Other DPS alert for a stabbing

The alert that DPS released a couple of hours ago is the first time I've seen such a violent crime report from USC DPS. I've only been here a year though. For those who have more time here, how many stabbing reports have you seen? Stay safe.

Discussion USC in DC internship

Has anyone done USC in DC internship before. I am a returning student majoring in Anthropology and I want to try and complete an internship for my career. How is this program like?

From what I have learned so far about this internship, it seems like make you need to pay to gain access to all the things to secure an internship.

Academic Qbio 475 Grading

How strict is the grading for Qbio 475, and is there a curve administered? The midterm was heinous, but it feels like everyone felt kind of bad about it.

Housing Too late for Housing (?) and other questions

hi all,

i am a junior (f) who has previously been commuting to usc for the past two years. however, i suspect my housing situation to change. i have two concerns, if anyone may give advice please lmk! these are stupid questions but im kind of lost

  1. im looking into apartments close to campus. as of now, is it too late to apply to apts for spring 2027? which ones are most recommended? i have also been trying to make an account with usc housing in case i could do anything on-campus but somehow i never get an email or verification code sent (?)
  2. about a litte over a year ago i had a traumatic back injury (on top of a previous ankle injury that is still recovering). i am still going to PT, pilates, and other rehab frequently throughout the week to recover. to be honest the only thing that kept me from moving close to campus sooner is the amazing PT facility near my house that I do feel dependent on, but i would rather come closer to campus still.

would anyone recommend PT through Keck? and are there any other facilities/physical rehab places that may be helpful? i will probably have my car with me so i don't mind driving.

i currently live about 30-40 mins away from campus but im quite exhausted by the daily commute and staying with my family

sorry for the long post! please comment if you have any advice. thank you all!

Hi all,

I wonder if a family of usc students is able to access/use Doheny Memorial Library.

It's just for studying some stuffs, not borrowing books.

Anyone know about this? or Do I need to do something to give my family an access permit?

Housing Affordable Apartments around campus for non-students/recent grads

Hey guys,

I’m graduating soon which means I’m getting kicked out of student housing. I really would love to stay in LA, but like the housing situation is so expensive. I know I can get roommates, but I’m first looking at where I can maybe get an affordable studio.

Are there any places around campus that are open to recent grads/non students that are lenient when it comes to like the income requirements (a lot of places ask for 2-3x the rent).

Edit: my budget is like 1800-2000 but like I don’t make 6k a month to get approved for the places that need 3x the rent lol

Thank you!

Academic BUAD 310 or BUAD 312?

Hi! I'm a second year CSBA student and I was looking at my course plan for next semester and I saw that I need to take a stats class so I'm in between BUAD 310 or BUAD 312.

I know that BUAD 312 is taught in R but are there any major differences between the two courses and which one should I take?

My schedule for next semester includes ECON 352, CSCI 104, and BUAD 304 if that is something to consider. Thanks!

Question USC Refuses to Accept Transfer Credits

Hi everyone! I’m currently having some issues with the articulation department and having my credits transferred. I have my associate’s degree from another university (in the same field) and veteran experience. I believe I had a total of 62 credits. Unfortunately, USC is saying they will only accept 18 of those credits.

Essentially, this is setting me back and potentially costing me thousands and wasting my GI bill on classes that I have already taken at my previous school. Mind you, only the random GE classes I took were accepted and NONE of the classes I took in the field I’m currently studying in.

I petitioned this to the articulation program even being lucky enough to find the syllabi from my previous university. Their response was short and didn’t make any sense.

I’m now questioning if staying at my dream school is even the right choice for me. I could transfer to a state school and finish in half the time.

Another thing upsetting is USC pushes how much they’re a veteran friendly school but didn’t accept any of my credits because they’re considered “lower division”.

Has anyone else dealt with this issue? I can provide more info in DM. Any help is appreciated.

Thank you!

Housing 505 IS THE WORST PLACE TO LIVE

Thumbnail

ACTUAL HELL ON EARTH. First off, due to their horrible maintenance and responsiveness to tenants, the service is 0 to none. 0.00 megabits for their wifi. Seriously, for student housing, they can’t even provide a basic service, and after hours of trying TO EVEN CONTACT them, they offered one solution, to get my own network. But not with Spectrum, or any other reputable source. ONLY with their provider, I mean this has got to be collusion to its finest. And this WhiteSky service, it is the worst, there are barely any options and the 505 MANDATES it, but even if you get it installed it still Sh*t. Moreover, as a student, professors have tanked my grade due to my inability to turn my work in on time even though it is not even my fault. The management is THE ABSOLUTE WORST, irresponsible and barely responsive. They don’t even offer amenities like valet trash. I used to live at the Hub and you are much better off living there. I paid 2.7k for the penthouse top floor room with private room and bath, with private balcony and hot tub. At the 505, I pay 3.1k and get a resident facing balcony with mold and an apartment that has sewage issues, sinks clogged, garbage disposal clogged with DISGUSTING trash that was not even mine. Also the plumbing cannot be worse than this. At least once a day a rancid and smell wafts from my toilet and stinks up the whole apartment (I had to pay extra to get it fixed). When I moved in I FOUND MOLD ALL OVER THE PLACE. Cockroaches littered in my floor and an unbearable stench by the elevator. Now don’t even get me started on the elevator which takes approximately 5 minutes to even get to you. THE MANAGEMENT DOES NOT CARE, in fact THEY UPCHARGE YOU if you bring up any issues. It is honestly pathetic how this building is run, and they trick you into living here by scarcity and by LYING. Point blank, they have lied numerous times about the building in fact they pressured my immigrant parents by forcing them into a lease by LYING and scamming them. I was not present for this conversation, but the tidbits they relayed were far from the truth. DO NOT LIVE IN THIS DISGUSTING AND EGREGIOUSLY HEINOUS DUMP, honestly so disappointed and genuinely disheartened that this was my experience. It wasn’t only me, I took a survey and over 10+ residents shared the same sentiment.

FinancialAid Financial aid consequences for dropping from 12 units to 8 units? Please help!

Does anyone have experience dealing with financial aid changes after dropping below full-time units?

I have a class that's giving me episodes and disrupting my sleep. People are telling me that they can physically see me falling apart. Prof is not willing to provide meaningful assistance. I'm seriously considering withdrawing, given that my financial aid will not be impacted.

I'm completely fine with getting a W on my transcript, but does anyone know what might happen to my financial aid? If my aid gets derailed or if I would have to pay anything, I'll keep the class. I will, without a doubt, be enrolled full-time next semester. I am gonna try to talk with the financial aid office tomorrow.

If it helps, I am a transfer student. I did not receive any special scholarships. Thanks.

Edit: I spoke with someone at Financial Aid today, and they said I would not be charged for the Fall because it is past the drop deadline, and aid is covering the class I have dropped, and this class if I drop it. Regarding SAP, they said I need to be fully confident in what I'm taking full time in Spring and complete ALL those credits (12 or more).

I am still going to get a second opinion from Financial Aid, and I have opened a case with an advisor.

FinancialAid EA or ED USC based on NPC?

I used USC’s Net Price Calculator today, and my estimated gift aid was $22,000–$26,000. If I applies Early Decision (ED) to USC, will Ireceive that amount of financial aid, or would it be better to apply Early Action (EA)?
Our family income is approximately $300,000 per year, and we will have two children attending college at the same time. Both colleges cost approximately $100,000 per year. Thanks

Academic Insights on Econ 460?

Taking it right now and a little worried about my grade. Didn't do that well on the first quiz, so I was curious how the lenient the grade percent cutoffs were in the final grade calculation, and how hard the grading on the final paper would be?

Admissions USC ED?

I’m thinking about EDing to USC, but I want to know your thoughts on how it is going to affect admissions for the liberal arts school. I’m not asking you to chance me or whatever because it’s gonna be what it’s gonna be, but for people who know more about it, what’s it going to look like most likely?
