UK Not using uber eats again. Swear riders are robbing food.

I just ordered Pizza Express, to which the rider waited up the road from the store for a good 20 mins. Tried contacting with no luck.
Then he finally went to the store. Finally!!
He then picked up the order, and then took 20 mins to get here (it takes like 7 mins).

I went outside ready to meet him (I live in an apartment). No joke at all, he was riding his bike down my road, and I watched him do a full u turn in the middle of the road (he didn’t stop or look around at all), and rode off. Then I got a message saying he couldn’t fulfil my order. I got a full refund, but still!

I contacted uber, who couldn’t give a rats arse about the situation. They said ‘you were refunded, can I help with anything else’. Like I want to complain, I waited for ages for my food - for him to do that. I said he’s clearly doing something fishy to get free food. No arse given. Asked if I needed help with anything else- ended chat.

Ordered Pizza Hut now, as pizza express isn’t taking orders anymore (fuming as it’s costed me more, as a pizza and cheesecake was £12 from pizza express due to offers). If I have any problems- I swear down!! Will keep updated if I get my pizza eventually lol. Ordered a cookie dough to cheer me up also- spending more for less anyway- so why tf not.

End of rant lol. Thanks to all those who read my silly rant. 🫶🏻

They are not stealing, they are ghost delivering.

Wrong. There are posts of DD and Ubereats drivers “canceling” orders after they pick them up and eating the food because “they were hungry”. Among their other scams of stacking orders and spitting in food or just throwing it st the door. It is a horrible business model
😡

So wrong, yes, there are drivers that steal. But to arrive at the dropoff location means they are trying to complete a ghost delivery.

If this happens to you all the time something else is going on here.

Yes, drivers steal food. There are countless threads about it.

We always tip very well and do this in three different states fairly regularly and i’ve never had any problems like this! I do doordash myself as well and have definitely never done this to anyone else either. Maybe you live in a sketchy area?

Am deleting Ubereats after this. Lately I’ve had non-stop problems. Uber taxis is fine- but uber eats is awful now. So is Just Eat.

Think I’ll stick with Deliveroo, as surprisingly I’ve had no issues with them.

You could also consider going to get your own food, or cooking

What made me uninstall Uber Eats was the fact that I ordered food, got the door delivered, played the delivery driver in cash, and the order was placed with an incomplete payment and they want me to pay for food I already paid for again, all because the delivery driver wanted to steal money the easy way and screwed me over with an outstanding balance, back and forth with their 'Support Team', only to tell me I should have chosen a different payment method and that they won't remove the outstanding balance from the account

That doesn’t make any sense, the driver has nothing to do with the payment

Some drivers absolutely steal food! It has happened a few times to my husband and I. We used to order from a restaurant that we know the owners and workers (mom n pop joint). There have been a few times random things have not been delivered and when I called the restaurant they confirmed that the stolen food/drinks were picked up by the driver. Also, an old friend of mine, that used to drive for Uber, admitted he would randomly steal food/drinks. After so many ppl not receiving their meals/drinks due to 'not finding the address' my friend had to provide a code upon delivery.

I also deleted the app couple days ago. Got the notification my food was delivered so I got down but not see my food. There's no drop-off photo in the app so I called the delivery guy ask where he put me food. He yelled at me, saying he already gave it to "my friend", who headed out the building at that time. I tried to tell him I live in an apartment so there are other people stay in that building and "that friend" is a stranger. The delivery guy was really hostile. He kept yelling I was lying and hung up my phone when I asked if he can describe the person he gave my order to. Tried calling him again and realized he blocked my phone.
I tried the chat support in the app (which is AI), it kept saying "I'm so sorry, I'll send the safety guidelines to the driver to read" and ended the chat. I kept reporting until the AI said it'd give me $5 cashback (which is not even half the price of my order) and that's it. Found the customer support's phone number on Google, called it and received "sorry, your phone number is not available in our system".
Next day, I tried to report it again but this time, instead of clicking "my order is not delivered", I wrote sth like "delivery guy gave the order to stranger" and somehow the call customer's service option appeared and I could call them this time. I talked to a human and he agreed to refund my order. I asked why I couldn't call the customer service right after the delivery and he said it's for the safety policy sth that the phone number disappear @.@

I’ve had a Uber Eats rider in London who handed me the wrong order, and Uber Eats refused to take responsibility, asking me to present evidence again and again and then went totally quiet after I sent them. I was an Uber One user for many years. Quit Uber Eats this week. Totally disgraceful organisation.

My order was worth £22.00 and I lost all of it.

Did I also say the rider took away my receipt and lied that he needed it to make a report himself ? He tried concealing evidence. So yes, Uber riders can be liars (and thieves).
