I'm wondering if this blanket even needs a border and if so, will the white look weird? Should I try and find a grey that matches?

Hey,

I've stumbled across these on Pinterest/tiktok. Does this type of crochet have a specific name or technique?

To frog or not to frog Almost done... Yet this happened and made me cry my eyes out

Post image

I'm making this baby blanket as a gift for a friend of mine from primary school I recently reconnected with.

I'm about a week away from finishing it completely. This happened because I forgot my needles while away on a family weekend, I got back home then... TADAAA!

Basically, since it's a lot of hours of work I'm wondering if I should frog or just try and fix it with a YouTube video or something.

It really broke my hard and I have to admit that my initial reaction was to ''quit'' the project because of frustration and pure sadness. But I don't want this to go to waste and my friend and children will absolutely adore this blanket as she's already so hipped, gratefuk and thankful for this handmade gift.

What should I do guys? 😭

Can't find a flair for this Gifted all this thin yarn/thread and not sure what to do!

My Nana recently got home from Texas (and went to Mexico for her FILs funeral) and gave me all this beautiful yarn. I do need a smaller hook which she is trying to find her hook stash to give me one.

There's 2 of each color and I really want to make something for my kids or myself but I'm not liking any of the patterns.

I have freehanded blankets, scarves, ear warmers, and even a shirt for myself while I was pregnant with my third. I know how to follow patterns, adjust for a different yarn and hook size, and size up or down so it's not a pattern problem. It's finding something to do with 2 skeins of very thin yarn/thread (not sure what its classed as).

I'm a beginner! I made a swatch of various filet stitches for my first filet attempt, I would love a critique of how I did

This is my first attempt at filet and because I don't like keeping things simple, I tried a bunch of different stitches in a modified version of Kathryn Clark's filet crochet notes. I did trebels instead of doubles because my first swatch way very squat. My tention was a mess at the begining but I think I got in my groove by the end. I also didn't I didn't properly block it because I don't have mats but I did order some. So filet crochet veterans, I would love your feed back. What am I getting right and what should work on to make it better.

Looking for suggestions More Granny Square Ideas Please! Making a scrap granny square blanket.

I’m working through my extra yarn and making this scrap granny square blanket. Problem though, I’ve hit a road block. I need help with some pattern ideas! Looks like I need possibly a couple rectangles, some mini squares, and maybe a few standard sizes. Please ignore the mess of my ends not being weaved in yet! I’d love to hear and see new patterns and where you think they’d best be placed! Most everything has been attached in some way, so I can’t move squares around easily. Thank you in advance!

Wearable help The checkered pattern for the vest I'm working on is looking a bit slanted

Post image

Hi everyone! I'm working on this red and green checkered vest for a Halloween costume, but I noticed my checkered pattern is looking slanted. I've never done a checkered pattern using color changes, so I'm a little out of my element.

I just wanted to know if there was an easy fix that prevented me from having to frog the whole thing. Thanks!

As it says, I need help determining if I’m following this pattern correctly. Does it look right? Should the two double crochets go in the same stitch and then skip a stitch? Currently I am on row 2!!

Looking for suggestions Socks for sensitive feet- need stitches or yarn suggestions to decrease irritation

Hello! I am an experience crocheter and I’m trying my hand at socks. My husband has very sensitive feet and is telling me the stitches (his word: knots) are uncomfortable to walk on. I have tried hdc so far. I feel like he may do worse with sc but I really don’t know. Any suggestions?

Wearable help advice on yarn selection for first sweater/cardigan

I have been crocheting for a little over a year and I am ready to give it a go on a real wearable. Immediately I've run into the issue of yarn selection. I'd like to know if, in the experience of others, it is worth saving up and spending the money on natural fiber for a first sweater or if, since I am inexperienced in this area and likely to make mistakes, I should go with acrylic. Whatever I make, I'd like to actually wear it. So far I've not been impressed with the feel of any other crocheted items I've made with acrylic yarn. There's obviously in-between options like acrylic/wool blends (I'm thinking Wool Ease from Michael's), but even that adds up when I need over 10 skeins to make a sweater.

So to clarify my questions - on my first try is it a better idea to use cheap yarn or make an investment, and if anyone has a specific yarn that would fit that profile, please do tell! thank you!

To frog or not to frog Making a cow-themed baby blanket in c2c and it's turning out so bad I'm debating whether to just frog the whole thing and start over or keep going, like could all those issues even be solved without frogging it?

Hi all, I'm making a baby blanket for one of my nieces, ideally I'll make this one and another one in a different colourway for my other niece and gift them for Christmas. I'm currently unemployed and could probably do a whole blanket in a week or two so time isn't really an issue.

The edge in the 4th picture is totally messed up and it's so wonky and ugly. Where the colour changes are on the edge of the spot is also quite ugly.

All the spots are wrong because I'm apparently shit at reading a graph diagonally but I kept telling myself that there is no right or wrong way for spots to look because, well, they are spots. The pattern did include both a written pattern and a graph but I was in a bad mood when I started the blanket and didn't understand the written part straight away so I just went with the graph. Big mistake.

And the bottom left corner is aparently away on a quest all by itself.

I was ripping out some of the yarn between two spots to correct an error because I didn't want to frog two whole rows, got distracted by my niece (or was it the dog?) before I got to finnish and now I can't even tell where that spot was, like I'm missing several stitches in the middle of the row and I can't tell where they are, lol.

Looking for suggestions Competition ideas. Has anyone entered anything before?

Hello people,

I mainly do crochet as a hobby to calm the mind. I rarely complete a piece if I am honest. This summer my family went to a local fair and my dad entered some veg. He did ok :) there were some crochet bits there and my mum mentioned to me I should enter. Anywho, it got me thinking about maybe considering it, but I’ve no idea where to start.

So I’m after advice. Has anyone entered anything and what things normally do well? What things to avoid? Pictures of inspo would be greatly received also please.

hello all! ive been crocheting for 2 years now, but ive never made a wearable item before. i am planning on cosplaying as one of my characters, and i want to make their cardigan. the closest one ive found is the Ariana Cardigan by Amy Christoffers, but its not quite as long 🤔 so im wondering, for anyone thats made wearables before, would it be hard to lengthen this pattern to resemble theirs or should i look for something else? and do you guys have any suggestions for something different if so?

I entered the state fair this year and I got 7th (last) place but at least I tried lol. The 3rd place kinda looks like moss stitch with puff stitches, but i wasn't sure if it was a specific stitch or just unique. 2nd place has a cool weave but idk what it is. And what is the border/main body made of on the 1st place one?

I'm a beginner! In Progress: Chenille baby blanket washing question

Post image
3 Upvotes

So, my friend just had a baby and I decided to crochet a blanket for her because I'm a semi beginner (probably 15 years since I learned and completed anything and it was all mostly simple things like scarves and hats) and found a simple blanket that has a shell pattern. I wanted to know, is this material okay to wash? It's Chenille and it's my first time working with it for a real project. I thought it would be cute because it's a soft warm feeling material and I thought it'd be good for the winter time coming up. But I live with cats and I don't want to not wash this before giving it to her even though she also has her own cat but still. If it can be washed can I get some instructions like is it delicate settings only, hand wash, etc? And can it be dried? I just want to know because I don't want to do something disastrous when it's finished because I see it's more of a loose fiber versus your traditional woven yarn.

How do I... I’m extending the body of a hexagon cardigan that I’m freehanding (maybe a bad decision for my first big wearable). I cannot for the life of me figure out how to turn to the next side!!

Wondering if anyone knows the name of this stitch? I’m still fairly new to the crochet world, it looks like it would be a nice and easy repeat stitch for a personal blanket!
