I've been trying for days to get IPv6 up on Vsol fibre units and starting to believe that it is not in fact correctly implemented.

I note other posts here suggesting to avoid VSOL. granted.. probably good advice, but look, not my decision, OK. and it is what it is.

IPv4 config works fine, both "routed" and "bridged" are possible.

I have tried to configure a WAN IPV6 profile manually on the ONU or remotely on the OLT, either directly or via a Service Profile. Nothing works. There is a RouterOS box behind the OLT and this is providing upstream IPv6 perfectly fine to the non fibre network segment.

Anyway, even adding a static IPv6 address to the OLT, the ONU can't communicate with it.

Network traces from the OLT uplink are well, showing weird stuff going on. I guess this is not the place to post such things though, The VSOL website is BS and any specific documentation is all but non existent.

so this is just a shout out.. Anybody else actually get this junk to work?

Planning on installing an underground fiber run of about 600 ft between 2 houses. Will be using some smurf conduit buried maybe 1 foot down. And then within some armored fiber, which as you know, contains a steel sheath covering.

Question I have a whether I need to be concerned about grounding. There does not seem to be a clear consensus online.

To help mitigate the risk could a solution be to run the armored conduit underground and then couple each end with an unarmored fiber cable into each house?

Any thoughts or experience with this?

I ask because I always see wildly different readings from those compared to my routers. Like the meter will read something like -3 and when I connect it to my router is like +2

I don’t know what contractors did this, but it’s truly funny how sad of a job some of them do , yet probably act like they have a hard job😂if whoever did this happens to see this i do appreciate you making it as easy as using my finger stick it into the ground and pull your pencil fiber from under the sod and made for a very easy crossing for our HH! We’re seeing more fiber deployment work where the engineering workload becomes the bottleneck, particularly around pole data cleanup, attachment review, make-ready decisions and pole loading.

I work in MRE and pole-loading engineering and am interested in how other teams are handling increased project volume.

For those working with O-Calc or similar workflows: what tends to cause the biggest delays — field data quality, pole modeling, utility corrections, clearance issues, or QA/QC?
