Discussion Concert tonight! šŸ–¤šŸ„°

Going to my very first MiW concert tonight ever here in Portland, OR. (Took the photo from Google because it’s relevant to my post! šŸ˜…šŸ³ļøā€āš§ļøšŸ–¤) I’ve been a massive fan of them since I was 13. I’m 31 now and… my love for MiW never stopped, it just… grew up. šŸ–¤ I love them so much and I feel like I’m 13 again, jittery and excited, I could barely sleep last night. It’s barely almost noon and I keep checking the clock as if it’s suddenly gonna be 4pm and I need to start getting ready to leave. šŸ˜‚

I feel lucky cause I got a seat up high, staring right at the stage, dead center. 🄹 my fiancĆ© bought me the ticket as a gift because he knows how much I love them, and he even is sending me money for a hoodie tonight. He even started listening to their music on his own and even likes them now too. I feel so lucky to be with someone who understands and loves me so much like this. We’ve been together for almost four years now, loved each other for 10, and were long distance when we were 21 and 26. We’re now getting married next year and happily living together finally here in Portland. šŸ„¹šŸ–¤

I’m scared to be so honest to total strangers, but this community has always been so supportive and loving, so… here goes nothing. šŸ˜…šŸ„² I’m also getting my top surgery finally (after 12 years of waiting!) on Friday morning, and it felt perfectly timed that I get to see Motionless in White and Lorna Shore, two of my favorite bands ever, 3 days before my surgery that will be the last step to becoming who I am, who I’ve always been. 🄹 My two favorite songs off Decades right now are ā€œRIPā€, which reminds me and my fiance of how much we have loved each other for ten years now šŸ’–, and ā€œAfraid of the Darkā€. šŸ–¤

But Afraid of the Dark is my favorite for… me. And I have a feeling tonight that I’ll cry singing along, because it’s how I feel about what’s coming for me on Friday. I spent years trying to prove to the world that I could be the man I always knew I was inside, but my family was extremely homophobic and transphobic, abüsive, and I had to detransition twice because of my mom’s… hate, to put it mildly. 🫠 The last words she said to me in January were ā€œI wish you had stayed d3@d for the last time when you were born, because your whole life has been miserable because you’re disabled and ill and this whole trans thing is so stupid. Some kids shouldn’t see this side of Heaven.ā€

I was so heartbroken, I couldn’t take it anymore and immediately removed them all from my life, got back on testosterone for good, and finally started the process for surgery. And… Friday morning is my last step to being… me. And ā€œAfraid of the Darkā€ really resonates with me, especially in these last 3 days before my entire life… changes.

ā€œI've given my life, I suffered and sacrificed to find that fear is only fatal 'til it's alchemized. To heal is to repurpose, take the stage and siphon all the power from the pain. I turned my struggles into my strength.

If the answer is in the unknown, would you question the path you take? If the past didn't hurt to let go, would your future be yours to reclaim?

You'll never know yourself 'til you walk alone, with blind faith and broken bones. So follow the light in your heart and be not afraid of the dark.

Will you follow me to where love met destruction? Doubt only dies if you keep pouring trust in. Fight or surrender your dreams, ā€˜cause it's give up or give everything.ā€

I know this is long and no one will probably care and maybe I’m just spewing into the void but… I’m really grateful for this opportunity and this community, and it’s just so surreal that all of this is happening in the same week. If you made it this far and didn’t just skim, thank you for reading this. šŸ„¹šŸ–¤ I dunno how I’m gonna feel by Saturday, but if y’all could send me good thoughts and vibes or prayers or whatever, that would be so appreciated, from one MiW fan to the rest of us. šŸ„¹šŸ–¤

Edited: I had the best time of my life, made a few new friends, took so many pics and videos I cannot possibly post them all here, cried, laughed, and sang and screamed until my throat was raw and my voice is now gone. I will never, ever forget this night, and it was the best concert of my entire life. Every single band was absolutely incredible, but Motionless in White absolutely was my favorite performance of the night. I now also have a new hoodie that will take the top spot forever as my favorite one. Thank you to everyone that has supported and been so sweet and loving on this post! I thought about all of you tonight, and sang and screamed my soul out for each one of you. You all helped make tonight the best night and concert of my life. I’ll definitely be seeing Motionless in White again when I can. šŸ„¹šŸ’–šŸ’–

And to anyone else who doesn’t like this, doesn’t think that MIW should support the LGBT community openly, I just want you to know, they lit up the entire stage in rainbow during Voices, for šŸ³ļøā€šŸŒˆUSšŸ³ļøā€āš§ļø specifically. And if you have a problem with that, the band clearly has a problem with you and you can go on somewhere else and find a band who doesn’t like us, and supports your hate. Chris and the rest of Motionless don’t want your support, don’t need your hate, and clearly love the LGBTQ community with their entire hearts. šŸ’– so. Have fun. 🤩

Discussion Worst album of their career?

Man, I am so disappointed in Decades. The reason I became obsessed with MIW was because their ability to make heavy aggressive music with big catchy choruses. Everything from WLMD to Reincarnate is a 10/10 for me, with every release after that simply ok, with great songs sprinkled in. Graveyard Shift is alright, i freaking love Disguise (but i don't enjoy brand new numb or catharsis), and STEOTW is alright. I enjoy some albums much more than others, but every album i mentioned is listenable all the way through.

But man, for the first time ever, and I say this as a superfan, I did not enjoy Decades. It is excruciatingly poppy. Playing God and Afraid Of The Dark are the only 2 heavy songs on the album. All the other songs are way too 80s pop for me. I don't mind if its one song (like Werewolf on STEOTW), but when it's the whole album, i do not want to re-listen to it. And it's a massive shame because the singles released were some of the best MIW songs in a long time. In addition to that, Chris has verses where he sings too slow, and it kind of throws me off. It's ruining the energy of the song.

Aside from the 3 singles (which are fantastic), there is no other song worth revisiting. The 80s pop, the heavy eurotrance/EDM/dubstep breakdowns, the RnB influence on Blood Rave or the straight up cringe intro to Blood Pact, i feel it all results in the worst album of their career. And the mixing of the album feels sterile and lifeless as well. Especially on the drums.

Again, I consider myself a superfan and I am excited to see them live next week. But are there any fans here who feel similar to the way I do? While Creatures-like vibes may never come back, they can still make killer albums, such as Disguise. But Decades is not it! Am I the only one who feels this way? Does anybody agree with me?

Discussion You can take one song off of Decades. Which one are you going with?

Let’s see how interesting this conversation will get. Personally I think I have to go with Blood Pact, not that it isn’t a good song of course but I personally think it’s the weakest.

(Loved the whole album start to finish, by the way.)

For me, it's Loud. It's just, meh. It's probably the only MIW song I skip when doing a discography listen through.

Discussion Now that Decades has been out for a little while, what do we all think of it? At first listen I thought it felt a bit generic to their sound, but i’ve grown to love it and see it as a culmination of all of their past work over the decades. Thoughts?

Discussion MIW HATE makes NO sense

I’ve been seeing people say the album sucks because it has too much EDM, too much Synth, corny lyrics, etc… this just tells me yall never really followed the band like that.

Did we forget motionless had Celldweller and combichrist remixes on creatures and infamous? Or The Final Dicvtm on reincarnate? Wasp? The intro to count choculitis? Like cmon, this has always been their thing lol. They even did synthwave versions of werewolf and voices. There’s no way yall heard the new album and said ā€œOMG THEY’RE EXPERIMENTING WITH EDM. ITS TRASHā€

And don’t even get me started on the corny lyrics because Chris has ALWAYS had fun with them. Does ā€œSomebody call a tow truck cuz this is a fucking breakdownā€ ring any bells? Or Santa’s pissed? Again, they’ve been doing this forever.

I’ve seen people say ā€œahh but they sound so much like breaking Benjamin. Or Marilyn Manson. Or Slipknot. Or XYZ band.ā€ Chris has been stating for YEARS that he loves those bands to death and he’s a huge fan. A lot of their influence is directly from those bands so it makes sense WHY they sound the way they do. It’s always been an homage to those bands than it is a ā€œrip offā€.

They’ve never been just strictly a METALCORE band. Some would argue the demo and the whorror were more post hardcore influenced with the dissonant chord progressions.

Sometimes the hate just seems to stem from the fact you want them to sound exactly like your favorite song off creatures on every song for every album but They’ve always delivered traditional creatures metalcore over the years. Timebomb. Undead ahead 2. The ladder. 570. Creatures X. Afraid of the dark. Break the cycle. Puppets 3. Etc. to act like they’ve abandoned those roots is crazy.

Okay rant over.

Discussion I did not like Decades

Honestly not much to say about it, I understand the concept but I cant get past the fact that it sounds like scoring the end of the world and very recycled, It kinda sucks coz i was looking forward for this album and been a fan for so many years. The lyrics feel lazy and rehearsed, I'd be interested in your opinions as well.

Discussion The Dog Situation.

Post image
1.0k Upvotes

I'm honestly so pissed off at this. Someone brought a dog to an MiW concert with no protection for the ears. Dogs shouldn't be at ANY concerts in general. It stresses them out. MiW has loud concerts since they're metalcore, and someone decided to bring a dog there. That makes me pissed off. Dogs have very sensitive ears and bringing them to a loud concert can damage their ears and possibly get hearing loss. That person really doesn't deserve a pet after that. It makes me sick that people are getting mad at Vinny for defending dogs and saying not to bring dogs to their concert. Do people not realize that dogs ears are more sensitive than human ears? If you ever thought about bringing any pet to concerts, don't. It's not worth it at all. Here's the tweet Vinny posted on Twitter.

Discussion Is it weird to go to a Motionless in White concert alone?

I’m planning on seeing MIW in Switzerland, but none of my friends are really into this kind of music, so I’ll most likely be going by myself. I’ve also never been to a metal concert before, so I’m a little nervous about going completely alone.

Is it common for people to go to MIW shows alone? And is there any good way to meet other people online who are going to the same show, especially other people who are also going alone? It would be really cool to find a few people beforehand and maybe meet up or go together.

Also, if anyone has any tips for going to a MIW concert alone (or just for MIW concerts in general), I’d really appreciate them! I’d love to be somewhere near the front if possible, but since it’s my first metal concert, I don’t really know what to expect.

I’m super excited to finally see them live, I’m just a little unsure about doing the whole thing by myself :)

Discussion Brutally honest album review of (Decades) as a MIW super fan. (SPOILERS!!! Duh…) Spoiler

This album is pretty good. Some songs were a bit underwhelming, like Blood Rave (could have been way heavier and featured Anthony more, especially his harsh vocals), and Count Back From Zero’s breakdown was a bit weird? I wouldn’t even classify it as a breakdown tbh. Sunglasses at night (cover), was really good. All the other songs not mentioned were pretty decent. Overall, i give the album a 6.5/10.

In my opinion, while this album is overall pretty good, it’s probably their most underwhelming album. (It may grow on me) I came in with pretty high expectations (considering they are my favorite band) and I genuinely wish I could call this a 10/10 album, but it’s just not. The 3 singles were the 3 best songs on the album.

Love you motionless, I really do, but this album had SO much potential. What happened?

On this day (October 12th) Motionless In White released their debut record ā€œCreaturesā€ and it’s really good. It’s not their best (imo) but it has some solid songs in there like Undead Ahead, Puppets, and of course Abigail but my personal favorite is definitely one I think is underrated and I believe Chris at one point said that this was their most underrated song and that is… Sciossorhand (the last snow). I will definitely listen to this album today to celebrate. What’s your favorite song off creatures and what did you think about this album?

Also on a side note could someone explain to me the snow thing they had going on with puppets 1 and scissorhands I don’t rlly understand it

Recently post from Balz. I'm curious about what he is hinting at. Will it be just a reprise during Apocalypse Fest or something else? Considering the comments got turned off in the Facebook group (Of course) it makes one wonder. Here's to hoping for a greater return to MIW beyond just Apocalypse Fest!

Discussion BMTH & MIW sold out American Airlines Center in Dallas, yet Trump can’t. Only 2,000 tickets have been dispersed out of 20k for the RNC convention in Dallas. The same venue those bands sold out in one night.

This is so fucking funny to me. Bring Me The Horizon and Motionless in White are more popular in Texas than Trump. I never thought the day would come where metal outsold the president 🤣🤣🤣
