AMA-Finished Michael Lewis here! I’m the bestselling author of The Big Short and Moneyball and my new book, Blockers, about the early days of DOGE and the public servants who got in the way—and paid the price. Ask Me Anything on Oct. 12 at 2PM ET / 11AM PT.
Proof: https://www.instagram.com/p/DeZfueMxa7y/
Hi, I’m Michael Lewis. I’m the bestselling author of books including The Big Short, Moneyball, Going Infinite, and Liar’s Poker, and the host of the podcast Against the Rules.
Through my books like The Fifth Risk and Who Is Government? The Untold Story of Public Service, I developed a deep interest in government and the civil service. I saw bad things happening to public servants because they were getting in the way of Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency by simply doing their jobs.
It made me wonder: If these public servants can’t survive in government today, what does that say about us?
That question led me to write Blockers, the story of six individuals. One kept Americans’ most sensitive tax data out of the wrong hands. Another made sure politicians and civil servants played by the rules. One figured out how to help stop wildfires from destroying suburban neighborhoods, while another helped uncover the mysteries of cystic fibrosis.
Ask me anything about Blockers, government, the writing process, my previous books, podcasting, or anything else related to the civil service and government!
EDIT: Thanks everyone, I'll pop back in as I see more. For now, get the book available everywhere and the audiobook exclusively here: https://blockers.fm/
