Grace getting her writing credit from the jump 🔥 wow I feel like hiring her is like them hiring a celebrity (as a grace fan)

Yesss thanks for doing this!
I know it’s kind of a cliche to say the cut for time sketch was the best one, but it kinda was. Promising to see it was written by two new writers (Bam Alston joined this year and Jo Sunday joined last season I believe)

Holy cow, the premiere was quite a night for Jeremy in the writer's room - especially considering that, aside from his update features, only one of his sketches made it to air last season.

Looking at last season's threads:
Pinwheel
Espresso Martini (cut)
Tucker
On Blast
CPAP (cut)
Tucker
On Blast
Toobins (cut)2

But Toobins is one of my favorite sketches from last season. Such a shame it got cut

I was not a fan of Jeremy Culhane last season. I did not think he had the chops.
This thread made me realize he had the strongest episode among all cast members. North High was a great sketch, his Tucker Carlson is the best one yet (funnier subject matter to me), and the Respectscles sketch was fantastic (in my mind the best use of Brunson in the episode). What surprises me here is that both sketches mentioned above were stronger than any that preceded them.
Jeremy Culhane has earned his spot on the show and I am looking forward to more of him.
Edit: Brunson's monologue was bad but it was accurate about one thing: the latter part of the show was much stronger than the first part.

My most unpopular opinion is probably not really finding Jeremy that funny on-screen. But agree that he's growing on me - hoping I'll be able to get the hype more as the season progresses.

Gives me a good feeling about Bam Alston as a writer if he co-wrote a banger like that cut-for-time in his first episode.

I think if they'd just tightened it a little it probably would have made it to the show.
Fortunately, learning how to trim sketches down will likely come with experience. This really was a very promising start for Bam.

Renew for second season based on the “covered income” joke alone

I think we can safely put Mikey down solo for the airport massage chairs. Also, Jeremy coming in hot this season!

This didn't feel like a solo Mikey sketch to me.
Also, Mikey almost never writes solo.

Yeah it's rare that full sketches are credited to one writer. Mikey also frequently cowrites with Streeter Seidell

The support group one was absolutely awful, can’t believe that shit made it to air.

I thought to myself: wait, a second sketch with Mikey Day leading a conversation amongst a group of people in a vague office setting? Oof.
