Discussion Opinion | How to Make a Jihadist Martyr of Nidal Hasan
https://www.wsj.com/opinion/how-to-make-a-jihadist-martyr-of-nidal-hasan-651da219Jihadist killer Nidal Hasan deserves his future in hell, but before he gets there Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth wants him to die before a firing squad open to the public for all to watch and record. This is a bad idea for many reasons, not least that it offers the killer the public martyrdom he craves.
These columns don’t oppose the death penalty. For some murders, it shows that a society is serious enough about its self-preservation to deliver retributive justice. Mr. Hasan killed 13 and wounded 32 others at Fort Hood in 2009 in the name of Islam.
But his execution is best done quietly with few witnesses beyond officials and the families of the victims who wish to attend. This consigns him to history with ignominy but no fanfare. Mr. Hasan has said “I would still be a martyr” if executed, and that he killed those soldiers because they were “going against the Islamic Empire.” A livestreamed death, complete with some incendiary last words, is what he wants.

He will not be a martyr if it is public or not. Since he is being killed for his actions, not his religion or beliefs.
That won't stop terrorist from claiming he is one.

Deny him his last words and spray him with pig’s blood before the execution. They want to live like it’s 600 ad, they should get executed like its 600ad.
