Hi everyone! I've been working on this fic for a while now and I'm honestly really proud of how it's turning out. Posting it on AO3 will be a little rough though. New fics get buried so fast, especially long ones that aren't finished yet, so I figured I'd share it here in case anyone's interested.

It's called The Quiet Rapture and it's a crossover between Project Hail Mary, Mickey 17, and Iron Lung.

It starts years after PHM. Grace is living on Erid, teaching a class of Eridian students, and Rocky has built him a ship that might finally get him back to Earth someday. On its first test flight they find a beat up submarine covered in blood, and the guy inside is Simon. Things go wrong pretty much immediately, and the crew ends up heading for Niflheim. (The planet Mickey17 is based on)

Long term, this is going to be a big story. I've got it planned out at around 60 chapters. It's a sci-fi mystery at its core, about figuring out what the Quiet Rapture actually is and what's causing it, with a lot of real science woven in (I've spent way too much time on Eridian biology lol). There's also horror and body horror, found family, a very slow burn Grace/Simon, Rocky/Adrian being married and adorable, and Creepers getting treated like the actual people they are. All three universes matter to the plot. None of them are just there for a cameo.

I want to go as Grace for a Halloween party, but I can’t tell if his full body suit that he ties around his waist is red or orange. I keep seeing both, and I can’t tell if it’s the light or not. I’ve seen people cosplay both but I can’t tell. Does anybody have anything?

It made one of my friends snort (ironically) their water when i showed it to them without context. It didn’t actually take me that long to draw and i’m weirdly proud of it

Halloween coming up and I want to make rocky enclosure as an backpack to bring to work. Im going to be dressing up as grace and I will be carrying rocky on my back throughout a portion of the day. Do you have any idea to make it. I dont really want to do a cat carrier backpack because I want to be a little more creative.

I have read lots of P.H.M. fanfiction, but almost ZERO Iron Lung fanfiction. I LOVED the I.L. movie in theaters, half-watched some YouTube playthroughs but dont know everything about I.L. So, newbie.

With that in mind, could you recommend me some bloodymary fics? Hopefully smth that explains any relevant I.L. lore instead of assuming I already know.

Hello everybody! I need your help for an article for my University's journal (I'm doing languages w/digital humanities) so i wanted to analyze the language used between Grace and Rocky. I need some articles or videos or anything in which I can found some answers. I found some articles and I read the book, but i want something more.

Gay as hell statement.

Rocky (and the other 23 Eridians RIP) ventured to Tau Ceti to research about how Eridians can save their own dying sun, but Rocky doesn't seem like he can see/perceive light.

The creators in a recent interview mentioned that Rocky can't see light "because his species evolved on a plant where light doesn't reach the surface, and so there was no benefit to evolving eyes", hence why they perceive vibrations through echolocation instead. We know that the Hail Mary team was there to save humanity from losing their primary food chain source, but judging by Rocky's time away from the Blip2 while on Dr Grace's ship, he doesn't seem to need food either.

So if he can't see the sun from his planet and his planet doesn't need the sun for food/wherever they get their energy source from, why does it matter if his sun dies, and why is it so important for him to get his sun back up and running?

EDIT: I guess you could also argue that the gravity of a star would control the solar system Rocky lives in, so the death of that star would throw the Eridian planet out of an orbiting system, but I'm honestly not equipped with science enough to fully get how horrible the consequences would be.

Hi everyone, i just finished watching Project Hail Mary last night. I didn't even know that there is a book behind the movie, but honestly i think it's one of the best sci-fi movies ever made. I might be wrong, but for a long time after watching Interstellar I didn't find anything much interesting till last night. so i guess it's a good idea to discuss the movie with people here to see your POV.

after watching, i love how much it cuts the edge between current human reality, without going too far away into extreme unrealistic thoughts. In the other hand, the alien friend Rocky and how they made this emotional relationship... that was crazy and you really feel it. Also the movie was not putting any ideologies in a toxic way, rather than just humans working together to survive.

I was looking forward to know more about Rocky's world, but i don't know if the book touches this part or not. But in final, i'm giving this movie 9.5/10. What do you guys think about it too?

I've only read the book, not seen the movie, but I kept waiting for Rocky to explain what the Blip-A's name in Erid actually was, and was left sorely disappointed. Did it have a name at all? I could see Eridians maybe not being as sentimental, especially because they had a little more time to figure out the astrophage problem, but I'm still curious.

My opinion of Eva Stratt is that what she did was morally wrong (and, honestly, not something that I could ever do myself) but ultimately the correct choice. I feel like this is a fairly common perception of her but I want to pose a question about it.

Would your opinion change if Grace and Rocky had failed? In this scenario Grace would have likely died in space too.

Because the argument I hear most often about why Stratt’s choice was right is because Grace did succeed, her Hail Mary paid off. But if he fails this is no longer a trolly problem where it’s one person vs 4 billion, she just killed 3 people early and the other 4 billion still died.

Personally, I still think she’d have made the correct choice but that discussion surrounding it would be far more complicated.

We know from the final chapter that Grace was beginning to suffer from arthritis and had to walk with a cane due to the high gravity. What other effects would there be on his body? For example, Grace eats almost pure protein with minimal fibre, this would not be good for his gut microbiome, and could cause constipation. Also his immune system would be weaker due to living in a mostly sterile environment.

personally, my favorite of all of these is the cantonese translation of the name (followed closely by the czech translation, and then the brazilian translation!)
