Ableton itself has an article on buying a used copy of Live. It's important to note that Ableton has the power to confirm that a secondhand license is legitimate.

If you bought (or buy) a second hand MIDI controller that was originally bundled with Live Lite but the serial number that came with it is missing or already used up, you can apply to Ableton for a new Live Lite serial. It's not 100% successful but why not give it a try?

You can also easily obtain a Live Lite license by either buying Koala App or Ableton Note.

[FS] Ableton Live 12 Suite (EDU license) Hey, I’m selling my Ableton Live 12 Suite educational license for $250 (taking offers)

It’s legit and will be transferred through Ableton’s official license transfer system (not just a serial).

This is an EDU license, so you must be a student or teacher and able to verify with Ableton. If you can’t verify, Ableton won’t activate it.

Payment: PayPal

I’ll send proof of the license in my Ableton account (with personal info blurred), and I’ll start the transfer as soon as payment clears.
