Discussion Dharampal is sad today because he will lose his balls in 2 days
He's up for neuter on Thursday with my 2 other pups lucy and kallu
Please pray that they return safe and healthy
Plus he's been moody all day because he is NOT allowed to visit my cousin's dog millie cuz she is on her heat 😂

Get a Satyapal too, and then they can start a company and start selling rajnigandha but for dogs

I have thorough experience of post op care and have vet available 24/7. Thank you for the advice!!

You are doing right thing, OP. Neutering or spaying is just and ethical because it helps lower health risks in the future. Thank you for taking care of them and I'm hoping that the surgery will go well and they'll recover without any problems. ❤️🐶
Just look out for comments who'll oppose this and give their "gyan" without researching about the benefits and how it helps them.

How much does it cost? And what are the precautions necessary? I would really appreciate it because I am confused and considering getting dogs in my locality neutered myself. It breaks my heart to see females get pregnant only for pups to die off and male dogs ripping each other apart. Ik they don't know better.

Im getting them fixed via nagar nigam which is free of cost for indies. Never get your dogs paayed or neutered during extreme summer seasons because it leads to several infections. Before sending them make sure to click their pictures and when those nagar nigam workers come to pick them up make a video of their vehicle and of them. They give you a form to sign off and a tentative date of when dogs will return its usually a week. When the pups return monitor their bheviour for a week so if they carry any infection or disease early diagnosis helps preventing mass spreading of any sort of viruses.

I had adopted a similar streetie, but didn't have courage to give it to those government agencies for neutring hearing those horrifying stories, where some dont even do it with anesthesia, and in a hurry with 100 dogs lined up.
Spent from my pocket to take it to a good private clinic and get it done in my presence.

I live in lucknow so there is good facility of hsi (humane society ngo) its a tie up with nagar nigam they take full responsibility. Also i trust them because 3 of my adults dogs went there to get nuetered and i also have personal contacts so its easier for me. Its been a week since they left and my dad has been upset all week

Can you please tell what should be minimum age to get pups neutered ?

u/kbaus911 28d ago
My vet said after 6months is fine.
Rescues generally neuter earlier because they have limited funds and need to get pups adopted ASAP, those pups do mostly fine as well. Some will recommend after the first heat cycle but imo with dog overpopulation I ain’t risking anything. Got mine done at 8months

I have 5 dogs. Only the 3 pups were left to be sterilised now they'll be done too. Im a rescuer too i have got almost 50 dogs sterilised since last year :)

So it depends on their size/breed(not mostly) i got my gsd mix bella spayed after she had her first heat but im getting lucy spayed even before she gets her first heat. The vet told me usually the age is 9-11 months. All 3 of my pups are 9 month old.

He's not sad, it's a very minor operation. Whereas neutering females is much more serious, so I'm curious why you have less concern for them than him?
He is a beautiful boy, and I will pray for all of them having easy and successful neutering 🙏

I took a picture of dharampal 10 minutes before making this post so i posted it. Even though its a minor operation my pups will be away for 7 days which is a big thing for me. I know everything that goes into caring for them and i do it well. Just because i didn't post my female dog doesn't mean i don't care for her. Love is proven not shown. This was a fun post. Ps:- he's been sad all day today and a mother knows when their children are upset. Thank you for your concern ❤️

I only meant you expressed concern about his surgery, which is minor, not about the girls' surgery, which involves opening the abdomen, not that you didn't post their photos too or that you don't love and care for them.
It would be very hard for me if I had 3 pups and they all (or even just one) had to be away for that long. Where I live they can come home after several hours. I wish it were that way where you are too.
🙏

Sorry if i misunderstood you.. They'll be away for 7 days which includes post op care and i have 2 adult dogs so it will become very hard for me manage them all together while in post op care.

u/OneSensiblePerson 28d ago
Oh, I see. I'm glad you'll still have your 2 adult dogs with you, though. It would be a lot to take post op care of 3 pups and 2 adults on top of it. But you won't be alone and that's good 😊

Why are you neutering him.. just keep him away from females. Neutered dogs have health issues down the road and if it is easier to just keep him away from females he will adapt tpp.. Regardless of what you choose to do - I hope he lives a long and happy life. He is a very good looking boy! :)

u/Forsaken-Penalty713 28d ago
You can't keep him away from females. You cant monitor a dog for a whole day. And i have got all my colony dogs neutered years ago and none have any health issues. Birth control is important for dogs because accidents happen. Precaution is better than cure always :). Thank you for your kind words!!!

if he is on the streets then there is no other option.
But if you have adopted him then he can stay intact..
Not neutering a dog is always better, and new research on canines is showing this even if this is not intuitive to many at the moment. Many dogs may look fine on the outside but struggle with thyroid issues, diabetes, heart disease, and joint disease after being neutered. Please try to get yearly bloodwork just to be safe. Wish your pup the best! :)3
u/Forsaken-Penalty713 28d ago
He is not the streets. I have 3 female dogs at home so for me as always neutering and spaying is a great option. I get bloodwork done for all 5 of my dogs every 6 months. And the street dogs i feed regulary, they get their bloodwork done every 6 months too. All of them are fixed and healthy. Thank you for your concern ❤️

Please stop spreading misinformation. Neutering is very beneficial for dogs.
Neutering prevents a ton of issues later in their life (for females it's pyometra and for the males, their testicles are susceptible to cancer) The vets nowadays recommend neutering the dogs after they turn 2 years old. That is the only change.
You keep referring to"new research". Can you share some of this here?

Ps:- i rescued dharampal in february. Adopted him immediately and now he's grown so fast infront of my eyes that i almost cried. I'll post an update when they return
