The moon is near enough to make no difference. We don’t need to blow a bigger hole in the atmosphere than necessary.

There’s no air or infrastructure, just a near vacuum and instant death once their air runs out. The moon is probably 234,000 miles further than necessary to be rid of them forever. Mars is just muskrat’s silly pipe dream.
