Discussion Will forever miss this one
Hey everybody. I didn't know which flair to use so I used a random one which might match with the post.
I wanted this to let this out for at least 7-8 hours but had to keep myself busy from breaking down.
So the story goes like: I am a customer in a food stall and I am one of the regular customers. I sit regular there even if it's for 30 mins. There have been days I used to sit for 2-3 hours straight, talking with people, engaging with the dogs and pups.
And after the breeding months, the mama dogs gave birth, we have new pups in the area. The own of the shop is a really good man. He loves and adores dogs. There have been instances where he took roadside dogs to his home and got them treated with his own money. All things apart, there was this particular pup which I absolutely adored and everyday I used to cuddle and scratch this guy on his head and squish his cheeks. I went today and he told me that, "The brown one is gone". I didn't think for a moment a asked which one? And he said, "The one you kept clicking pictures of. He died." And my response was, "No, you are lying!", and I stared at him for whole 5 minutes.
For a lonely person like me, I have never been loved by people, nor by near ones, nor by parents and I can't expect outsiders to have a little empathy for me. Never had friends, never had anyone to call mine or "my friend"/ "my companion". And being loved by this small thing, made my cry internally. He used to come and scratch on my pants for more scratches and food, he even wagged his tail.
And yet again, someone I loved is gone. And again, I am left alone, reminded where I belong to.
Please pray for this little soul. I don't have much to ask.
Sharing some pictures of my Chiku.
And people might question me. But I really wish I spent a little more time with him. Loved him a little more. And clicked a few more pictures to keep him inside my heart.

This is my personal view - whenever humans come across such animals that touch their hearts and they suddenly disappear, its a sign of your and the animal's karma of some birth to meet and be loved. It was destiny! Cherish those memories and make sure your serve these voiceless animals with whatever capacity you can! It's a blessing in disguise! Cheers

Thank you! Thank you so much for explaining this. I knew karma works in its way but I was in grief to not remind myself.

By pictures he seems like a very cute and well fed doggo. Its very heartbreaking that he suddenly passed away.i understand your situation as I also keep a lot of attachment on dogs and cats and even cows. May his soul rest in heaven

The owner kept water bowl for him and other doggis. Plus he fed them all from his biscuit dibba and even roti and whatever meat/egg curry was left

So sorry for the loss, I've been there in the same situation, lost my community indie dog last year. You can adopt an indie dog, if you want.
Please spay and neuter them with the help of nearby ABC or NGOs. Take care:)

They appear as if to heal our broken hearts and bring out the goodness, hopefulness, and love in us. They mend us and teach us this bitter lesson of letting-go, of reconciliation - and forever find a place in our hearts. Praying for his well-being, wherever he is.

u/G-en Mar 05 '26
Yes, they sure come to heal our broken hearts and break a little more when they leave.
Thank you

How did he die
3
u/G-en Mar 05 '26
He got diagnosed with a disease that dogs are having recently and there is no cure. Plus they were eating the raw feathers of the chickens that the butchers threw away. Many died of worms

u/shriand Mar 05 '26
No. Parvo is far more likely.
2
u/G-en Mar 05 '26
I see. I don't have much knowledge of this

Did he die all of a sudden or did he stop having anything followed by vomiting foam and bloody diarrhoea and weight loss. If it's the former then it's tough to diagnose the cause. However if it's the latter then it's most likely to be parvovirus.

He went weak 2 days ago during Holi and he died yesterday. The town was closed due to Holi and the municipality truck came today to take him. I got the news at 3pm, when everything was over.

Everyone on the streets deserves adoption and a loving home.
1
u/G-en Mar 05 '26
They sure do. I didn't have much money to give him a home

u/maitrey Mar 06 '26
Most of us are bound either by availability or financially to support these angels.

May his soul rest in peace. I can totally relate with you. I too, find my solace in my indie and the pups in my society. And when I lost 2 of them to accident, I felt like my world had just collapsed. I’d rather spend all my free time with them than with humans.

Om shanti.
He died due to sickness most probably. But it can also happen that he was sick and was hit by a vehicle. Idk for sure. The owner of the shop told me that he was sick. That's it

P.S.
I forgot to mention that he lost his mother after a few weeks of his birth. He was orphaned and depended on the owner and other pups for love and care. Even the elder mama and papa dogs had his back. Although orphaned, he still has us, the other dogs and pups and the owner feeding him.

What a sweet dog. So sorry that he was only here for a little while. And I hope you are okay. You can adopt an animal if possible and keep it safe. Having a dog is a life changing experience.

u/G-en Mar 05 '26
I wish I could but my parents won't allow plus I remain in my dept throughout the day and come home late. Plus taking care of a pet is a huge expenditure which I can't afford since I ain't working. But whenever I work, I have promised myself to get one and give them a good life and even help in ngos

And the whole time I thought this one would survive and went along throughout the day. And at evening he would come and I would give all those aggressive cuddles and pets and he would come to scratch to get more.

u/sexydhurandar Mar 06 '26
Buddy it's time to get one stray puppy to your home. It might not replace the pup you lost.. but this act will fill your life with love and will give that stray a loving home.
1
u/G-en Mar 06 '26
I don't have the money 😭.
Plus I ain't taking pets. Cuz Ik I will shatter when they leave. This was a kid outside a shop, not even my home and it broke me inside. I won't be able to handle when a pet goes away. Never. I am already hollow at this point, I can't afford more loss.
I will feed strays, help them if when needed, donate in ngos when possible. But not a pet. At least not after this
2
u/sexydhurandar Mar 06 '26
Bro money isn't needed. A puppy needs few meds which I can suggest you.. ghar ka bacha hua rice roti with diluted milk doge to b your pup will be happy

Good boy, Chiku. May he rest peacefully.
And OP, I’m very sorry your loss and grieving. 🫶🏻

u/G-en Mar 06 '26
It's okay. You don't have to be sorry for anything. I just hope he and the rest of the litter rests peacefully

Dogs and Cats have a very low survival rate. Parvo and other things kill LOTS of pups and kittens. That's why it's crucial to vaccinate.
Please try to spay and neuter and vaccinate the parents and the pups.
