty woman, lol), or did I just imagine it? Either way, what an amazing experience.
I've been watching football since 1981. Experiencing gameday in your downtown was one of the best sporting experiences I've had (and not just because of the outcome). Tailgating may be the historic NFL gameday experience, but your Urban Gameday felt like the future of sport.

Stat [Henderson] Since Sam Darnold returned in Week 3, his average time before throw of 3.25 seconds is the longest among 31 qualifying QBs, per ESPN Research.

Analysis [Ted Nguyen] The 49ers got their run game going against the Seahawks by running away from Nick Emmanwori in 13/19 of their handoffs
Emmanwori continues to prove his dominance on whatever part of the field he lines up on. This man can really do it all, any speculation of how he would look after his injury may now be at peace.
[Maiocco] The 49ers offense was expected to be one of the best in the NFL. But through 5 games the defense ranks 3rd in EPA per play; 4th in scoring; 5th in yards allowed per play; 6th in net yards per pass attempt; 7th in rushing yards allowed per play; and 8th in opponent passer rating.

Nearly 2 years have passed since his last TD on December 9, 2024. Hope he continues to cook.
This scene in particular (7:14 mark) From the Trenches: 49ers Silence the Seahawks at Lumen Field in Week 5 is special. Very cathartic. You can feel his appreciation for being able to still be in uniform on game day after 13 seasons.

If you guys think we have it bad, it could always be worse. Just think… we could be Rams fans and be stuck with Sean Mcvay

I don’t want Jauan Jennings back
I’d rather get a bonified solid WR2 who is excellent at beating man coverage and a great number 2 to Mike Evans, I like Deebo but he’s old now and beating man coverage was never his strong suit anyways, and Stribling is a rookie, so putting that much pressure on him, especially since he’s coming off an injury when he does eventually return, isn’t that smart imo, and again I feel like he’s best at being a zone beater more than anything else. I want us to make an Emmanuel Sanders like trade at the deadline, and we get a really good WR2, who is also excellent at beating man coverage, especially when we face off against the top defenses in football.

Analysis [Timo Riske] The Seahawks are the best defense in terms of stopping the opponent from getting into the red zone (accounting for starting field position), but they've given up the highest rate of touchdowns in the red zone
The red zone turnovers do not help their case either.

Steve Keim weighs in on what the Cards should do. Say what you want about Keim but he was far more competent than the current regime

Trivia The Seahawks started out 3-1 and then fell to 3-2 in a frustrating 3 point loss to a conference opponent.
Last season.
We still turned out pretty alright.

START BECK on Fitz's ROH ceremony vs Broncos, another debut QB WIN!!!
If they have any respect for the paying fans and Fitz himself, remember Skelton's 1st start? Broncos offense is the #1 reason that could keep AZ in the game.
