It's always been my theory that the true MAGA size is relatively small but all the bot engagement makes it seem like being part of a large movement.
AFAIK, real MAGA are not particularly active online, in aggregate, and bots fill in the majority of MAGA engagement online. Most MAGA voters are either lurkers or aren't online at all (and ONLY get news from sources like Fox), so bots were needed to get the momentum to convince these lurkers they were in the majority. With one of Russia's server farms being destroyed correlating to a noticeable (but not particularly large, in the grand scheme of things) drop in online MAGA activity, evidence for that idea is clear.
