Discussion Do you think Israeli influence over U.S. interests is inevitable?

Post image

Republicans may be able to prevent Israel from lobbying and influencing U.S. policy among Republicans, but they cannot prevent an alliance between Islamists and Democrats.

I think that is exactly what Democrats want: A fracture in Republican party. They want that Republicans step back in the hope that Dems will play fair and square with American values. But the two-party political system naturally pushes political actors with values that are at odds with traditional American principles into alliances aimed at defeating Republicans.

For Republicans to govern without Israeli influence, while Democrats also play fair and avoid alliances with Islamist groups, they would need Western European allies to follow the same approach. But Europeans do not, because they have become heavily dependent on China, and their strategic interests are no longer fully aligned with the United States.

So while I do not support Israeli influence over U.S. policy, I also do not think there is any real political solution in simply crawling back from every military conflict and expecting the other side not to bring radical Islamists into the policy-making process because you know they do.

For example, around the time of the Syrian war, was it Republicans or Israel who started that conflict? No.

My point is that these conflicts are going to happen regardless, because Democrats can also benefit politically from that model and from consequences they believe they can manage within certain expectations: inflation, mass migration, instability, and the political shifts that follow.

So if this kind of conflict is ultimately inevitable, the question that remains is simply this: which side do you want US interests aligned with?

How do you see if United States later develop relationship with a country like Iran after taking down the Ayatollahs?

What you suggest seem dangerous to be honest. Iran has 90 million people. This economy, this political situation inside Iran is not sustainable. If United States let the country collapse gradually instead of finishing it now, it will be another Syria with millions of refugee, regardless of border control. Because once the wave starts, no country will block it. Don't forget, there are more 10 million Afghans living in Iran right now. Do you think they will stay there once the country collapse?

But Iranians right now have strong alternative. Reza Pahlavi and he can keep the order after the regime fall.
Yeah I agree, It will be bloody to take down the Ayatollahs but I believe it's possible and to be honest it has nothing to do with Israel. These protests have been going it for a very long time now.

There is a documentary called "This is Our Story" from ManotoTV on Youtube.
It just published one day ago. Very fresh.
4 episodes. All just videos recorded by people from the recent Iranian protests.
Very long and very graphic but I promise you will find new things in it.

I'm Iranian, 7 years now living out of Iran. I'm biased on this. I agree but until I haven't watched this documentary, I couldn't believe how widespread the support for this guy is.

People got butchered, literally in January 8th, but again showed themselves on the street on January 9th calling for Reza Pahlavi. I'm personally shocked to be honest.

Explain how Iran getting nukes would be in our strategic interests.

Try not to read too much into the up votes or down votes in the sub. Reddit doesn’t give us any ability to moderate up votes or downvotes so it’s basically a tug-of-war between unknown participants.

“Israeli influence”

Ok.

Tell me specifically which part(s) of U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East is “influenced” by Israel and that you feel is not concurrently in the best strategic interests of the United States.

How would Iran obtaining nuclear weapons be in U.S. strategic interests?

A “rampage”? Was the U.S. on a rampage after 9/11? We slaughtered hundreds of thousands of Afghans and Iraqis, but our hands are cleaner than Israel’s? Please. As for your belief that Iran wasn’t that close… how do you know that? Where’s your intelligence coming from?

President Trump and Secretaries Rubio and Hegseth were confident in our actions. You and I can disagree but if you want to name drop, this discussion ends with one name: Trump. He’s the CinC and he made the right call.

We slaughtered millions of innocent so of course lets watch Israel do the same inhumane actions with us supporting it w weapons & funding

That’s not the point. The point is that American citizens won’t hold their own country accountable but they have no hesitation pointing the dirty finger at others. That’s called hypocrisy.

Do you know the definition of the word mercenary?
The people who rather you lose than win themselves.

This is the true definition of the regime of Iran. You don't believe it because you haven't lived among them. I have. I lived three decades in Iran. I know how fucked up these people think.

This regime should not obtain a nuclear weapon.

That is not the definition of mercenary

Well I'm super biased on this because I'm Iranian first and I'm very pro-Trump and pro-Israel. That's why I actually suggested Republicans should not step back especially in front Iranian regime. The regime is on the verge of collapse.
