For those of us who use Freedom Units™, it's 4 feet by 4 feet.
No, I wouldn't take it. If I have to rearrange my car for your delivery, I need more money.

i once delivered a comically large pizza that no fucking joke, almost didn’t even fit in my car with the seats back. it was paying enough for me to struggle with it though so i dealt with it (probably cancelled multiple times before it got to me)

u/84camaroguy Sep 16 '25
My local pizza place sells a 30” pizza and the driver pulled up in a minivan because he was the only one who had a vehicle with a door big enough to take it. It didn’t fit flat through the door to my house.

u/mander1555 Sep 16 '25
Yeah, i had a ginormous pizza delivery once but my car is a hatchback and the seats fold down, so it wasn't an issue.

u/daniyyelyon Sep 19 '25
30" pizza is insane. Also did the math.... one 30" pizza is more pizza than two 20" pizzas. 🤯

u/Humble-Round923 Sep 18 '25
God, I had a 28” pizza got assigned to me. I cancelled because I’m on a bike. Then they kept bundling it with other restaurants on the same block. I ended up cancelling it three times, I eventually turned the app off for like 15 minutes.

Brother I'm not even a driver but there's a difference between delivering food and furniture lol.
-26
u/SCAMISHAbyNIGHT Sep 16 '25
Which is why this isn't about food.
19
u/NTufnel11 Sep 16 '25
You really expect to get someone to take two pieces of furniture for 12 dollars? Would you take that deal?
Obviously abusing the courier program.
3
u/Cultural_Zombie_1583 Sep 16 '25
You know a drone that can carry a 4’x4’ dresser for 15 bucks? I don’t know if it’s a thing in uk but a U-Haul here is 20 bucks for the day and you can do whatever you want with it lol, especially NOT inconveniencing an uber driver
5
Sep 16 '25
Sure. Thats the rental. Don’t forget gas and the fact that you have to then go pick it up yourself, defeating the entire purpose of ordering delivery.
But yea, sure.

I wonder what makes you and the other one mentioning them think THOSE WOULD BE THE VEHICLES ASSIGNED TO PICK UP A DESK.
9
u/Patient-Midnight-664 Car Sep 16 '25
Do you need to yell? These are the Uber delivery robots. They don't have 'desk delivery' sized ones. What robots do you think they'll be assigning to desk delivery orders?
-2
u/SCAMISHAbyNIGHT Sep 16 '25
That's why I said eventually drivers will be irrelevant. Because eventually there will be autonomous vehicles and eventually they will deliver items without having to pay more money to recline seats. And by vehicles I don't mean itty bitty remote control cars, tf. Hello??
If y'all are drivers today, it's no wonder 1/3 of you can't find where to leave things.
3
u/Muted-Ad3851 Sep 16 '25
A third of all drivers for gig work are unhirable or incapable of normal work. The rest are everyone else thats normal and capable. Big rip to the 1/3 when they go byebye

> If y'all are drivers today, it's no wonder 1/3 of you can't find where to leave things.
Why do you feel the need to be insulting? Did someone here insult you, or are you just that kind of person?
That future vehicle won't be taking an elevator to the 8th floor of an apartment building to deliver to the disabled guy. And bigger vehicles means bigger items in the vehicle, making it more of a target. Currently there isn't much of an incentive to hack the little robots for $10 of McDonald's food.
While I will agree with you that they will attempt this in the future, I don't think it will work out for them as well as they think it will. I'd like to see a cost breakdown on the current robots with all the costs of operating them (maintenance, charging, etc.) I'm fairly confident it costs more to run one of these robots than the $2 they offer the drivers. A larger vehicle would just be more expensive.

I bet that drones and full size cars will deliver most of the things in the near future, but it's completely different topic. Uber should just hire everyone, all imigrants, students etc, remove upfront tips feature and let drivers fightfor orders, who will be first to accept the order, he will earn some small amount, others will sit without work, so it will be a fight who will accept it first. Without upront tip, everything will be fixed.
2
Sep 16 '25
Even if my vehicle can accommodate that; I’m not picking up your desk for 12$. I’ll wait 3 minutes and get an order to deliver a few bags of chips and a chocolate bar instead for the same price.
1
u/goblin967 Sep 16 '25
put the back seats down & have them sit in the passenger seat? Goldfish have a high enough iq to determine that's a bad idea.
1
Sep 15 '25
Rearrange probably means move things that are in the back to the front to make room.
3
u/allaboutthatbeta Sep 15 '25
kinda dumb to accept orders that you already know may require a lot of space if you already have a bunch of stuff in the vehicle tbh
3
Sep 15 '25
Kinda dumb to not read before posting. What the poster said was that they would need more money to rearrange, not that they accepted the order.
0
u/SCAMISHAbyNIGHT Sep 16 '25
Kinda dumb to add extra nonexistent fanfic context saying they meant rearranging other items in the car when they explicitly define putting the seats down as rearranging.
4
Sep 16 '25
Nope, this is what the poster said: "No, I wouldn't take it. If I have to rearrange my car for your delivery, I need more money."
No mention of putting down the seats at all although that's likely part of rearranging, that may not be all they have to do. I mean, do you have things in the back of your vehicle that you would need to move in the rare event that you needed to haul furniture? I don't but most people do. A delivery driver for what is primarily a food service doesn't need to rearrange to deliver McDonalds.

kinda dumb to not realize that the only way a person would even know whether or not they'd need to "rearrange" anything is if they've already accepted the order and found out that the item was too big to fit in the vehicle

u/SCAMISHAbyNIGHT Sep 15 '25
If they're signed up for courier services, they shouldn't be using their car as storage space for knickknacks or whatever. The expectation is that you're using your car to transport things that fit in the car. Folding your seats down is not an inconvenience that should cost the customer money.
6
u/Last-Ad-159 Sep 15 '25
You’re moving furniture that can scratch and damage your car along with adding harder labor you 1000% should charge the customer more for a delivery like that. Time, wear and tear, miles are all labor that should be accommodated.
2
u/GreenZebra23 Sep 16 '25
He's trolling, I recommend just ignoring him
4
u/Last-Ad-159 Sep 16 '25
Yeah uber courier isn’t even allowed or made for furniture. Guys a douche but all g thanks 🍻

Oh shut up. This is Uber EATS, not Amazon. Orders that require the entire back of your vehicle are rare.

I have used Ubers for transporting small pieces of furniture before but I’ll always call to ask them if it’s okay and that I’ll leave a $10 tip at least. Many will say no but there’s always someone who’s happy to do it
2
u/LocaFly Sep 17 '25
People play too damn much. This is the reason why I don’t take Walmart orders people try to order canoes and tents and want me to mount things to the roof of my car. No thank you.
3
u/eddie_flynn Sep 18 '25
The people are ordering through Walmart's website. Walmart then chooses a courier service like roadie, ubereats or doordash. The customer has no idea who is delivering it.
2
u/LocaFly Sep 18 '25
Understandable. However, I’m still not doing it. So I have had UBER opt out of Walmart orders for me.

I see no entitlement in this post. If you don’t wanna deliver then cancel.

u/Hip-notiK Sep 16 '25
It's crazy what people order, I do instacart and people will order 100bags of mulch or packs of water it's insane
1
u/RecommendationOk3953 Sep 17 '25
Cases of water are not an unreasonable order unless they are having you get like 20 of them.
4
u/Window_Real Sep 18 '25
Are you a driver? One is not unreasonable, 20 cases of 40 waters each is definitely fucking rude. Drivers don't get paid for the loading and unloading part and do not have weight belts or equipment to load and unload crap.
1
u/eddie_flynn Sep 18 '25
I got a wagon in the trunk. But I am doing more shop and pay grocery orders and Instacart to keep the miles lower on the car since I am in California which offers a guaranteed hourly of $21.36 per active hour. So I do not mind multiple cases of water anymore, actually I expect it.
1
u/Hip-notiK Oct 04 '25
Cases of water isn't unreasonable but when people are ordering 20+ cases and 100 bags of mulch is where it gets unreasonable? I don't understand why you commented lmao
2
u/eddie_flynn Sep 18 '25
This was probably an online order and the store shipped the order using Ubereats which is supposed to be reserved for small packages.

u/No-Guarantee4688 Sep 16 '25
