Discussion HomeView is a HomePod with a screen?
“The mighty yet compact speakers pack a serious punch. Two custom full-range drivers in the display keep everything sounding crisp and clean while delivering room-filling Spatial Audio. Computational audio adjusts consistency and balance in real time to deliver incredible sound every time, from anywhere. And a down-firing woofer and two force-cancelling passive radiators are built into the base — for deep, rich bass.” How is this not an OG HomePod with a screen?

HomeView has two tweeters, one subwoofer (and the wall mounted version just uses two speakers). OG HomePod had seven tweeters, one subwoofer. Gen 2 has five subwoofers, one subwoofer. HomePod mini has a single dynamic driver with passive radiators to increase bass.
So HomeView has a completely different speaker setup than any HomePod, but likely sounds better than HomePod mini while falling well short of either first or second gen HomePod.

Does it include some of the other features of the newer HomePods like temperature and humidity sensors? I’d hope it has at least all the same radio bands.

How does that work for the wall mounted variant?

Omits the sub; disappointed it’s the same price

If they dropped the sub and included the wall mount that would make sense but loses a big use case.

I think that eventually the wall-mounted version is going to be the more desirable version. It is a USB C connection to the wall mounts. Without the woofer base it can more easily be integrated into a lot more third-party devices, or have new bases for different use cases. Eg third party speaker bases, battery base with docking station to make it mobile within the house/porch/patio, etc.

More of a big apple watch without heart rate sensor
