So my mom has an amazon prime account, and we have gotten a few alexas for the family registering each under her account as different family members.
I moved out and I would like to enable my camera, but at the same time it really bothers me to know that my mother could spy and see what i do at anytime.

My question is: Is there anyway to be the ONLY one in a family group to be able to see a live camera from a SPECIFIC alexa??

I live in India where you can order food/groceries online and they deliver it to you in 10mins- this adds on to my cravings making it accessible to me

Now I'm thinking if Alexa would be able to help me? If I say things like Alexa I feel like having a cookie. or Alexa I'm too tired to cook

Can I program her to answer me back with a particular answer or nudge me towards having a home cooked meal or not outside food

I've tried a lot of things and they don't work.

I dunno if someone figured it out already but I am getting annoyed at the “okay” or “you got it” from the Alexa whenever I ask for the lights to be turned off and off.

I already did the brief mode part. But anyone else has anything?

Hi, My dog's been crying when I leave the house. I thought I would use away mode, with the fake people noises to keep her calm, but that skill no longer exists. I tried Burglar Deterrent, but it doesn't seem to make noise. Any other suggestions?

Hi Guys, we are wanting to install an Echo Dot or similar compatible with Dot and the Alexa App. We would like to aim it at our neighbors house for their very loud, and often 30 minutes (or more) barking dogs using "dog barking calming music" skill. As it is they bark so loudly they trigger the Echo Dots inside our house (with the windows closed) set for our dog (which almost never trips unless we are coming home from being gone a while, or someone is at the front door.) We would like to aim it toward their house, as we would prefer not to hear the music as much (especially early in the morning,) but do not even know if that would help keep the noise out of our house very well. All I know is the owners do nothing to quiet them and even are outside with them sometimes, even when they are barking at 7am.

We were thinking up under the eaves (angled downward) so it would be protected from the weather or we also have a covered patio, which would be about 20 feet farther away from their yard. Also is it possible to set up our two Dots (which we have and are already synced) and the outside one separately, with different music? We only have the free version of Alexa if that matters. Our dots are the small hockey puck shaped device and would prefer that style if possible.

We would appreciate any help with this dilemma...

I want to share my experience so others don't spend weeks troubleshooting a problem they can't fix themselves.

The problem:
My Bose Home Speaker 300 stopped responding to the Alexa wake word and voice commands entirely. Music playback via the Bose Music app works perfectly, external control works fine — only the microphone/voice recognition is affected.

What I tried:

• Factory reset (Volume Down + AUX)
• Firmware update via IP method
• Complete re-setup in the Bose Music app
• Created a new Bose account
• Disabled and re-enabled the Bose skill multiple times
• Contacted Bose support (ticket 04597193)

What Amazon told me:
After contacting Amazon Alexa support, a representative called me and confirmed in writing that this issue affects ALL Bose Home Speaker 300 customers. Amazon has already requested that Bose roll out an update. Their technicians are working on it.

My message to Bose:
Please communicate known issues like this proactively. Many customers spend weeks troubleshooting something that cannot be fixed on their end because the problem is server-side.

Hope the update comes soon. You are not alone with this problem.

Someone should try making a custom skill that is like a fart widget but have a area with a hidden menu for an actual app like chrome and downloads arent blocked...that would be cool

However, i have heard many reviews saying it will not work as we need a US account to be able to download alexa etc.

My grandma loves using her iPhone and iPad. She’s on Pinterest and YouTube a lot, but I think that’s mostly because of how easy those apps are to use nowadays, like, you open them once and just flow. You just scroll down and there’s always new content. But when she wants to do something more proactive, like looking up an actor’s age, checking if it’s going to rain, or setting an alarm, she kind of gets lost.

I’ve seen online that Alexa Echo devices recognize voices well and are always 'listening' for commands. I wanted to know if the regular Echo Dot already does all of that, or if there’s any benefit to getting one with a screen. Can you tell Alexa to play a video while she’s cooking, or play a specific song, even when the screen is locked? Because that could be even better

I've read that you can play UK stations (for those in the UK like me) on a Dot but I'd be looking to play the stations that I have on my main Internet Radio and which are mainly based abroad. Can a Dot do that? And do it on it's own i.e. not having to rely on a smartphone in the background? Thanks.

At some point I was given an Echo Auto, and I tried to use it for my car—a 2000 Buick Park Avenue.

My car has no Bluetooth capabilities so I’d need to use the auxiliary audio cable that comes with the Echo Auto, but I can’t figure out where to plug it in. Supposedly, there’s supposed to be an audio jack near the radio/CD player console, but not in my car

According to online information, the Echo Auto is SOMEHOW supposed to be compatible with my car even though it’s an older make and model.

Was I misinformed? Am I not looking in the right spot? Was this a wasted purchase for my car?

I’m buying an Echo Dot in the near future and have already started making some routines.

I’m a big soccer fan, and love to watch my home country Brazil. Alexa lets me make a routine for 10 minutes before a match starts. However, I want to know if Alexa can ask me if I want to open the Globoplay app (or any other app that broadcasts the game) when it sends me the push notification. If there isn’t a straight-forward way, are there any work-arounds?

EDIT: Forgot to add I want to make this compatible with a Fire TV, too.

My Echo Show was booted off of the WiFi somehow. When I tried just clicking on the network name and reconnecting to the WiFi about 100x, it just kept saying Unable to Connect. So, I had the Echo “forget” the network, and now when I click on the network name it prompts me to enter the password, which I am doing. But once I do that it still does nothing. It only leaves me the option to go back and then start over again. What the hell am I doing wrong?? All suggestions are appreciated. And yes, I have checked the WiFi. It is working fine for EVERYTHING else. The issue is definitely with the Echo Show.

Does anyone know of a skill that will display a Dementia Clock on the face of a Show 15? Big fonts are important for an elderly person.

I got an Amazon echo show 5 3rd gen Kids (2023 release) bought Sep 2024, and has been lying there on my table since then. I don't find a use compared to my phone's digital assistant (I use google assistant/gemini and siri). I bought it to use as a clock, but it does not even allow me to set a custom full screen clock even, like I wanted. Could you suggest me use cases? I have an amazon plug also which I got for 1.99$ on an offer, and it does not feel worth to get them again at 25 now. Echo also I got for some 30ish when some offer was going.
I have 4 smart bulbs in my room which I control directly from the sengled app. But most of the times all of them won't connect to my wifi at the same time, and that's been a headache.

I ask it to play music and it keeps going to iHeartRadio.

I download and enable Spotify, complete silence when it goes to play.

I have the Amazon kids app and enabled Amazon kids plus. Have no idea how I get it to read any of the stories that are shared and enabled.

What the heck am I missing?

I am happy with the routines to raise and lower temperature setting, even had a routine for the fan to come on 15 minutes every hour, but wondering if anyone has figured out a voice command to get the fan to turn on with raising or lowering the temperature.

Hey guys I just got an echo for Christmas and so far love it but as the parent of a toddler I can't stand that Alexa does not use manners .

My wife and I always say please when we ask it to do something and thank you when it completes the task we ask of it in order to teach manners to our kid. It would be nice if there was a way for it to reciprocate with good manners. Is there a Canadian mode on this thing?

Hello, I got a new Echo Spot last week, and the temperature on the watch face literally never changed. I tried turning it off and on, changing the clock face, resetting the device location, update the firmware, but nothing seems to work.

Anybody got an idea on how to solve that? Thanks 🙂

Is there a way to prevent Echo devices from EVER playing music?

I have 2 echo devices and both of them have the annoying problem of arbitrarily playing some song (that I would NEVER want to hear) when I give a command that I use regularly, like, "Alexa, turn on the lights." I could even see the possibility of it playing a song that actually has the name or the refrain that mentions, "Turn on (of off) the lights," but these stupid things start playing whiny pop music from artists I've never heard of and am fine to never hear again!

I deleted my Spotify account but Prime Music is not removable to My knowledge.

Ideas?
