I feel exactly as you do. I think Newsom is too focused on social media and trolling Trump. Those who live inside a certain online bubble get this - but I am going to assume that the majority of people don't live inside of that bubble. And they will be fooled by the flyers. It reminds me of the NO on 8 campaign, which fooled a lot of people.
Oh for sure. I just opened my mail and saw some in there for me. Will you pls post the address you're sending them to? I agree, it's easy to just stick them back in an envelope with a note that says “Take some advice!” or something like that. If there are that many, they can be sent to other Texas Repubs or even other republican governors who might be considering the same thing. It’s great guerrilla marketing/canvassing to the opposition, no matter what.

I’m going full fucking troll.
I might send a landscape card of our city: “greetings from Los Angeles” or maybe troll him with a picture of newsom pushing him along in his wheel chair.
Your choice to vote in the democrat or the republican primary is recorded and is public information, effectively the same as being registered to that party.
No it isn't. A lot of Dems choose to vote in the Republican primaries here to try and oust the most insane. Also a lot of races run completely without any Dems here, sometimes you will see R v R.
Or maybe a picture of Gavin pushing him along in his wheel chair.
Just remember that Abbott is enough of a whiner that he'll probably claim it as a threat if you put their faces on the meme of the anime girl throwing the other anime girl in a wheelchair over a cliff. So definitely don't do that.
All set to be mailed out tomorrow. I included a politely worded note for “Governor Hot Wheels” and his staff to express how disappointed I am with him and the leaders of his party. Finding creative ways to say “fuck you” while remaining professional is one of the few joys I have left. LMAO
It’s funny cause the flyer is correct. Now why don’t we embrace independent districting nationwide, so we aren’t forced into this arms race of gerrymandering?
Texas is doing it, and California will stop it they stop.
Partisan gerrymandering may be ethicly and morally wrong but according to SCOTUS it is legal as states have the right to draw their Congressional districts by any rules or laws they make. The only exclusion was gerrymandering to wipe out minority votes but that may change when SCOTUS rules on the Louisiana map.
I love asking people who are upset by this if they're upset with the gerrymandering happening in Texas, because, without fail, they're always conveniently unable to answer yes or no. It's so disingenuous.
Someone else starts an arms race, what is the reaction supposed to be? When Texas did it, they said straight up: This is to help Republicans, the Supreme Court said we can do it, so we did. Was this group worried about Texas?
What if people started volunteering for them but didn’t actually stump on their behalf? Like go door to door advocating to pass the bill while saying you’re doing the opposite. Is that illegal? Asking for a friend…
That analogy shouldn’t even work on most people. Like I would imagine most people can imagine a scenario where pawning your family treasure for some quick cash is the better outcome.
Like “local mob boss is about to take everything you love and hold dear, and pawning the ring your great great grandma passed onto to you is the only way to save them.” I think most people choose their family and livelihood over a prized possession. It’s not like we can hide our democracy and claim bankruptcy on the country like we just owe debt to the bank.
I actually agree with everything on that pamphlet, but I still support the initiative. The best solution would be a federal requirement that every state have an independent districting commission (although I don't think it would be constitutional, not that that matters much these days), but failing that Democrats have to fight fire with fire.
Exactly my thought. It sucks that this is the world we live in, but we do live in it, and I'll vote for (almost) anything that impedes Trump in any way.
That's her website. She's the only person on the Right Path California homepage.
Here's the FIRST THING on her webpage:
"I’ve dedicated the last four years to making the California Republican Party stronger than ever. As a lifelong Republican activist, I know the importance of a strong state party."
Jessica Millan Patterson is a wife, mother, and the Chairwoman of the California Republican Party, where she is the first woman and Latina to serve as chair
While I agree gerrymandering is bad regardless of who does it, getting offended at the people doing it in direct response to OTHER people already doing it, and NOT getting mad at the instigators is grounds for commitment to a psychiatric care home.
I am thrilled to gerrymander the shit out of this state. Do it. I’m so done playing this game where democrats have to be respectable while republicans do whatever the hell they want.
This is what we understand - the morality of partisan gerrymandering can't be isolated from the consequences of letting votes be nullified nationwide. Congressional seats in red states are already packed and cracked, so that populations that vote 60-40 get Republican representation in all or nearly every seat.
Fuck the games. The Right loves to play this card. And the Left usually falls for it. If it wasn't for double standards, the Right wouldn't have standards at all.
I can’t stress this enough - talk to people about this issue and tell them why you are voting Yes.
I had a chat with a 26 year old who is mostly offline/doesn’t deep dive the current dumpster fire due to being overwhelmed/burnout - as a lot of folks are because this is a feature not a bug of the current admin. I explained what was going on in Texas, how redistricting usually only happens after every 10 year census, and how we were taking this correction to the people with a vote instead of forcing it upon them.
They were stunned and agreed to vote in the upcoming election.
So please - make sure to talk to people and explain why a yes vote is critical. And ffs don’t judge if they don’t know what’s going on. They’ve been overwhelming us since 1/20 so they can get away with this shit.
Are they handing these out in Texas and all the other red states where they’re planning on doing it as well? Do they think a violent insurrection and trying to overturn an election is wrong no matter which side does it? Do they feel that way about SCOTUS seats being stolen? Lying, shameless, hypocritical sacks of shit.
👉Right Path California is a scummy GOP backed (fake nonpartisan) org. They claim to be nonpartisan but use lies to deceive. Don’t fall for their scuzzy propaganda tactics
Our nation’s democracy is literally being smothered to death with Gerrymandered republicanism, and while I don’t typically care for it, this time hearing the Republican hypocrisy is just music to my ears. They are fighting with fire while they expect the opposition to just stand there and take it with one arm-tied behind its back. Alas, they’re about to find out what happens when the shoe is on the other foot, because it’s time to kick Trump’s ass.
Straight into the recycle bin. I just wish I could return to sender with a big “Fuck You,” underscored with, “thank you for your attention to the matter.”
Yeh. When you’ve got a holocaust reenactment and white supremacists trying to crash the economy and society, you’ve gotta do what the fuck you’ve gotta do.
What absolutely SUCKS about these flyers, and will make them that much more persuasive, is that for once they aren't lying. Gerrymandering absolutely is wrong no matter who does it, but in this case two wrongs do make a right.
File that shit right in the bottom of the recycling bin.
Democrats can’t be the only ones loosely playing by the rules anymore. Fight that fire with fire.
ICE is running around grabbing random people off the streets and sending them who knows where with no due process. I hate gerrymandering but a fascist takeover of the federal government is not the time to worry about playing fair when another state’s doing worse.
Anyone that votes against this is voting against their own self interest. Trump is withholding disaster assistance and funding from your state. If you're an R, do you really want to have your tax money diverted away? They are also weaponizing agencies, they might close most SSA/DOL offices in your state for spite. That will be terrible for people with disabilities, the elderly and working class people. Don't let them c*ck you guys.
"California has become a national model for independent redistricting. Let's protect the integrity of our democratic process and reject the dangerous idea of mid-cycle redistricting." - Gloria Chun Hoo, president of the League of Women Voters
That may be true, but it is the only real response to what is happening to Texas, and whatever the courts decide California should shrug and say sorry, not listening. Other states do this without impunity, California should follow suit.

BTW their CEO just finished a stint as the Chairwoman of the California Republican Party.
