The Petrova Line is pink but photographs purple 🤷‍♀️

Gay as hell statement.

I want to go as Grace for a Halloween party, but I can’t tell if his full body suit that he ties around his waist is red or orange. I keep seeing both, and I can’t tell if it’s the light or not. I’ve seen people cosplay both but I can’t tell. Does anybody have anything?

It made one of my friends snort (ironically) their water when i showed it to them without context. It didn’t actually take me that long to draw and i’m weirdly proud of it

Was thinking about modding some clothes inspired by the movie and saw this jacket.
I looove details, so now I’m wondering if anyone knows what 'CNSP' is short for, and also what the triangular patch in the front is, or if there’s any better shots of it :)

i found some barbie movie kens on sale and knew what i had to do! the monster high ghouls two new besties :D

bonus ken outfit after his haircut!

ive started animating a month ago- but its just mostly just me throwing random bs together and hoping it looks good (it doesnt) but here is my first ever actual walk cycle! its in the corner because i have something planned for it.

We know from the final chapter that Grace was beginning to suffer from arthritis and had to walk with a cane due to the high gravity. What other effects would there be on his body? For example, Grace eats almost pure protein with minimal fibre, this would not be good for his gut microbiome, and could cause constipation. Also his immune system would be weaker due to living in a mostly sterile environment.

Did anyone else get the email from Amazon that their steelbook is delayed? I was pretty excited because it said it should be arriving tomorrow for the longest time and then last second I get that 🥲 I don't normally pre-order things so just wanted to see if this is normal 😭

Hi everyone, i just finished watching Project Hail Mary last night. I didn't even know that there is a book behind the movie, but honestly i think it's one of the best sci-fi movies ever made. I might be wrong, but for a long time after watching Interstellar I didn't find anything much interesting till last night. so i guess it's a good idea to discuss the movie with people here to see your POV.

after watching, i love how much it cuts the edge between current human reality, without going too far away into extreme unrealistic thoughts. In the other hand, the alien friend Rocky and how they made this emotional relationship... that was crazy and you really feel it. Also the movie was not putting any ideologies in a toxic way, rather than just humans working together to survive.

I was looking forward to know more about Rocky's world, but i don't know if the book touches this part or not. But in final, i'm giving this movie 9.5/10. What do you guys think about it too?

My opinion of Eva Stratt is that what she did was morally wrong (and, honestly, not something that I could ever do myself) but ultimately the correct choice. I feel like this is a fairly common perception of her but I want to pose a question about it.

Would your opinion change if Grace and Rocky had failed? In this scenario Grace would have likely died in space too.

Because the argument I hear most often about why Stratt’s choice was right is because Grace did succeed, her Hail Mary paid off. But if he fails this is no longer a trolly problem where it’s one person vs 4 billion, she just killed 3 people early and the other 4 billion still died.

Personally, I still think she’d have made the correct choice but that discussion surrounding it would be far more complicated.

ik its been months since the movie came out and ppl have probably mentioned it on here already, but i find it interesting that Project Hail Mary has quite a few different direct english translations to its name across different languages, here are a few that i found, with their translations: (this is copy-pasted from tumblr, so the credits to the original true-to-meaning translations are with users' tumblr handles)

CHINESE

• 末日聖母號 (Traditional Chinese/Cantonese - Hong Kong & Macau): The Doomsday St. Mary (tho "聖母號" is just the canto translation for the Hail Mary ship's name, with "號" just being a chinese ship prefix)
• 極限返航 (Traditional Chinese - Singapore & Taiwan): Extreme Return Flight
• 挽救計劃 (Traditional Chinese) / 挽救计划 (Simplified Chinese - Mainland China): Rescue Plan

SPANISH

• Proyecto Fin del mundo (Hispanic America): Project End of the World
• Proyecto Salvación (Spain): Salvation Project (edit: seems that the more accurate translation would be Project Salvation rather than salvation project, thank u to @itsezra for telling me ^^)

PORTUGUESE

• Devoradores de Estrelas (Brazil): Devourers of Stars
• Projeto Hail Mary (Portugal): Project Hail Mary (same as English, but I thought it was interesting that there was a bit of variation between Brazil & Portugal so I included it here anyway)

OTHER LANGUAGES

• Projet Dernière Chance (French): Project Final Chance
• Posledná šanca (Slovak): Last Chance ( @hypo-critic-al )
• Spasitel (Czech): Savior/Messiah (grace & rocky 🥹) ( u/ttrajeudi )
• Thoát khỏi tận thế (Vietnamese): Escape From The Apocalypse
• Kurtuluş Projesi (Turkish): Liberation Project
• Проект «Конец света» (Russian): Project End of the World/Project End of Light (apparently "света" also means light, so that's pretty cool)
• Պրոյեկտ «Աշխարհի վերջ» (Armenian): Project Doomsday (i think there's also a few other languages that call it "Project Doomsday", but im not sure)
• Der Astronaut – Project Hail Mary (German): The Astronaut: Project Hail Mary
• L'ultima missione: Project Hail Mary (Italian): The Last Mission: Project Hail Mary
• Αποστολή Χαίρε Μαρία (Greek): Mission Hail Mary
• A Hail Mary-küldetés (Hungarian): Mission Hail Mary ( @is-this-taken-too-questionmark )
• LANGUAGES THAT CALL IT "THE DESPERATE ATTEMPT PROJECT"
• Пројекат Очајнички покушај (Serbian)
• Проектот Очајнички обид (Macedonian)

LANGUAGES THAT CALL IT "PROJECT AVE MARIA"

• Проектът „Аве Мария“ (Bulgarian)
• Аве Мария жобасы (Kazakh)
• Проєкт «Аве Марія» (Ukrainian)
• Projekts 'Ave Maria' (Latvian)
• Operaatio Ave Maria (Finnish): Operation Ave Maria
• Projektas Sveika, Marija (Lithuanian) ( @thanksveryga )

*note: I speak english, chinese, and a bit of french so i have more confidence in my translations for the names from those languages, but as for the other languages i may be off or wrong with my translations :,D
if any of you have a better translation which keeps the meaning from the original language more accurate for any of these, please feel free to correct me!

personally, my favorite of all of these is the cantonese translation of the name (followed closely by the czech translation, and then the brazilian translation!)

Hi everyone! I'm sorry if this kind of post is not allowed here, please delete if such the case!

I've been obsessed with this movie since it came out, and I really want to have some merch (possibly fanmade) of the movie/book. I'm interested in keychains, stickers, magnets etc , but unfortunately all that I see are outside of Europe!

If any of you know any trustworthy fan merch maker within EU (so no uk!) , I'd greatly appreciate any recommendations! Thank you!!

After a couple months of thrifting, I finally found the perfect sweater to alter. So far, I've stitched some guidelines, and did the nose and outlined the mouth. I'm using fingering weight yarn, so I may have to go over the stitches again to fill things in a bit more? I'll see how it goes. I'm really hoping I can at least finish the two fox heads on the front in the next couple of weeks because I'm helping out with a trunk or treat at the sheriff's department, and I'd really like to wear this. Please send words of encouragement!

I've only read the book, not seen the movie, but I kept waiting for Rocky to explain what the Blip-A's name in Erid actually was, and was left sorely disappointed. Did it have a name at all? I could see Eridians maybe not being as sentimental, especially because they had a little more time to figure out the astrophage problem, but I'm still curious.
