Arctic AIO RMA process

I bought the ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II a while back and I noticed the warranty is extended up to 6 years. I was happy to see that, but I wanted to check the RMA process. Basically, you have to ship it to them all the way to Germany. That sounds great if you live local but how does that help me in the US? I am not gonna wait months for you to repair my AIO if it needs fixing. I am curious if anyone has done the RMA for these AIOs

99% Likely DOA 4090 (factory direct) approved for RMA, but I'd like to test it out on another system before sending it off. Suggestions to find a test bench? Every shop insists I drop it off (hell no). Also, how will ASUS replace a discontinued card with no real value comp? First time RMA'ing a GPU

TLDR: For the sake of making this as brief as possible without listing EVERY troubleshooting step, please trust I did all the reseating, cable swapping, BIOS updates, driver installs etc, and the system ultimately worked fine with two other cards. My questions pertain strictly to (1) testing options where I don't have to drop off the card unattended at the shop, as I'm not risking some of the horror stories I've heard even BEFORE gpus were eleventy billion dollars, and (2) if the answer is to just RMA it, what will they likely do to replace a card that has been long discontinued? First time RMA'ing a gpu, so any heads up would be appreciated.

Ultimately, I'm seeking advice on what lengths I should go to to find a test bench before RMA'ing it and having them send me back a card well below the value and power of the 4090. More details and partpicker list below for those with more questions

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/rbVvHW

I did a 4090 build for a friend in February, card was showing all signs of DOA after full troubleshooting. It powered up the lights, but the fans didn't start up, the Q-code read D6 (graphics card abnormal), and BIOS wouldn't recognize it, even after flashing. The old 580 I plugged in powered up and the fans ran with no error code, but it wasn't recognized by BIOS either, until I wiped and did another flash, and it worked fine. Went back to the 4090, no dice. Wiped and flashed, still nothing. Again, still nothing. It wouldn't fit in my old 580 rig, so trying another system entirely was the only stone left unturned, so I went ahead and got an RMA number.

Friend snagged a 5090 instead of waiting for the RMA to come back, and first try it powered up with no error code and fans ran, but like the 580, BIOS still couldn't find it. So I flashed AGAIN, and it was suddenly recognized and has been running like a dream ever since. I tried the 4090 one last time, but again, nothin doin. Friend told me to keep the 4090 as a thanks for the build. Due to life, I just now got around to getting a new RMA number, as the last one from Feb obviously expired.

QUESTION ONE: Now that I'm finally getting around to sending it off, I can't help but feel like there was something funky going on between that particular system/mobo and would love to try it on another system to see if it actually works, but I don't have a rig that can do that, and every single shop I called within a 30 minute radius (including Microcenter) won't even let me be present for the testing, much less let me use a test bench to see if it gets recognized.

Even small shops that I offered to pay full price for "testing and diagnostics" wouldn't let me simply be present when they plugged it in to make sure it wasn't getting messed with or swapped out. I'm guessing the answer is to just RMA it, but I figured I'd get input here first, as I've never RMA'd an insanely expensive, sought after card that has been discontinued for two years.

QUESTION TWO: Assuming the correct answer is to RMA it, what should I expect to receive as reimbursement if it is indeed a dead card? Customer service was reading boilerplate to me and would tell me literally nothing about the process or reimbursement short of the fact that they do not offer monetary refunds, and that the replacement will be a card that "they believe" to be equivalent to the 4090, but is well below the value and power of the card.

Sorry for the long post, but I tried to answer as many of the questions folks would ask instead of replying back and forth in the comments.

G.Skill Customer for Life

G.SKILL earned a customer for life with this RMA

My DDR5 32GB G.SKILL Flare X5 kit that I originally got as part of a package a few years ago for around $70, was causing consistent crashes.

Fast forward to now, and the same RAM is going for an absolutely ridiculous amount of money around $600 on its own.

I figured the RMA process was going to be a headache, especially considering how much the value has changed since I bought it.

Nope.

G.SKILL handled the RMA with basically no questions asked. No fighting over the original purchase price, no trying to prorate it, no runaround. Just stood behind their product and warranty.

You obviously never want your RAM to fail, but hardware dies sometimes. How a company handles it afterward matters a lot more to me.

Couldn't really ask for a better experience.

XXXXX gskill honors warranty

simply telling my RMA experience with gskill last month.

i bought the RAM as part of a combo deal from microcenter in 2023. the RAM was the "free" item, valued at 1 cent on the receipt, which i was worried about being a problem. come 2026 when i finally run memtest and test all the various RAM configs in different slots, 1 stick is completely bad.

the RMA process was easy. i submitted the form on Thursday sep 10th at noon, got the RMA confirmation Friday morning, sent out the RAM via USPS ground friday, and was holding my brand new RAM on Wednesday. they never asked for the receipt, just the date of purchase, serial and location of purchase.

def a gskill fan for life for holding up their end of the bargain and making the process so easy.

XXXX- Newegg sent wrong parts and denying a refund even with unboxing video.

Newegg shipped me someone's previous return with swapped parts. I sent them pictures and a full unboxing video. They just emailed me that they are denying the refund.

This shit is getting out of hand. I filed a chargeback but it shouldn't have to get to this point.

They need to do a better job with their inventory.

XXXXX 9 months after my ASUS ROG Strix RTX 4090 died, the only replacement offered is a 16GB RTX 5080. Is that really equivalent?

Quick recap: my Asus STRIX RTX 4090 (24GB) had a vapor chamber failure. ASUS and the retailer acknowledged it was a hidden defect. The 4090 is out of production/stock, so I went to Turkey's consumer arbitration board and got a court ruling for replacement with a defect-free equivalent.

It's been more than 9 months since i initially sent my card to the RMA service center and nine months in, this is ASUS's latest answer: a refund, or one of three RTX 5080 16GB models.

  • PROART-RTX5080-O16G
  • TUF-RTX5080-O16G-GAMING
  • PRIME-RTX5080-O16G

The refund is the original invoice amount from 2024. Using Turkey's official inflation calculator, that money is worth less than half of what I actually paid. (not even counting the overall GPU price increases that we saw during the last 2 years, thanks to AI)

So I'm asking honestly: is a 16GB 5080 an equivalent replacement for a 24GB STRIX 4090? I use the card for local AI models and CUDA rendering, where VRAM is very important. As far as I can tell the 4090 beats the 5080 on VRAM, raw performance and compute. The only current card at or above 24GB is the 5090, which they won't offer. Am I being unreasonable not accepting the 5080 for my previous flagship model?

Never buy computer parts on Amazon.

Hi everyone, I'd like to share my bitter experience. I once bought a Ryzen 7700x processor from Amazon, and guess what? The box arrived cracked and empty, without the processor. And despite having video evidence that the leak was on Amazon's end, this bunch of scammers refused to refund my money and brazenly advised me to contact the police, knowing full well that I ordered from abroad and couldn't contact the police in the US. I'd like to point out that I chose Amazon as both the delivery service and the seller, naively thinking that this would protect me as a customer. But that was a mistake, despite the fact that I've made several thousand dollars worth of purchases on Amazon, they don't value loyal customers.

Lenovo canceled my laptop order after months of delays and contradictory support

I’m extremely frustrated with Lenovo’s customer service and wanted to share my experience.

I noticed on Lenovo’s website that some laptops had very long wait times and delivery dates months away. Since I’m traveling internationally for an extended period in about two months, I specifically wanted to order something that was already available and could ship immediately.

I contacted Lenovo support, explained the situation, and the agent recommended a laptop that was supposedly ready to ship. I placed the order based on that information.

Then nothing happened.

The processing status on Lenovo’s tracking page didn’t change for an entire month. I started worrying that the laptop wouldn’t arrive before I left, so I called customer service several times. Every time, the agent seemed unaware of what was happening and told me that the issue would be escalated and that I would receive an email update within 24 hours.

I never received a single update.

Eventually, the estimated delivery date was changed to a date after I would already be out of the country. I called again and asked whether the delivery address could be changed to my friend’s address. The agent told me that because the laptop hadn’t shipped yet, Lenovo couldn’t change the address, but that I could change it through the carrier once it shipped.

That information turned out to be wrong.

Once the order shipped and I received the tracking number, I contacted UPS. They told me the shipment was locked by Lenovo and that only the sender could change the delivery address. I called Lenovo again, and this time I was told that changing the address was impossible and that the only option was to cancel the order.

After going back and forth with the agent, I became understandably angry and specifically told them not to cancel the order. My plan was to have a friend wait at my address and receive the laptop once I knew the delivery date.

The next day, I received an email from Lenovo saying that my order had been canceled.

I called immediately. Once again, the agent had no idea what had happened and promised to fix the situation and send me an email update within 24 hours. Of course, no email ever came.

When I called again, the agent claimed that I had requested the cancellation and told me there was nothing Lenovo could do. The only option, apparently, was to place a new order for another laptop.

Seriously, Lenovo?

After waiting nearly four months, making multiple frustrating phone calls, repeatedly explaining the same situation, and receiving contradictory information from different agents, Lenovo canceled my order, even after I explicitly told them not to.

The entire experience was disorganized, exhausting, and incredibly disrespectful of my time. I bought the laptop because I needed reliable delivery before traveling, and Lenovo failed at every stage: fulfillment, communication, address support, escalation, and basic accountability.

and oh, last straw .. their chat system is even more frustrating: I was never able to identify because their stupid chat system was not recognizing my order number. Later I discovered that it was related to the fact that my order number starts with a letter that their own chat system doesn't recognize ....

Never again.

Punch Technology UK (Update)

I received my computer and am extremely happy and satisfied. The pc ran smoothly, had mud-high end 9070 XT (originally was meant to get swift but received hellhound).

Parts are installed well and cable management is SO GOOD. Like seriously how? And then performance and temperatures run great. NO BLOATWARE AT ALL!

I did have the gpu power cable touching 1 of the gpu fans (through shipping it shifted there) that stopped the fan from spinning but a small moving of the cable and it was fixed.

EXTREMELY FAST and first time ordering a pre-built! (Too lazy to build myself these days tbh).

Don’t go to Hypertech Computers in OPKS.

HEADS UP: Don’t shop at Hypertech Computers in OPKS. (Refurbished electronics). Tried to return a defective device within the return window. Was told the device must be returned with the cord & adapter. Both were sold separately and worked just fine. Both employees got hot and dramatic: “I’m calling 911!” Adorable. Finally got the other employee to cave - refunded the defective device and charged a 15% return fee.

Went to Office Depot, bought a new device that cost $8 more than the crappy one at Hypertech. Never buying used again.

Btw: the Po Po never showed up. 🙄🤭

Apprently, they don't have a breakout cable for my cooler, and suggesting me to buy to a china store for some reason. It's a crucial part of the cooler and you don't have this. L support. what a loss. I won't buy from this store again.

So I'm considering buying a computer from them since they seem to have good options and value.

As I am paying for a decently expensive computer, I'd like to know and have some guarantee that they are legitimate.

Amazon sends bin bags instead of GPU and DDR5 memory

Three weeks ago I bought an AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT and 32 GB of DDR5 memory for 1072 Euros from Amazon Germany. I was pretty happy that I got a relatively good price considering the price rises and offers at other retailers.

I'm still more than shocked about what was inside the package: A roll of bin bags!

Amazon asked me to return the bin bags which they received more than two weeks ago. Customer service is not helping at all and keep telling me that I have to wait at least a month before they process my return due to the value of it.

I'm very shocked about that Amazon employees are stealing in the warehouses and Amazon doesn't care about it customer service anymore. At the same time it's not surprising given the enshitification of Amazon that has been very noticeable IMO in the UK and Germany.

I'm sharing this experience to warn people about the risk in ordering these items online! I know it is much harder to buy these items in regular shops, but if you have the opportunity to pick something up in person and verify that it the item is actually inside the package it is worth something!

My ex-UK laptop has failed repeatedly under warranty, and the seller keeps repairing it .What are my options?

I bought an ex-UK laptop on March 3rd this year with a six-month warranty. It worked well for the first two months, but in the third month it started lagging, showing 100% RAM and memory usage before crashing to a blue screen. I wiped and reinstalled Windows using a USB, thinking the issue was resolved.

About a month later, the laptop crashed again and went into BIOS, where it requested a password I had never set. I immediately returned it to the seller. He opened it and claimed the 256GB SSD had been damaged by moisture, blaming cold temperatures in my room. He asked me to pay KSh 7,000 for a replacement SSD, which I did. However, the BIOS password issue remained, so he bypassed it instead of removing it.

A week later, the laptop crashed again. I returned it, and after two days he said it had been serviced and assured me it would not crash again. When I asked about the BIOS password, he claimed ex-UK laptops normally come with such passwords.

Now, just one week later, the laptop has crashed again and will not turn on properly. The fan is spinning extremely fast, and my six-month warranty expires in about two weeks.:::

X---- Must be fake or used, right?

I wanted to buy 8 GB of sodium DDR4 RAM with 2400mhz for RAM expansion. I checked Amazon. I knew the prices were going up almost every week. I tried to find it via other sources. I found sellers on Indiamart and Justdial; these guys offer the same type of RAM for such a low price. 2.5k, 3.7k, and so many other pricing ranges. How the hell is the price so low compared to the rest of the market? The difference is almost 50 percent. That too, RAM is unavailable at so many places. If any need is watching, please, bruh, do share why. Also, it's my first laptop. I bought an SSD way back, so it was cheap; I don't want to risk anything. The common thing I found was that these sellers were mostly from Delhi and our beloved Gurgaon 😂.
