Title: Should I Pay ₹6,174 to Close My FatakPay Loan While My RBI Ombudsman Complaint Is Pending?
Hi everyone,
I need advice regarding an accidental loan taken through FatakPay, with FDPL Finance Private Limited as the lender.
Here is my complete situation:
- Loan sanctioned: ₹7,000
- Net amount disbursed: ₹6,174
- Loan ID: LFPL-00006777483-12352959
- Loan date: 1 October 2026
- Cooling-off period mentioned in my loan documents: 3 days
- Due date: 4 November 2026
- RBI CMS complaint number: N202627010023322
On 1 October 2026, I accidentally accepted the loan because of an unintended click on the FatakPay platform. I did not want this loan and did not intend to use the funds.
I immediately emailed FatakPay requesting cancellation and asking them to stop the disbursement because I wanted to cancel the loan within the stated 3-day cooling-off period.
However, the company later informed me that ₹6,174 had been transferred to my Bank of Baroda account on 3 October 2026 and that cancellation was no longer possible because the funds had already been transferred.
I did not use the money. I contacted customer support and raised a grievance, but my issue was not resolved satisfactorily. I also received no satisfactory resolution to my cancellation request.
Therefore, I filed a complaint with the RBI Ombudsman through the RBI Complaint Management System. My complaint was successfully registered under number N202627010023322 on 7 October 2026. I also requested ₹1,000 as compensation for the inconvenience caused.
Now, after several days, FatakPay has asked me to repay the amount that was credited to my bank account, ₹6,174.
My main questions are:
Should I pay ₹6,174 now, or should I wait for the RBI Ombudsman to examine my complaint?
If I do not pay before the due date while the complaint is pending, could FDPL report the loan as overdue to credit bureaus, damage my CIBIL score, or charge additional interest or penalties?
If I repay ₹6,174, will that affect my RBI complaint or my request for ₹1,000 compensation?
Under the RBI Digital Lending Directions, can I insist on exercising the cooling-off exit option when I emailed the lender within the stated period?
Since the lender says the money was transferred on 3 October, does that automatically mean I cannot cancel the loan, even though I requested cancellation on 1 October?
If I decide to pay, should I obtain written confirmation that ₹6,174 is the full and final closure amount and that the loan will be closed with no further dues?
Is there any risk that paying the amount could be interpreted as accepting the loan or withdrawing my complaint?
I have screenshots of my original cancellation email, the lender's response, the grievance acknowledgement, and the RBI complaint registration.
I would appreciate advice from anyone familiar with Indian digital lending regulations, RBI complaints, and cooling-off periods.
Please suggest the safest practical step to protect my credit score while keeping my complaint and compensation claim alive.
Thank you.
