Hi Armada Community, thanks for your patience. Apologies for the slight delay - our webmaster is in limbo due to international airline woes, but we'll still get the ACE update out today! In the meantime please enjoy this article about...PDIC, and why we changed it the way we did. https://www.armadarulesetcollective.com/news/ionized-point-defense-cannonning-and-mathemating-EaOZkN

List Building Wanted advice on a SSD carrier fleet

I've been trying to make an SSD squad list for a bit, and I wanted to request some feedback on the latest iteration I've attempted

Assault: Advanced Gunnery

Defense: Contested Outpost

Navigation: Solar Corona

Star Dreadnought Command Prototype (220)

• Moff Jerjerrod (23)

• Captain Needa (2)

• Commander Vanto (7)

• Taskmaster Grint (5)

• Flight Controllers (6)

• All Fighters, Follow Me! (5)

• Take Evasive Action! (6)

• Boosted Comms (4)

• Leading Shots (5)

• Quad Turbolaser Cannons (10)

• Executor (2)

= 295 Points

Squadrons:

• Maarek Stele - TIE Defender Squadron (21)

• Whisper - TIE Phantom Squadron (18)

• 2 x TIE Phantom Squadron (28)

• 2 x TIE Defender Squadron (32)

= 99 Points

Total Points: 394

Largest limiter is the SSD only being one ship. I can only crew a maximum of 6 squads with Grint (7 if I don't activate All Fighters Follow Me) which is why I favor the Phantoms, which can use cloak to dart out of danger, and also push further with speed 5 and then cloak back to the SSD's long range if they extend too far. And Defenders do decently against ships and squads.

Any advice on either the squad list, or the SSD itself, is welcome and appreciated.

List Building Republic Points Buffs for the Community Edition

Post image
77 Upvotes

Republic fleets currently feel somewhat pigeonholed into a handful of dominant archetypes, specifically high-activation Anakin/Obi-Wan builds and the ubiquitous Bail or Yularen squadron lists. While we see plenty of Consulars, Peltas, and Venator IIs, other options have struggled to find their footing. Between these adjustments and the Arquitens tweaks from yesterday, the goal is to provide enough breathing room for players to explore more diverse and experimental fleet compositions.

Here are some highlights:

Acclamator II: 71 → 67 A big drop. Compared to the Munificent it has worse arcs, worse shields, and worse maneuverability, but it does get access to some interesting Republic tech. This was the least-used Republic ship at Adepticon and across tournaments this year and this buff is pretty significant.

Venator I: 90 → 86 Obi-Wan high activation Dedrick fleets aside, I think almost everyone agrees this one can come down. The gap between the Ven I and Ven II just isn't wide enough to justify the Ven I's downsides, and we'd like to see it show up outside of those builds.

Tarkin: 30 → 26 Tarkin is good, but costing more than Bail pushes him out of contention in a lot of fleets; at the time of writing he's the least popular GAR admiral in listbuilding and tournament data (he and Luminara keep swapping places). This won't make him too strong, but it makes him a real alternative to Bail.

Plo Koon: 26 → 24 Plo is awesome, he’s a great admiral with a solid effect but it's very much a "win more" effect, and Yularen outpaces him as the squad-commanding admiral in most cases. Peltas being as good as they are hasn't helped. Two points puts him on par with Yularen. I expect a Plo renaissance regardless; he and Anakin were trading places for the most-built GAR commander before the run-up to Worlds, and there's untapped potential there.

Barriss Offee: 6 → 3 Barriss can do good work, but she doesn't combo well with the faction's other defensive tools (Tranquility, Lumi, Adi, etc.). Three points opens her up on cheaper smalls, where shifting the defending hull zone can be the difference between a dead small ship and getting away on 1-2 hull.

There's more coming: a few other ships, some squadron tweaks, and more smaller changes. Check them all out in the Armada Community Edition release on Aug. 3rd!

List Building I bought with my heart, and now the fleet is weird. Help?

Hey all, I was looking to get into the game and like a fool I didn’t investigate anything before picking up ships. I’m not the proud owner of:

2 Nebulon b Frigates (Imperial and Rebel)

A gladiator Star destroyer

A pursuit class light cruiser

2 FarStar MC90 refits

A victory class star destroyer

An imperial dreadnaught

A Rebel Assault Frigate Mk 1 type 7

With these motley ships is there a faction that I can play. I realize that they is a mix of empire and rebel here, maybe I have just two small fleets?

List Building I get why Nexus is not ACE yet, now.

After removing the new Nexus flak cannons from my list the other week, I had a mate of mine use the Precision Turbolaser Turrets on his ISDs. The 3 points upgrade completely murders MSU lists. Even side arcs are far more dangerous to low health ships such as CR90s.

If it were small/medium only, at least the number of total dice in an attack wouldn't be naff.

Anyway, small rant. I need to learn to fly better and expect the unexpected, I know. I'm sure someone will find a way to turn this into my fault, this being Reddit and all.

List Building New player

I've been watching allot of YouTube videos on armada and am considering playing I have atleast a partial idea of an empire list in mind.

The first ship would be the flagship as a quaser 2 with 2 arquentence and I think one or two gozanti support flotillas along with a mix of tie interceptors, bombers, and regular tie fighters. Since I've never played before I'm unsure what upgrades and commander or even objectives that would work well for it outside of flight controllers and bomber command center and was wondering if anyone had suggestions

List Building Help! MC80 fleet under performing.

While I've been playing Armada for years I play so infrequently that I'm basically a new player. I also mostly play Empire and so I'm struggling with getting Rebels to work.

I've built what I thought was a solid Ackbar MC80 fleet for some friendly games at my local store but it keeps getting picked apart. The MC80 gets focused down and I can't seem to deal enough damage early blast anything away. Maybe it's because my games with this fleet have been up against Motti ISD heavy fleets.

It could also be that I'm terrible with positioning and I'm just flying it wrong. Anyway, here is the fleet let me know what you think!

MC80 Assault Cruiser (110) • Admiral Ackbar (38) • Electronic Countermeasures (7) • Leading Shots (5) • H9 Turbolasers (8) • Home One (5) = 173 Points

Assault Frigate Mark II B (72) • Caitken and Shollan (6) • Electronic Countermeasures (7) • XI7 Turbolasers (6) = 91 Points

CR90 Corvette A (44) • Turbolaser Reroute Circuits (7) • Jaina's Light (5) = 56 Points

GR-75 Medium Transports (18) • Comms Net (2) = 20 Points

Squadrons: • Shara Bey - A-wing Squadron (17) • Tycho Celchu - A-wing Squadron (16) • 2 x A-wing Squadron (22) = 55 Points

Most Wanted, Fire Lanes, Solar Corona

Total Points: 395

List Building Need some advice on a Grievous list

I've always kinda struggled with making a CIS Squadron list, mainly because I never feel like I have enough going on, so I wanted to try something with Grievous and wanted feedback

Assault: Precision Strike

Defense: Asteroid Tactics

Navigation: Superior Positions

Providence-class Dreadnought (97)

• General Grievous (20)

• TI-99 (4)

• Flight Controllers (6)

• Boosted Comms (4)

• External Racks (4)

• Point Defense Ion Cannons (6)

• Linked Turbolaser Towers (7)

• Enhanced Armament (10)

• Invisible Hand (8) = 166 Points

Munificent-class Comms Frigate (70)

• Tikkes (2)

• Fighter Coordination Team (3)

• Boosted Comms (4)

• Linked Turbolaser Towers (7)

• Point Defense Ion Cannons (6)

• Sa Nalaor (5)

= 97 Points

Squadrons:

• DBS-404 - Hyena-class Droid Bomber Squadron (17)

• DIS-T81 - Droid Tri-Fighter Squadron (17)

• Jango Fett - Slave I (22)

• Wat Tambor - Belbullab-22 Starfighter Squadron (18)

• 2 x Droid Tri-Fighter Squadron (22)

• 2 x Hyena-class Droid Bomber Squadron (22)

• 2 x Vulture-class Droid Fighter Squadron (16)

= 134 Points

Total Points: 397

The hope is there's enough fodder in there to protect my aces, and recharge the defense tokens of anything that needs them (the vulture droids are there mostly to be meat shields). And enough actually useful stuff to destroy stuff.

List Building AG-2G Quad laser cannons.

So this little issue comes up as I am about to start playing. I equipped this new upgrade. I see it as a 4 points upgrade on the StarForge app and website, but the card says 6 points. My friend also says there was a drastic revision of the text to power it down. And only a single slot.

So which one is it?

List Building Star Forge Updates & ACE Launch Retrospective

Thumbnail
gallery
46 Upvotes

Morning folks. I've been hard at work on some updates to Star Forge features. For those of you who are new, https://star-forge.tools is a listbuilder I built with fully remastered high resolution cards, free non-commercial printing of any armada cards & ship base tokens, and integrations into T5 and other tools.

Collection View

If you check under your user settings, and click "My Collection" you can now add models, cards, and expansions from all content available on Star Forge to your collection. This also includes card variants, meaning if you own an old mini-sized version of an upgrade, you can specify that.

In addition, you can print off full expansions and individual items by pressing the "Print Cards" button in the top right. This works similar to the "Print n Play" already present in Star Forge to print out your lists, but this should make it a little easier to print cards in bulk.

Cleanup

Across the application, I've done some performance improvements and UI cleanup. You should notice things load a bit faster and the website and webapp should run much better on older devices.

Stats View

The Stats view has received a visual overhaul with more up to date data and additional features. Specifically you can check out historical line-graph views of relative commander percentages, additional stats for ships and upgrades, and more.

Community Edition Launch Retrospective

Since the launch of Community Edition, Star Forge has reached a new peak concurrent user count, and we've had nearly 15000 fleets saved to accounts since the start of the month.

We're seeing much higher usage rates for the new or adjusted items (as expected), as well as much more variety in listbuilt fleets across the board. We'll see if these trends hold true as we move away from release and the "hype cycle" dies down.

As for new stuff coming soon, sure would be convenient to play Armada in your browser...

:)

List Building Need advice to make this fleet better

I have played this fleet a few time. It is good but not great.

I know MC30 titles are usually put on them. But I have removed them for 2 additional squadrons as I felt the fleet lacked fighter support. Know that I tend to be a better navigator than brawler.

Can you help me make it greater? Better Objectives?
