Borders Im having trouble putting a border on my blanket. I dont know where to put the stitches down the raw edge.

Im making this blanket and its the first time I've put a border on. I dont really know where to put the stitches. The entire blanket is red and white striped with each stripe being 14 rows wide. The entire blanket is worked in hdc. Ive added the border on two stripes. I have 27 sc stitches down the side of a stripe that is 14 rows wide (so about 2 sc per row end). Does this look right? I know the red on red is hard to see but the white be poppin. Am I doing it right?

Looking for suggestions To frog or not to frog, first attempt at cardigan!

Post image
• Upvotes

Im a beginner attempting my first baby cardigan. Im not sure where but I may have missed a stitch and have 93 HDC instead of 94 HDC for the body for the past 2-3 rows. Should I frog/ continue with 93 or just add one randomly in my next row to go back to 94?

Im also slightly unsure on how to count the rows. How many rows do you see from the armpit area? The blue stitch marker is what I added in to mark my first row for the body but im not clearly seeing where to count the rows from.

Stitch Identification Crochet veterans, please help me with my first chenille project ❤️ I have a problem finding the stitches.. can I do this?!?! 🥹

Hi all! (FYI I’m not a native English speaker)

TDLR: difficult yarn, hard to see stitches. I don’t know how to do this. CAN I even to this? Tips? Ideas? I’d love to hear it all. Or maybe just return the yarn… want to make a big stuffed dragon.

I don’t consider myself a newbie anymore regarding crochet. But I’ve mostly worked with cotton and “straight to the point” yarn. Never with chenille or fluffy yarn. It had also been awhile since I worked in a project. But here I was in a random shop.. and I saw this amazing soft chunky chenille and I HAD to have it for a dragon pattern I still wanted to make. Bought a tonne of churchy yarn for (for my budget) a lot of money.

And then I started… and again. I could NOT find my stitches. Oh nooo…

I just bought a simple 12mm hook and I do can see the stitches a little bit with this hook. Recommended hook size is 10mm and I’m used to use smaller hooks than recommended because with stuffed animals the filling just comes through.

Dear crochet veterans… do you guys have tips on how to do this? Because it feels impossible and I’m thinking of bringing back the unopened yarn. The dragon project is a BIG project. And the yarn was “expensive” (for my budget). But I’m also a commitment person… I really want to make the dragon with this yarn.

But HOW?!

Deciding on yarn/Yarn help Drops Karisma vs Drops Lima for crochet granny stitch sweater (definition and comfort)

• Upvotes

Hi guys! This is my first post on this subreddit.. if I missed any rule or something please let me know and I will fix the post :)

I’m going to make my first ever crochet sweater and deciding between drops lima and drops Karisma yarn.

I’ve already looked online and found that Karisma should hold its shape better which is very nice for the sweater I want to make however Lima should be warmer and softer to the touch. I plan to wear sweater over T-shirts so I’m ok with Karisma as well but Lima has other pluses (+ it could be also way more comfortable and warm) and that I don’t really want to ignore. On the other hand I don’t want my sweater to end up totally misshaped after just a few wears.. so let me just make a quick “scheme” of pluses and minuses and if someone has any recommendations and/ or experience I would be very happy to know :)

GENERAL
•Shape and comfort are the most important for me
•I plan to hand wash only regardless of yarn I use
•I would prefer to have some nice shape definition ideally same or similar as on my reference - https://youtu.be/bO035-31DIc (unfortunately there is no yarn advice in the video so here I am)
•I am quite (very) sensitive to itchy yarn

DROPS KARISMA (100% wool, Superwash)
+ Should hold the shape better
+ I already own one skein so I can see and feel it

•recommended hook is 4mm and after making few swatches I know I would use 5mm hook to make it more to my liking

- little itchy when I try my (blocked) swatch on my hands, back, face.. I’m afraid I will feel it more while wearing it even though I plan to wear on T-shirts
- not as soft and cozy as I would like it to be
- price
- colours

DROPS LIMA (65% wool, 35% alpaca)
+ should be softer and warmer
+ colours
+ price (is on sale right now)

- may not hold its shape ?
- I don’t have “test” skein to see

? Recommended hook size is 4mm.. if I used 3,5 would it help with definition? Will I need more yarn because of it ?

? For those who have experience with this specific yarn does it grow a lot during blocking? (I will of course make swatch before making sweater.. )

Thank you everyone who read it up until here and also for the potential advice !

I’m not sure if she had a shop in which she sells the pattern, but i want to make it. She said she used 3mm hook w 100% cotton. The pics are blurry but I’m hoping someone might know the pattern she called it a Halter top, but the sleeves are really big and i love it for that.

Looking for suggestions Looking for Help with a Crochet Blanket Pattern from a Picture.

Hello, I'm not sure if this is the correct sub for this, but I'm looking to start a project. I want to make a tapestry blanket based off the album cover OK Computer by Radiohead. I'm looking at stitch fiddle, which I've used before for a more simple design, but this one is much more detailed. I feel like the minimum number of colors I would need to make it look coherent is around 12 with a 300x300 grid. I'm not sure if that size is reasonable or not, I know it depends on the gauge as well. I'm also unsure about yarn size/brand. I was looking into the lilthings world milk cotton yarn, but I don't think they have enough variations of blue to cover all that I need, and I would really prefer it being all the same brand, unless people here think it does not matter as much so long as the material of the yarn is the same(all cotton, all wool, etc.)

I guess the main questions I have would be for yarn recommendations, if my grid seems too big, and really whether or not this project seems doable... I don't really have a time limit or anything, just something I'd really like to work toward. I'm more used to doing amigurumi, but I'd like to have something I can do that's slightly less thinking(don't need to worry about shape or stuffing, just when to swap colors).

I'll include the image I'm using of the album color so people don't need to look it up if they are unfamiliar with it.

Any and all help/recommendations/advice is greatly appreciated!

To frog or not to frog Almost done... Yet this happened and made me cry my eyes out

I'm making this baby blanket as a gift for a friend of mine from primary school I recently reconnected with.

I'm about a week away from finishing it completely. This happened because I forgot my needles while away on a family weekend, I got back home then... TADAAA!

Basically, since it's a lot of hours of work I'm wondering if I should frog or just try and fix it with a YouTube video or something.

It really broke my hard and I have to admit that my initial reaction was to ''quit'' the project because of frustration and pure sadness. But I don't want this to go to waste and my friend and children will absolutely adore this blanket as she's already so hipped, gratefuk and thankful for this handmade gift.

What should I do guys? 😭

Ok, so I’m making a teddy bear head. I’m supposed to have 54 sts for rounds 11-18 but I just counted it up and I only have 52. I know I must frog and fix it, but the problem is I don’t know where the mistake originated. Also I run the risk (unless I’m careful of losing where I started by moving the marker.

Can't find a flair for this Does it matter if my foundation chain is uneven???

Currently chaining 272 and I really don't have the patience to monitor my tension and make the chain even. Will that mess with my project? And will it even out once I've blocked it?

Not sure if it matters but I'm using lace weight cotton with a 2.5 mm hook.

I’m panicking trying to make this dress before Halloween! I already have the base orange top and skirt completed. I also have the two orange mesh rows completed as well. I’m trying desperately to figure out how the pink “y shaped” (circled) is created and connected.

I tried doing them individually, but the knots look horrible. Does anything have any suggested or video links to something similar??

I'm a beginner! In Progress: Chenille baby blanket washing question

Post image
3 Upvotes

So, my friend just had a baby and I decided to crochet a blanket for her because I'm a semi beginner (probably 15 years since I learned and completed anything and it was all mostly simple things like scarves and hats) and found a simple blanket that has a shell pattern. I wanted to know, is this material okay to wash? It's Chenille and it's my first time working with it for a real project. I thought it would be cute because it's a soft warm feeling material and I thought it'd be good for the winter time coming up. But I live with cats and I don't want to not wash this before giving it to her even though she also has her own cat but still. If it can be washed can I get some instructions like is it delicate settings only, hand wash, etc? And can it be dried? I just want to know because I don't want to do something disastrous when it's finished because I see it's more of a loose fiber versus your traditional woven yarn.

Looking for suggestions Socks for sensitive feet- need stitches or yarn suggestions to decrease irritation

Hello! I am an experience crocheter and I’m trying my hand at socks. My husband has very sensitive feet and is telling me the stitches (his word: knots) are uncomfortable to walk on. I have tried hdc so far. I feel like he may do worse with sc but I really don’t know. Any suggestions?

Hi I’m looking for help! I bought the subscription for this blanket a year ago then came across hard times so I had to cancel. They don’t just sell the pattern unfortunately but the subscription is now unavailable on their website so I’m trying to see if anyone has the leftover booklets and they could help me out!! Again if they were selling the pattern I would buy it. Please send this to anyone that you know that has made this blanket please 🥹🥹

Does anyone recognise this yarn? I got two bags as mill ends but I'm not going to have enough to finish my project. It's a dark/forest green with a silvery colour. It's similar to king cole jamboree but you can see in one of the photos that it's slightly different.

Understanding a pattern What am I doing wrong?? Largemouth Bass Fish Crochet Pattern by TrinketsToysUA on Etsy

Thumbnail

I’ve been working on this Bass pattern for a couple days and I’m really struggling with the body. Everything seemed to be coming out super slanted. I contacted the creator and they don’t know what I’m doing wrong either as the pattern has been done by many different people with no problem.

The first three images (after the pattern one) were my first attempt. I typically use a different method of switching colors and I thought maybe that was the problem, so I tried again with the last three images, using the method of hiding the yarn in each stitch as is written into the pattern. Again, something is wrong, but I’m counting so carefully I have no idea what’s going on.

This is really frustrating me, I’ve done many complicated patterns but I’ve never struggled like this. Can anyone find what I’m overlooking?

I'm a beginner! I made a swatch of various filet stitches for my first filet attempt, I would love a critique of how I did

Post image
8 Upvotes

This is my first attempt at filet and because I don't like keeping things simple, I tried a bunch of different stitches in a modified version of Kathryn Clark's filet crochet notes. I did trebels instead of doubles because my first swatch way very squat. My tention was a mess at the begining but I think I got in my groove by the end. I also didn't I didn't properly block it because I don't have mats but I did order some. So filet crochet veterans, I would love your feed back. What am I getting right and what should work on to make it better.

Help to find a pattern In need of Pattern help for a dog sweater. Specifically for a dachshund please ? Also using alt yarn weight

I was wondering if anyone has made a sweater for a dachshund and has a better pattern than what I've got? They are a bit disproportional. Best I've found is from heart hook home but it still doesn't fit right . My dachshund is still growing only 8 mo old but her neck is 7.5in to 8in and chest is 16.5 in plus her long back ... She's a monster to measure 😆

If I need to alter the pattern I need help with that .I'm also using chunky 5 yarn instead of the worsted weight 4. It's easier to work with , with my hands.

This is the link I used for the pattern. TIA https://hearthookhome.com/dog-sweater-crochet-pattern/

Help to find a pattern Help finding the Ice melt hat crochet pattern. store down ?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I bought the ice melt pattern like a year ago, I stopped bc of the amount of slip stitches that I had to do. I went to find the pattern again, as I need a new project. I went through my email and found the link to the pattern, however when I clicked the link it said the shop has been closed. But the site is still open and the pattern can still be bought. I reached out to the company but haven’t heard anything. Do I have to rebuy this or did something happen. I saw the person who made the knit pattern is now offering it for free but I can’t knit.

Thanks.
