I’ve started clearing marijuana out of my system, but substitute teacher application is moving forward. I’m not sure if I should keep going or if I’ll be drug tested and disqualified? Please don’t recommend Rover or an in home sitter. He doesn’t do well with people in his space. We usually use Blessed Oasis Pet Resort for boarding but since the last time we boarded a couple years ago, they have gone up to $79/night for the room type we do. What are your favorite recommendations in the Fayetteville area? I don’t like the cage like enclosures and prefer the room type. He’s an 80lb DalX. 8 years old on Christmas. He also prefers and gets along with small dogs. He does NOT get along with dogs medium size or bigger due to being attacked by a pit twice, so I need somewhere that would be willing to let him play with the smaller dogs. He’s VERY gentle with them!

Spent 7 years dating as a Cis "man" and 3 years as a trans-lesbian and they both suck in equal measure.

I'm not dumb I know I'm not a model but im still good looking but now a days being anything less than a 10 makes you the toxic avenger.

Its only gotten worse after my transition. Now look I know its a lot to ask of someone, either a Cis woman who's into men or a lgbtq woman looking for a woman, its a lot to ask someone to look past I get that.

Its a lot to ask a Cis woman looking for a man to consider someone like me, a pre-op trans woman in a dress.

Its also a lot to ask a queer woman looking for a woman to consider someone with my anatomical setup.

But the number of chasers that slide into my DMS is fucking nuts. For those of you who don't know, a chaser is a man who outwardly claims to be straight but then secretly slides into the DMs of trans women looking for a hookup.

Of course I chose to start my transition in the american south (MAGA country) so I guess that's on me.

My name is Melissa R. Williams, and I am a Fayetteville resident and the founder of Quiet Violence of Systems (QVOS), a newly established nonprofit organization focused on community education, advocacy, and understanding the systemic challenges that affect our communities.

What is Quiet Violence?

Quiet violence refers to the often invisible ways that systems, institutions, policies, and everyday practices create or perpetuate harm, inequality, and disadvantage. Unlike overt violence, quiet violence operates through structural barriers, bureaucratic processes, unequal access to resources, and institutional practices that may appear normal or routine but can have profound consequences for individuals and communities.

The violence is quiet not because the harm is insignificant, but because the systems producing it have become so normalized that the harm often goes unrecognized, unchallenged, and unaddressed, but NOT unexperienced by everyday people.

Do you know any parents of 10-12 year olds who live in NC (especially Fayetteville)? The Tweens on Screens project, led by researchers at UNC Greensboro, is studying how kids ages 10–12 use technology in daily life, and how parents guide them. By looking closely at these patterns, we hope to uncover what helps kids thrive, what puts them at risk, and how families can build healthy digital habits together. Our goal is simple: to give parents science-backed tools and tips for raising confident, well-balanced kids in the digital age (link in comments) #northcarolina

Did anyone else see the board of elections hearing over the complaint in Cumberland County? The GOP county chair, Linda Devore, admitted under oath to violating personnel privacy while testifying against a colleague on that very sort of accusation. The GOP basically then abandoned the actual complaint and started arguing against citizens basic rights.

The GOP argued that freedom of speech and assembly like contacting your BOE, going to meetings, writing letters of support etc are an attempt to intimidate elections boards and workers.

BOE tabled the matter until after the election, what a board does when they don’t want to admit defeat but also don’t want to go to court.

Wild stuff. Keep a close eye on their shenanigans. We are reminded daily that democracy is not their priority.
