Are you sure you are distrohopping and not DE hopping?

Little bit of both

DE hopping is *mostly* unnecessary. Sure, some distros specialize in one DE and their chosen preconfiguration may speak to you. But otherwise, you can install pretty much every DE/window manager on any distro.

Idk, I only know of one distro that carries my wm of choice. But yeah I get what your trying to get at which is that if determined enough anything is possible! Most user I think would rather just take the easy way and not all distros carry all de/wm so distro hopping is the only way to get that exposure to new DE's or window manager's.

What kind of wizardry is this? Sounds interesting.. been on EOS for 3 years or so, but was curious about Cachy's optimizations - seems like you got the best of both worlds. So CachyOS has some kind of repo that replaces popular AUR packages? Any guides/links you might have?

There you go, should have everything you need

Thank you. Do you mind explaining the AUR part? They have packages that are typically only in the AUR "adopted"/maintained in the cachy repos?

Good question. I'm not on Cachy myself, I'm an Endeavour enjoyer, so I don't really know about the AUR part - but it'd surprise me if the cachy devs would park some packages on the AUR instead of their own repos

Using the Fedora 42 wallpaper on EOS with plasma feels like some form of heresy

Nothing wrong with distrohopping. May you find exactly what you are looking for and settle for nothing less.

I have been cosy with Endeavour for years now.. At work I use Ubuntu, Ubuntu server and Fedora but can't wait to be back home in Endeavour again

I've been loving my install of it so far, using hyprland w/ cachyOS kernel and haven't had a single issue yet. Hella low idle usage, always smooth and my bindings make navigation a breeze

Depends from reasons behind... I was changing distros constantly due to lack of drivers/functions or whatever support I needed. But when it's just about curiosity or thrill... I doubt it will change anything

I'm on endeavour currently, was using kde but just recently swapped the whole thing out for hyprland ... don't know if that counts as hopping or not 😂 ... been here for 3 years now I think I am cured

Usually this goes away when you reach the age of 18 or older, or when you touch grass

I have a mix of vanilla arch, EndeavorOS, CachyOS, Omarchy, and Debian on servers. But I would say that arch-based distros have cured my distro-hopping. I was curious to see what the hype was about Omarchy so I tossed it on my least-used laptop. But basically I haven't moved off EOS and arch in about four years now.

It basically did for me. My next stop was pure Arch but I still use Endeavour on new PCs if I get one.
