Discussion This is what I was taught in Lubavitch Chosson classes. I'm wondering what others were taught, and if they consider this normal?

Asking from a genuine place. I am part of the chabad community, and I'm wondering if others were taught similar things prior to their wedding. I've discussed with others who seem quite shocked that this is what we are taught.

Found this passage when looking up a reference given by Rabbi Shalom Morris in his video about S&P Sukkah customs: https://youtu.be/VCohrPVh7VU

It is from the book Festival Studies by Israel Abrahams, published 1906. Here's a link to the passage: https://books.google.com/books?id=iG9BAAAAYAAJ&pg=PA74

Non Jewish looking to learn

I don't know where to begin so I'll just be honest.
I am not Jewsish, I am Australian

I grew up surrounded by people who had nothing good to say about Israel or Jewish people.

I never questioned it until I met someone Israeli online who treated me with more respect and taught me more than anyone else in my life ever had. He didn't have to. He just did.

That made me look closer. I started learning Hebrew on my own. I listened to the music. I read about the history. The more I looked, the more I found something I recognised — a people that documents the wrong alongside the right, that builds strength from pain, that takes craft and knowledge seriously.

I've been defending them behind their back ever since with nothing to gain from it.
I'm an ex-Muslim. My father is sick and living with me. I'm struggling to find work. I'm not coming here looking for easy answers. I'm coming here because something in this culture feels true to me in a way nothing else has.

What should I read first? And is it strange for someone like me to walk into a synagogue in Sydney with nothing but questions?

Discussion Jews in Massachusetts, which kosher restaurants in Brookline/Boston are the best?

Me and some friends from a place without any kosher restaurants are taking a day trip to Boston soon. We all keep kosher so getting to eat somewhere outside our homes/shul that's also kosher is pretty new for us. For milk or meat, which would you say are the must sees?

Okay so I am a non hebrew speaker and I have been personally learning hebrew through listening to music to make it fun!

This is my python program that transliterates the pronunciation while i listen to the actual song

https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=eT768ICZMpc&si=4-4lYlwC-7pylynz

This is the actual song מסע. by Eliad

https://github.com/rainfantry/hebrew-discord

The repo is completely using free API’s. if anyone wants to improve it or make it better because you are native Hebrew speaker it is fine. i owe alot to ישראל

And please forgive any poorly translated hebrew it is a personal project of appreciation to my Isreali friend who is a veteran
I am also veteran in Australia so I have great respect for all Israelis and Jews..

The strongest people I know.

ץם ישראל חי
(It took me 3 minutes to type this from iphone keyboard 😭 I have much to learn)

Discussion How do you interpret the concept of "the sins of the fathers . . . visited upon their descendants"?

I'm reading Exodus and this part (34:7) won't stop nagging at me. Curious about different perspectives out there.

Discussion Qlippoth: (Gentile)

During a meditative session recently as a gentile, the phrase "Qlippoth" was presented to me.

I am going through a very difficult life period, could anyone share some meaning as to why I may have been presented with this? I read some of Zohar following this message, but if anyone could share some further insights it would be appreciated, or what passages would be relevant.
