I had sooo many right wing teachers in school.

I remember my 6th grade science teacher saying "Now were going to do a unit on evolution because the state says we have to, but we all know God created the world in 7 days"

Sounds like an American school, no?

Oh, 100%, right in the buckle of the Bible Belt

I've driven through there before, and I thought what people said about it was a myth. I no longer think it's a myth..

Uhhh, the Midwest is definitely NOT in the bible belt.

guess it depends what you consider midwest, and what the bible belt consists of. Kansas and Oklahoma are quite backwards religious places, not quite sure if Oklahoma is considered mid west or southern

I have a friend who had to go to a creationist museum with his mom

A whole museum of half answers to dismiss evolution and such

The only real thing that dismisses evolution is the definition itself. "Evolution is the gradual change in the inherited traits of a population over many generations, leading to new species and biodiversity, primarily driven by mechanisms like natural selection where advantageous traits become more common because they help organisms survive and reproduce" It states that whole new life can come from animals aka an Animal according to evolution can give birth to a whole new species... that remains to have happened no sheep ever gave birth to no dog. Or dog ever gave birth to no squirrel and no squirrel gave birth to no butterfly. That is the best proof evolution does not exist is again in its own definition. The idea was also stolen by Darwin he did not think it up he stole the idea

This is willful ignorance of the highest order.

Think of it like language. Spanish evolved from Latin, right? Did one day a Latin speaking mother give birth to a Spanish speaking son who they couldn’t understand? Of course not. Instead each generation was slightly less Latin than the previous generation.

Evolution, the only subject where Feminists, and evangelic s come together in dismissing it.

2

u/Temporary-Stay-8436 Feb 19 '26

Feminists don’t reject evolution. What are you talking about?

1

u/Odd-Jupiter Feb 19 '26

Try talking to one about evolutionary psychology, and they will generally try and tear you a new one.

2

u/Temporary-Stay-8436 Feb 19 '26

No, they won’t. What about evolutionary psychology do you think feminists oppose?

But also, you understand that the theory of evolution is different than evolutionary psychology, right?

1

u/Furry_Eskimo Feb 19 '26

Have you been taught that evolution would look like a sheep giving birth to a dog?

You need a passport to go there. I've you've ever seen sweet home Alabama. I grew up in WA state and was pretty surprised after I graduated and lived in Daytona for about 5 years just how bad the education system was. So many people I met my age just didn't know basic history American or otherwise. Just to pick the one subject cause it's relevant here. I felt like I went to a private school by comparison.

I drove through an Oklahoma town with a dinosaur wearing a saddle in front of the ten commandments.

But to be fair, I had a geology professor tell a creationist in her class that "this is a science class, and we discuss science."
