There have been a lot of posts lately sharing very graphic images of snails with extreme, severe injuries. It is perfectly fine to share this type of content if you need help with an injured snail, but please use the NSFW tag for these images.
This has been an unofficial rule of this sub for a while, but it seems to have been forgotten lately. So, I'm making an official mod team announcement: this is our official policy. Graphic, upsetting images must be tagged.
People come to this sub because they love snails. They don't come here expecting to see images of destroyed shells, shell-less snails, and dead snails. It can be very upsetting and distressing for users here to see this type of content unexpectedly. People may also be browsing this sub in public and want to avoid gory images.
Images of mating don't require the NSFW tag. But please use this tag for pictures of injuries including, but not limited to: mantle collapse, shell fell off, crushed shell, organ exposure, stepped-on snail.
Thanks to everyone who has been tagging their posts so far. Again, it's still totally okay to post this content if you need help, but please tag it appropriately so everyone can have a good experience here.

Hello r/snails!
As many of our users are aware, it can be difficult to find reliable, legal, and ethical sellers of captive bred snails.
To better facilitate buying, selling, & adoptions on this sub, we are introducing a seller verification program. Verified Sellers will be users or external sources that have been vetted by mods. Verified Sellers will be allowed to advertise their sales on the sub, and a Verified Sellers tag will applied to their posts to indicate they are a trusted source. Individual users on this sub as well as sellers on external websites are both able to be verified. A list of Verified Sellers organized by location will be added to the bottom of this post, which sellers can chose to opt in to if they wish.
Are you a seller or breeder interested in becoming verified? Send a DM to u/doctorhermitcrab to get started. Breeders who prefer to give snails away rather than sell are also welcome to apply.
Happy snailing!

I previously posted about my reentry to snailcare with my one eyed Herbie, and found this guy dried up on an apartment last night so I decided to make him my son.
Meet Qbie!🧡
Turns out after hydrating him that he also has a wonky eye! My chances of finding special babies are either higher or, its rougher out there than I thought. I also noticed he has less of a feeler on the right than the left?? So crazy.
Anywhosers, I am a happy Pa once again and our funky autistic family continues to grow🥲

Found this shy lil dude today sleeping stuck between a block of cement and a wall with this crazy shell. Never seen something like this before
Is it caused by a severe trauma he healed from or is it something more serious that could be life threatening?
I have him set up in quarantine away from my pet snails in a makeshift ' hospital ' enclosure where he hopefully can't get hurt and provided him some lettuce and calcium

I’m hoping to house them together but also don’t want to deal with snabies.
I feel like their teeth look slightly different but can’t tell if I’m just tripping. Does it look different to you? Last photo is from a journal article where they compare shells of different species of triodopsis.

Hello! I recently picked up a couple empty snail shells from outside for an art project. A majority have visible dirt in them and im unsure if some of them still have organs in them. (There's no bad smell, if that means anything.) I'm wondering on what the best/quickest way to fully clean them out is.

These mites look pretty much exactly like soil mites, but they're brownish and jump. They all cluster beneath my GALS foot and food bowl. Google is saying springtails but I really don't see it and I never added this species
Edit: I checked to see if they actually jumped or if I was breathing too hard around them. After poking them a few times, they didn't jump but they ran quickly

Hello all! I just recently asked a few questions about getting a new pet snail and there’s been a development! I went to the pet store today and bought some supplies (coconut substrate, a little hiding hutch, cuttlebone, food and water bowls, and a 2.5 gallon terrarium) but I was unsure about what protein would be best. I brought some freeze dried mealworms up to the counter with me, but the employee told me that even when you rehydrate them, they are still sort of hard? So he recommended that I reach out to my local reptile supply store….unfortunately they don’t like to answer their phones, so here I am. I am not open to feeding the snail raw meat, which was why I originally opted for the mealworms! I have heard that feeding them boiled eggs could be an option, but I have also heard to not feed them anything cooked? This is the only thing holding me back from setting up the enclosure, because I want to have everything ready before setting it all up and finding the right little snail! Also let me know about the coconut substrate, it came in a block that I assume you rehydrate with water and it expands. The pet store also had a small enough bag of soil but when I took a closer look at the ingredients, it said it had sand in it which I figured wasn’t good.

These are my classroom snails! I have one who recently looks like they are developing a lip? Would this indicate that it is mature? Total of 3 little duderettes from my garden in southern CA.
